KE70 Technical Questions

What's the easiest way to remove the rear bumper. I have minimal tools and fear i will have to remove the fuel tank just to get it off. Must be an easier way. Whats the easiest way to remove the dash? Yes I'm a bit of a noob, this is my first re-build so i appreciate all the help i can get. :blinks: Thanks in advance.

Hey fellas, I have searched around various places, with no luck, My question is simply this; What steering racks bolt into ke70's, and what effects do they have (ie. length, ratios)? I ask this as I suspect my rack is a little raped, and I plan on doing the s13 front conversion, requiring rack ends anyway, and with a rooted rack would defeat the purpose. Power steering may also be consider as I have the gear with my ke's future powerplant (assuming ps simply requires a pump and lines to the rack and not much more too technical) but ps is not preferred. Or, how much to get a rebuild (in Adelaide) Some links, stories, what ever could help. Thank you all!

I currently have 76 rolla carbs on my ke70. I'm in the process of reconditioning the engine and would like a carbs from a ke70 (early 80's) to recon does anyone have 1 or would i be ok reconing the 1 i have? :huh:

Yo peeps, Just wanting to know; I'm located in Victoria (Australia) and wanting to put some 17" 114.3 wheels on my car.. I tried them on but unfortunately the studs weren't long enough and it was hitting the suspension. Where can i source longer studs and spacers from and roughly what is the approximate price for a full set of studs and nuts. Hey all, Whilst driving at night and while my lights are on, the dashboard lights are going on and off. I have a feeling it's a loose connection for a wire because i can hear it sparking/clicking whenever it goes back on. It generally happens only when i turn or put my indicator on. When it goes off i have to press/play around with my indicator stick until it clicks/sparks back on and the dashboard lights stay on. My cousin that was driving behind me told me my rear lights were also flashing on and off so i think they may be connected to this; Any ideas on how i can fix this?

G'day all, i have a 4agze in my ke70 track car, it seems to run good when i first start it, it idles at about 2000rpm but wont adjust down, when i hold the revs at about 2300rpm it goes down to 1500 and then back up to around 2300 and doesn't stop till i take my foot off or give it more, then when it warms up a fair bit it starts to do it without any throttle and makes a clicking sound as it goes down in revs, the clicking sound is coming from the inlet side, could it be a injector playing up? it also runs a bit rich but i don't know how to adjust it haha, I'm getting a new set of plugs for it, coz the ones in it are old as, could that be the problem too? cheers glen

Had a fight with a sign post the other day. smashed the front grill, bent the radiator cross member, and bruised my pride. Q. as i don't have the car with me atm, is the radiator cross member a straight bolt in/out arrangement? or will i require the services of a panel beater? it was a low-speed collision and the fan only JUST brushes the radiator, so not too bad. any help would be appreciated.

Hey all, So i'm not quite too sure about alternators in general; How hard are they to find for the 4K motor and roughly what's the going price for them? Also what would be the labour price for one to be replaced (Just so i don't get ripped off, :P). Justin.

What doe's it involve to chuck power steering in the ke70's. I live 40mins out of town and by the time i get home i feel i have had a workout so would like to make life easier for myself. Going to recon the 4-k engine shortly so if i can put PS in whilst engine is out i will do just that.

So I'm curious about a front coilover conversion for my KE70. My researches have shown a few options, but I think I'll go with the 'well duhh' and get AE86 struts. This means I'll need AE86 steering arms too (rack & pinion, FTW) I believe. Will I also need '86/XT130 LCA's? I've read up about both and I don't really want to do XT130's because they bring the track out too much, lessen lock and make the close fitment with my chosen rims just that bit too close. AE86 LCA's I'm lead to believe are the same length. I'm getting adjustable camber tops with either setup so the alleged 'mega-camber' produced from longer LCA's isn't an issue. Received my quad lights from Megat (cheers again) and would like to check what is required to install them. Won't be for a few months yet but would like to get prepared. I know that the wiring will need to be adjusted for the headlights and indicators, saw that in the FAQ but what about the hole for the lights?

