4k block with a 5k head in my Rolland. I took the head off the block a week ago to port and polish the head etc. When I took this head into the shop,the man said it is a 5k because it has small combustion chambers. Ok so from what I have heard,the compression this would be making may be WAAAAYY to high? QUESTION: WHY DIDN'T MY ENGINE RUN LIKE A DOG? IT DIDN'T EVEN HAVE THAT BARK TO IT LIKE A HIGH COMP ENGINE,AND IT DIDN'T SLOW THE ENGINE FAST WHEN OFF THE ACCELERATOR (like my old 4 with 3k head used to do.. WHY IS THIS ENGINE RUNNING FINE? my 38 dcoe sideraft carbs :) would it be worth putting them on a stock 4k with a set of extractors? better throttle response or power increase? I am pretty sure they were set up for a ford Kent motor 1600cc specs: 30mm venturis F11 Emulsion Tubes 180 air correction jets 140 main jets 45 f23 idle jets Just looking for a little feedback, maybe someone who has a similiar setup could shed some light, I'm kinda thinking that unless I modify my engine i probably wont gain much at all.. might just save these for another project..

G'day guys. I've got a pair of Excel G Rear shocks here, 344223. Which suggests Mitsubishi. They look practically new, i bought them off a mate of mine who had them in his 3tgte T18. No i know Excel G's are stiff, but i'm beginning to think these are fubar.. Pushing down on them neither me, or any of my mates can get them past about 10mm compression, and it's a bloody stiff 10mm.. Been pulling all kinds of Hulk moves on these bad boys and can't figure it out. They've been in his car and he reckoned they haven't been laying down.. So is it likely these are Fubar'd? Or need to be used to soften up?

Ok here we go! 5k block,dished pistons machined to flat tops,block decked to suit,4k head,isky chevy lifters,430lift cam,fully balanced,datsun 12a push rods,new oil pump,all new bearings big end,mains,cam,all meassured 1.5-2.5 thou clearances. Now for the problem this is the third cam & lifters we have put in in 12 months all been the same and getting very pissed of. Start up cold 60-70 psi oil preasure once warms up drops back to 8-10psi at idel 1000rpm. Running Penrite 25-70 extra 10 oil,has any one out there had same/similar issues as this? would like to here from you so as we can sort this problem out. Cheers :- Stuart (Thomas dad).

I'd like to record a few things like suspension travel in the rally car but have no idea about how to go about it. I could rig up a mechanical system to get maximum compression over a rally stage, but would really like something to record 10 or 15minutes worth of movement. Then it will be G-forces, steering input, pedal movement.. I can see this will never stop! So, if anyone has any ideas on how you record data, store it and display it later I'd like to know. Farmspec of course, I could go and spend a couple of hundred thousand dollars and buy the commercial packages, but I'm sure ingenuity can do it. i have an 800W 12" kenwood subwoofer, and a earthquake 300W bridged amp... only problem is, the boot rattles like a f@$king tambourine. now i've tried to silicon up all the cracked tack welds on the bootlid between the skin and the bracing, but theres still some small rattle in there somewhere. has anyone else out there got a subwoofer with the same problems? i need to fix it beforei i go red again at the next set of traffic lights when people larf at my boot. BOOM, tinkle....., BOOM, tinkle.....

I just got a 4agze, with a shot S/C. Well i assume its dead because of the crazy size of the over drive wheel. any way, I've been thinking about fitting a S14 supercharger to the motor, i know there longer, but is it achievable, would all the piping flanges/bolts aliment be the same. Could i just run it away from the stock position, say swap it with the alternator. google seems to be not much help, only to say its not a direct bolt up

the 2zz-ge engine would have to be the most recent engine to be put into the corollas that we all now and love. Does anyone know anyone that knows them inside out ??? I've been chasing someone in brisbane or anywhere in AUS that can talk to me about them. We have yet another problem since putting in the 7k. once the motor seems to have warmed every time you start getting past half throttle its like someones pulled the choke out. Ease up and it runs like shit till it's burnt off the extra fuel. A guy at motor improvments said he had the same problem and just put larger points. Has anyone else come across this before :jamie:

hey guys well i have sorted out a major air leak, so that problem should be all gone now ... The new problem - the car free revs - even with the idle screw set at the lowest, it revs at over 3,000RPM. This is with the mixture screw set about 1 1/2 turns out. This is with the throttle gear returning to the closed position (e.g. the throttle cable isn't tight and holding the throttle open. ..) The jets in it are 130 primary, and 132 secondary. It is an automatic choke model, but the choke valve is all the way open so should have no affect ... The motor is a 4k .... ARG! ANY help would be great guys, cars been off the road for almost a week…

