I have a couple issues with my 1978 KE30 corolla (1.2, manual trans) that I hope you can help me with. 1. It drives great, but when I put the car in neutral when coming to a stop it stalls. However, it will restart if I put it back in gear as long as I am still coasting more than 10/mph. Also, if I pull the choke out before I start braking it will not stall. 2. Sometimes the car will not start. When I turn the key it does nothing...no click, no attempted start, nothing at all. However, if I shift through the gears or wait a few hours it will then turn over. Any thoughts? All the lights work, the blower works etc. so it is not the battery and the starter wa…

Hey there people, Well it's a long story, but I'll do my best to cut it short :lovin: I ordered some new 5K pushrods from Toyota last week and went to pick them up today. Basically got there, compared my one from my engine to the new ones, and hmmm the new ones are too long. So, I ask the guy to have a look to find the part number for the pushrods from the varied 5K models (flat top pistons/solid lifters). So anyway, the guy goes and gets help from another guy. So now two people there ask me if I am certain I have a 5K and with my response the guys looks through the computer muttering stuff the the first guy, "Check the YH** Tarago, I think they had 5K's" :D Funnily e…

Hi all, i was just after some help with tuning my twincarbs, they are the stock ones off a srcoupe that i have on my 4k with extractors and exhast and full ignition system, anyway, i havent got my lumpy cam yet so i was wondering if someone could tell me the most basic way to tune them to go their hardest, 9i can fine tune) in simple talk. also i find sometimes when i accelerate hard, the revs don't drop fully , and i think its to do with the throttle return spring, is there supposed to be one on each carb, has anyone else had this prob, any help would be appreciated Cheers, jono

Hi all, I have done a quick search which yielded no results. As many would know i have put a 4g93t engine into my ke20, i know that this engine is a legal conversion. My question concerns my brake mods. I have upgraded the front brakes to GSR lancer brakes, i have not modified the calipers, or struts, i have however made new mounting brakes, these are made to the original thickness of the ke20 ones where they mount to the strut and are the same thickness as the GSR bracket where the caliper mounts. They are very strong and rather overkill but they are the brakes so i wasnt gonna skimp. The rotors mount the same as the original ke20 ones, only are thicker and l…

Hi all, I am in the process of changing my front seats out of my daily driver ke20, and would like to know what kind of seats fit without to much trouble. Mine have lost most of it's foam stuffing and it feels like your sitting on the floor, so I would like some comfortable seats with some sideways support, just rember being a two door, that the back part has to fall forward as I need access to the rear seat for passengers. :D Cheers, Mark. :D :fuzz:

Hey hey, I'm having some problems with the 3k in my KE30 and I'm not sure what to do. All I've done after buying the car is: Oil/oil filter, fuel filter, air filter, cleaned the spark plugs and run out off fuel on the way to work :D run some fuel system cleaner through it but got no love. Anyway, when I drive it to work now (40 min's on highway@110) all goes well until I hit the 60km zone (5min's from work) I seem to be loosing the primary and have to drive it on the secondary (flat to the floor) push the accelerator halfway down and nothing happens then bam!!! off she goes, kinda, sorta. 3 corners later and I make it to work, car dies in car park, I g…

Hi Guys, just wanted to get your input on a problem that i have. I have a 91 GTi corrolla, with 17" vault rims and recently i had to change the 2 front tyres. Ever since the new tyres were fitted, i noticed that everytime i go over a speed hump or pot hot, even small ones, the tyres actually scrap against the inside of the guards which is annoying. It happened even before i got the new tyres but more frequent with these new tyres. I bought the car last year second hand and I'm pretty certain that it has been lowered, don't know if it was properly lowered or the springs were cut. Therefore i just wanted to get your opinion on the possible causes and solutions. …

wen i bought my Ke70 in 2006 it came with a 4k block in the boot however the motor in the engine bay is a 4k-u with the dished pistons. ill be keeping one of the blocks and getting bored out etc. anyway my question is would it be possible to put the flat top pistons in the 4k-u block for better compression or would they hit the valves or cause any problems? EDIT: i will be putting the original 4k head back on aswell

Found this on ebay.... http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Toyota-Celica-2T-3T...1QQcmdZViewItem If you look at the welds on the mounting flange to the head in the first pic, they look pretty ordinary compared to the other welds. Anyway, what I'm thinking is that this manifold was orinigally made for an SR or CA, then had the flange cut off it and a T series one welded on!! So for anybody interested in turboing a T series motor, it looks like they have the same exhaust port spacings as a Nissan motor! Heres an SR one..... http://cgi.ebay.com.au/SR20DET-TURBO-EXHAU...1QQcmdZViewItem

I have a '87 Corolla hatch. I love it so far. But! I need more power. It seems to lack speed pick-up, I struggle to get to 80 uphill, and as I do a lot of hills driving I need a bit of grunt. I don't want to spend a awful lot. So idea's are appreciated. Thanks, Tim.

The throttle on my 4ac (ae82) is sticking. Its so bad it doesn't start sometimes until I pump the throttle enough that it frees up. There's quite a delay between me releasing the throttle and the revs dropping. Also when I clutch in to change gears it revs up about 300rpm before dropping again. Ive cleaned out and around the carby. Ive also lubed all the throttle components around the carb. The throttle return spring works fine and doesn't feel like there's any delay. I've got a weber and adapter plate I could put on but I'm not sure how hard it would be to hook up the accelerator cable, fuel line or what I'd do with the vac lines. Ive never used it in the months…

FRONTS i want to know if a can just swap out my front ke20 struts with ke55/ke70 struts or even ke30 if need be... to get the new stud pattern and a larger brake, is it a straight swap or will there be some modding? and will if fit onto the ke20 lower control arm? or is there another way i can upgrade...? Hey all, first of all my 4k keeps misfiring at high rpm wen i stab the throttle and occasionly wont start or dies at low rpm, the dizzy cap looks pretty foul so I'm gonna get a new one tomorrow, but if not does anyone know what the points should be spaced at, my points are relatively new but may have moved. and as a second question, the vacuum advance, can someone tell me where the hose should connect, i have it connected to the dizzy and to sumwhere near the carbs, but not actually on the carbs, I'm running a stock twincarb setup, but with 4k carbs rather than the 3k ones, can someone please tell me if thge vac advancance is supposed to connect to the carbs, if so, w…

Ok so the T50 is buggered so I've source a W5x series gearbox and its pretty cheap for coming with a bellhousing as well. RWD is normally not my thing so I just wanna make sure I've thought of everything so the process isnt slowed thatmuch. Gearbox with bellhousing -> Check starter motor -> the standard 4a one ok? Speedo cable -> electric/mechanical? interchangable? Clutch -> Still at a loss for this one, need one to fit 200mm 29.8mm centre and 21 tooth. Found out its a bluetop flywheel :) Shifter position -> Holes will need to be cut, both the t and w boxes are long Driveshaft -> Will need to be shortened, use the front half off the w55 …