Can you put chrome bumpers on a slant front ke70? i have only even seen them on flat fronts and i want to convert mine eventually but in the mean time i was wondering if they would fit or if they would even look any good? thanks

Hi all, As the above says,I have stripped the paint off the bonnet of my KE70 and there appears to be rust on the bare metal underneath,this rust? was not visible before I stripped the paint off. What is the suggested way to deal with this before I prime and topcoat as I certainly don't want it coming through the new paint. I thought maybe spray with rust killer,let it dry,wipe away the excess and prime but I am open to better ideas if any. Thanks all...

hey i want lower my car with coils but in the mean time to i have enough money i want to through so springs in to lower it about 40-50mm, any idea of what springs would be best? or if you have a nice set up with springs and shocks and you think it will be nice please let me know. thanks oh yeah for a ke70 as well, my wheels are 15x8, 0 off-set and I have had my guards rolled if that helps :) thanks!

G'day, Sorry if this posted in wrong section. Have read every single post/thread relating to camber on KE70 and am wondering why I haven't read of anyone doing the following. Seems simpler, cheaper and easier. They only seem to do it with a S13 strutt/suspension upgrade. Perhaps there is some danger/risk I haven't thought through if doing the same with stock KE70 suspension/steering? Any advice would be welcome. Firstly, it's a bush rally car - stock KE70 sedan - other than worked 4k and locked diff. So stock struts and suspension. I'm going with GH Sigma LCA's. so i jst picked up new rolla 3 speed 1982 when i get to bout 80km-100km it revs really high then kinda drops or i put my foot flat down n it stops, something wrong with overdrivee I'm thinking???

Hi all, Will be taking my 71 to Marulan on the 21st. It has a stock bluetop with pod filter and exhaust. Exhaust wise i have 4-1 extractors, one resonator then one high flow muffler. I have a flange before the diff so i can get a quieter muffler/silencer on there without major hassles. What are your experiences? Will a stainless muffler be quieter than a mild steel? What would be least restrictive on performance? Extra high flow muffler in middle or quieter rear muffler with silencer? these are the rules of Marulan: Test 1: Maintain 5000 rpm for five seconds. i have reacently got a exedy HD clutch but when i went to install it i t was to big and realized i got one for a sr20det. i have an sr20de out of an s15 (non turbo) in my ke70 so i have a 230mm flywheel. is it possible to change the flywheel to the 250mm one to make the clutch fit? any help of advice would be great

I have an 82 KE-70 Rolla with a manual transmission, its a paddock bomb through and through. but the clutch is no longer working in it after a bit of a thrashing it slowly stopped working, the pedals gone really loose and I'm not sure if the clutch is gone or my dad suggested it may be out of fluid when I mentioned it... thoughts on my dilemma would be much appreciated :)

Hey guys, As some of you know i have some pretty crazy plans for my little Ke70, and while the body is stripped back to nothing i plan to make it as strong as possible!. I Have been carefully studying the corollas frame work as i have been stripping it out and i have come to the conclusion i can likely build a certain amount of extra strength just by adding some material in as bracing in key points of the car. I'm finally starting to make my Panno look a little neater whilst saving/sourcing all my 4AGE bits and pieces. I've run into a couple of problems. First off being the windows in my doors. I want to install some fender mirrors which then means changing to the 'full' window after I take out the out mirrors. Are the windows the same size as regular KE/AE's? Will they bolt in correctly due to the doors being longer? I am also planning on getting rid of my "Lap timer" and putting in a tacho dash, although I have been told by a couple of people that the wiring may be different... if anyone could let me know of the deal there or direct me to a link that out be great. Hi all, As seen below i've recently purchased another Ke70 but this one has a nasty dent on the front right hand fender. Do any of you guys on here know a way i can get it out without having to get it panelbeated etc? I already tried the GPS Suction Cap thing, but didn't work, :x.

Howdy all, I've had my rolla for a few months now and after tackling the main faults (rear wheel bearings, dodgy alternator and other frustrating electrical faults :rant: ) I think it's time to tackle some of the rust on the body. Namely around the fuel door, a spot on the roof and the bottom of the rear guards on both sides. Can anyone please point me in the right direction as to which sort of sheet metal I should be picking up to use for the repairs? What sort of thickness?
