  1. The 115 main jet seems small for a 2tg. Check out here for some examples: http://www.toymods.org.au/forums/threads/23680-xT-Series-Engine-Variants They are for Solex and Dellorto but would give a good starting point. 140 would be a better start. Trying out different sets of jets can cost a bit. I order from eurocarb in the UK, or UK ebay. Would be handy to have a wideband O2 sensor for tuning.
  2. Good idea for easier access to the manifolds and starter motor. What's the piece cut out of the bellhousing for? Can see the ring gear.
  3. Found a KE70 air filter box today. Installed it and all good. The KE70 one has more of a protrusion where it sits on top of the carby. Also takes a flatter air filter compared with the KE3X one
  4. I've put a KE70 4k into my KE35 but it didn't come with the air filter. I tried to put a 3K air filter on and the heat riser duct was getting in the way so I cut it off, but the accelerator bracket and throttle position diaphragm on the carby gets in the way. Anyone know of any alternatives, or cheap after market replacement filters off the shelf that would fit?
  5. How far did you take the intake and exhaust valve throat diameter out to? Looks like the exhaust valve throat has been taken out a bit. What were the angles on the valve seat cuts? Does the engine go pretty hard?
  6. Looks like there won't be much room with the brake booster: You might have to go bike carbs, e.g. keihin fcr. And maybe remove the brake booster. Here's an example in a KP30: Or another option would be to upright the engine then you can keep Webers: Then ITB:
  7. Too far gone. The rear bumper still looks though. What engine has it got? Can get a reasonably intact KE20 for under a grand: https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/launceston/wrecking/ke-20-corolla-sedan-suit-resto/1150739003
  8. How much gap (mm) do they give between sheets? What project you going to use them for?
  9. Did you spray in 2pack? What brand paint did you go with at Spectrum paints? I went there the other day and they suggested to go with De Beer.
  10. What are the specs of the cam you used in the 4K? And is that with a 32/36 Weber?
  11. Hi John, where abouts did you find the KE35 in Tassie? I use to see a silver KE35 with hotwires in Hobart years ago. Did you take it back to Melbourne on the boat?
  12. I've replaced a rear main seal on a 3TC and it still leaked. Checked the crankshaft during a rebuild and it had a worn groove. Can get a sleeve that fits over the end of the crankshaft. But an engine builder told me the cheapest way is to use two gaskets for the rear main seal carrier, or no gasket just RTV, and it shifts the position of the lip of the seal on the crankshaft away from the worn groove.
  13. Is the 35mm inlet diameter at the entrance or all the way through?
  14. If you want to use the original KE30/KE55 struts then you can bolt on RX4 calipers. Larger piston, and larger surface area on the pads. Same bolt spacing, but the bolt holes on the strut need to be drilled out bigger. Need to adapt Toyota brake lines to connect to calipers. Also the hub bolts hit the caliper bracket during rotation, so need to file a combination of the two down to get 2mm clearance.
  15. OK, do you think the engineer will allow you to use the track width from a TE3X instead of KE3X/KE55? Looks to be wider: http://www.rollaclub.com/board/topic/28327-ke30-wheel-track/#entry325403
  16. So the issue with the wheels is that they stick out from the guards? How about the flares covering them, or they don't count?
  17. Saw your car near 9/11 and old wool store parked near the footpath. I was down the road at the twilight market. Far out, were you randomly pulled over or you were picked out by transport? Looking at the report they went into detail, the full walk around, up and under. Looks like they know what mechanical mods to look for.
  18. Double row timing chain would be better. Stretch less over time.
  19. Here are some photos of the car show in Rosny last Sunday. Mainly Fords and Holdens, but there were a few Japanese classics. Took the photos on my phone, bit amateurish with the zoom and glare, but just to show what was there.
  20. Are you running a 32/36 Weber? What jet sizes are you using? Maybe when the secondaries open it's not optimal.
  21. What year is your KE30? I noticed there is a difference in the fuel gauge readings. I put a 1976 KE35 gauge in my KE30 and the fuel gauge was a bit out, so I put in a 1976 fuel sender and it was OK.
  22. Go for the TE30 seat covers. The photo link for TE30 has stopped working in that thread. TE30s came out in Japan. The SL/GSL version had different style seats: The bottom section of the back seat for the KE35 is shaped differently to the KE30 with depressions in it.
  23. I had a similar issue with my 4K. I had to set the timing to around 20 degrees so it can run better (missing under load). Replaced a lot of parts like points, ignition leads, distributor cap, and coil etc. Ended up being worn advance weights in the distributor. Swapped the distributor and it was good. Actually get less fuel economy now. Probably driving it harder. Does have a rough idle that I can't tune out, probably the old 3k carby that is on it. I've set the timing to 10 degrees now. I did have an issue for the first 15 minutes when driving, it would run rough and stall at a stop. That was on 91 octane. Have changed to 95 octane and haven't had a problem since. Found that 98 octane didn't burn well and made the plugs sooty causing a weak spark.
  24. Are you going to make a silicone RTV mould of the 20V intake port? Would be interesting to compare it with the 16V with the difference in entry height.
  25. Member NME308 has a TA22 with a turbo 3TC. I think he might of adapted the Nissan turbo manifold. He's got a build thread on toymods and 3tcgarage. Also member Hurricane has got a turbo 3tc. Paradise Racing has a 3TC turbo manifold but is a bit steep: http://paradiseracing.com/shop/turbos/accessories/2tc-3tc-turbo-manifold-toyota-corolla/
