First off id like to say i live in arkansas so no legality issues here. I'm wanting to know how to go about engine mounts? Does anyone have any sort of blueprint i could go off of to build my mounts? I can weld and stuff but on mounts i want a proven idea...no use in reinventing what's already here you know?

Hey all, I've never had too much to do with auto's in Corollas but I assumed they'd be borgwarner like Celica etc.. Yesterday I picked up a 4k from a ke70 that had this trans on the back. When unbolting I discovered a GMH build plate. Is this just standard gearbox?

Anyone have experience with making a ke20, or any car really.. with tight 2 way lsd turn corners. Problems turning in and understeer. I run in street sprints.. toyo proxes888 tyres.. LOVE my new lsd other than the above. I can lift off the throttle to get it to turn in better, but there are corners i could take better if i could reduce the understeer. Current thoughts are camber, toe out and maybe rca for low springs.

Hi i have just acquired a AE112r seca for $1200. Pretty rough but not too bad for what i paid. I have only had it a few days and have noticed that there is a vibration when at a cruising speed in any gear... There is also what i would describe as a pop noise when accelerating from from a constant cruising speed... example of the vibration would be if cruising along in say third gear with no real load on the engine and then putting your foot down steadily. It can be felt through the whole car... Doesnt feel like a wheel balance/alignment issue... I was thinking maybe engine mounts??? Also the previous owner smoked like a chimney and now the car smells as you woul…

Hey guys I'm leigh,I'm attempting to re-build a 4k turbo injected motor. The motor had standard head bolts in it but they stretched under boost and blew the head gasket. I have been searching for a metal head gasket as the standard seems to blow at 10psi. Does anybody know where I find a metal head gasket? Also has anybody had any luck getting ARP head bolts/studs? They don't stock a kit but ive heard of people using arp bolts in 4ks. Any help would be great. Cheers Leigh

I'm looking to have my distributor re-curved. It's a stock 4KC dizzy in good working order. Engine currently features a Weber 38/38, carb base plate port matched for carb adapters and intake manifold carb opening. The dizzy is electronic but features a vacuum advance and retard. I am using the big port intake manifold--it's been cleaned up on both ends. I am also using a set of extractors. As it's sit now--is it worth it to re-curve the dizzy's timing advance? When I add my performance camshaft and reworked cylinder head? I'm still under the assumption that Toyota ignition systems work just fine for most application. So, it seems like just re-curvi…

I have a Toyota KP36 Pick Up with a 2K engine. What modifications do I need to do on the engine in order to turbocharge it. The engine is the original 2K. I was also told that I can switch the engine to an electrical fuel injection conversion. Is that possible? Are there ready to fit packages? Thanks.

I am working with Non-Stop Tuning (NST)--the leading maker of lightweight pulleys in the USA. They've agreed to develop lightweight crank, water pump, and alternator pulleys for the 3K/4K engines. We'll be switching from the v-belt design to a serpentine style belt system. There's a huge range of colors and at the moment the complete set is running $300 US. The price may seem a little high but where else can you get these? NST is really doing us a favor by agreeing to take on such a small project. Several other companies that approached turned me away. So, bottom line--if you are interested post here and let NST know! NST is more than happy to ship anywhere in t…

Hi, just picked up a 78 rolla 2dr sedan deluxe. I have never owned one and was in the market for a cool older car like this to tinker and have fun with. The car is in good shape. The previous owner though did his own suspension job to include cutting the front springs to drop it and put blocks in the rear. I have heard this can be done and doesnt hurt anything. My question is what can i do to make the ride-ability better? It bounces a good bit and is pretty rough at times on bumps. Are there coilovers i can get and what and where from. Also what about the rear with the blocks, is this good or can something be done with the leafsprings?? I look forward to hearing wh…

So guys recently I got my hands on another ke of course being such an old car there are things that need attention. First off is the suspension currently running leaking stock shocks and cut springs. And drives like crap especially when going over bumps which I found out when I jacked the car up to do some work is because the spring is cut so much that when no weight is on the car the spring moves freely safe to say it's dangerous and soon want to change. I've sorced full stock ke suspension for cheap but I still want the low. I don't want to opt for coilovers as they would cost as much as I got the car for and I don't want to run illegal choppies so I was wondering if an…

I'm very new at this mechanics stuff. Ive been playing around with my 4k and I've successfully serviced the auto transmission and changed the head gasket so far. I'm working my way through the tuning now. I've got the gregory's manual and the yellow toyota 4k manual. (which you can download here http://www.retrojdm.com/ScanView.asp?ScanID=29 ) The toyota yellow book is very clear, the gregory's not so good. I've found that they assume you know the basic stuff. Can anyone recommend a good generic workshop manual to teach me the basic stuff? thanks

I've got a set of Ae86 struts that have been converted into coilovers but I'm not happy with the quality. Essentially I want to replace the cut and welded stock tube with a new not-welded tube with a nice new gland nut thread cut in the top (threads damaged currently). The strut tube doesn't appear to be welded to spindle casting, so I was wondering if anyone had tried removing it with a bit of heat. I'd like to know before I go ripping the suspension out of my car preferably. Thanks

Hi Guys, I have spent a lot of time and money so far on gathering all the bits i need for my new engine. I wont go into the list of parts, but it is substantial, i have bought very high quality parts throughout and should have a redline above or around 9k rpm. (limited to 8500 for longevitys sake. hope to have a second tune done after running in for if i want to push a bit harder on race day ;) 2 questions i cannot find answers to. 1- full gasket kit.. do i need one? I have a trd .8mm HG, and oem manifold gaskets. The head is fully rebuilt. Are there any other gaskets i will need, or will gasket goo be fine or better or what? I don't want to spend all thes…

iv been having a weird idle issue with my smallport 4age. it will start out at 2k RPM when its cold which is fine, but once its had a chance to warm up it will usually sit just above 1k RPM and thats fine too. But every so often, especially on hot days, il be sitting at the lights and the RPM will drop to 900-950 and shudder a lot. and if its been sitting out after iv been driving and i get back in it will start up fine but immediately drop below 1k idle and choke out and stall. that's only happened twice though. any ideas what could be causing this?

So, the Golden Girl is a dead stock KE70. Sometimes I jump in, it fires up, runs for 30seconds to a minute and dies. About as long as it takes to empty a carb bowl full of fuel. It won't restart. The fuel filter is empty, so is the pump. Solution is to put the filter inlet line into a jar of petrol, pour some down the carb and refil the carb, pump and filter. It makes a shopping trip into an anxious gamble.. It can be fine for a month or two, then do it. After running around town for a while I park it, lift the bonnet and see the fuel filer filling up more. Then bubbles come from the outlet end into the filter. The fuel filter is filling up because it is upsi…

Hey all so pretty much I'm new to cars and have just bought a corolla ke10. So far I have changed my hand brake cables and shocks which from what I've been told is fairly basic stuff. Was just wondering how much more advanced a front wheel bearing change would be. Feel like it's something you don't really want to screw up haha. Any help would be awesome. Thanks

Post up what you have, ... and if you know what they belong on... and what market they came from.... AE71 - GT badge, and "DOHC" badge. Neither originally available in the USA Condition on the GT badge 7.5-8.0(slightly faded and a few tiny flecks of paint missing) , condition on DOHC badge 10 Inquiry..... the side moldings behind the door on a frameless door E7 model - on my car says "COROLLA". Do all of these moldings say Corolla, or do some markets say "LEVIN", or "TRUENO"?