Hi I'm looking for advice on flywheels. I have a K series powered clubman sports car and I have a 5k for it. I want to fit a light flywheel. I have seen a TODA one listed for a 4k but it is very expensive. Can someone tell me (a) if there are problems fitting a flywheel for a 4k onto a 5k motor and (b) where do you get a light flywheel which costs less than a whole engine?! Thanks

Well, i took the ke30 to the drags last week, and things didnt go so well.. :D I spent the morning setting the boost to the precise 11 psi, and making sure everything was sweet, and loaded her on the trailer and off to the willowbank raceway. On the way i dropped into the servo to pick up some octane boost i normally use the nos brand but all i could get was some dodgy "octane boost and clean". So thinking this would be better than nothing, i put it in :D . On my first run i forgot to let the tyres down to 18, and smoked the tyres pretty bad, but once i got to third it was breaking down like crazy, it was running that bad that i was changing gears at 6000. Hi everybody, i am very new to this forum stuff, so please help me out along the way. I have a 1991 toyota corolla hatch AE94. The engine for my car is a 4A-FE. The problem is I'm starting to get a little bored smile.gif so i would like to know how to increase the power of my car, even if its just a little. Hopefully getting the extra power with out putting a new engine (e.g. 4A-GE) or a turbo set up in my car. I am very happy with my car, just want a little more power. Was just wondering what is the best and most effective way to get more power out of a k motor? eg. supercharger, turbo, efi or anything else that anyone knows of. Hi all, I am having great difficulty getting a pair of kits to suit my new carbies. I keep getting asked 'what vehicle where they released on?' How the phuk would I know!! The carbies are Aisan and numbered 24060 & 24070, they are Toyota supplied and I think are on the original K series manifold. Can anyone tell me the Make, Model and year of the vehicle this was originally released on?? I suspect it is a 'Japan only' model? EDIT: ignore the filters they are not original.

hey guys ive just picked up a ice thermo fan for my ke55 4k now the wireing is no issue I'm wondering about fitting it to the radiator it says to push a whole through the fins and out the other side and bolt it on ive never done this befor and wanting to no if thats the right way cuz I'm worried bout stuffing a radiator it doesnt seem right to me anyways any help would be great cheers mitch

Hey, I have searched everywhere for adjustable (camber and caster) tops to suit a KE55. Haven't found them anywhere. Nolathane, Noltec, Wholesale Suspension, Pedders, King Springs etc. All of them have said that they don't make them anymore. Can anyone help with this problem. Pleeeeaaaase.

hey i was wonder if would do anything if i hooked up the heater fan inside the car as a electric turbo supercharger thingy hook it up so that the outlet goes straight to the carby instead of that radiator thing that goes to the vents and i would be cool because i could adjust the speed of the fan thanks

ok last suspension bit to replace. drivers side came off easily. passenger side won't fn budge. i've soaked it in crc. and still won't budge. i'm using a big set of vice grips. anyone had this problem? what tools have you used to get em off?

i drive a 2 door ke30, still got the 3k with a side draught webber and extractors. next is exhaust when i have the money free. i don't want a huge increase in horsepower but wouldnt mind a lil more grunt :no2: would it be easier to fit a small turbo (and what size would people reccomend?) or just go to a 4k or 5k? i don't really have heaps of money, space at my house or any of the equipment for engine swap etc. so what does everyone reckon? open to constructive critisim cheers guys :dance:

hay all i just put a 5k in my ke30 rolla acouple of months ago and i want to upgrage my brakes. i have ra60 strutes and calipers and i was going to put them on but I'm not now because of camber issues. i want to put ke55 brakes on but i need to no somethings???? can i just bolt the ke55 disks and calipers to my ke30 strutes???? or do i have to change the hole lot to ke55 calipers/strutes and disks???? cheers shaun

ok so i recently purchased a 94 csi hatchback for dirt cheap and i knew it had engine problems i took it to a family friend who is a mechanic and we thought we found the problem put in thermostat new head gasket new hoses new water pump and i still have the same problem whenever i take it for a little bit of a thrash it overheats on me does anyone know what could be the problem? is it the engine? it's only done 160,000km as well no matter what i seem to do it just goes back to the same thing would an engine swap solve this? if so what is recommended if someone could help me out it would be appreciated thanks

ok guys, took my car to the mechanics and there diognostic was that the boost is blowing the spark out, the spark was around 10-000 volts where it needed to be around 30-000+, they recomended to go electronic distributor the thing is my old engine was running points and it ran fine, loved the boost, my boss (mechanic) told me that theres something wrong and it might not be getting enough power in, i have tryed new, plugs, points, dizzy'z, condensors, leads are fresh as are the rotor buttons and dizzy caps, i have mucked around with plug and point gap, no difference, also heaps of different timing. it runs better but still not great with the turbo pipe off…

hey all I'm not brilliant at mechanical fault finding so here is the problem 4age from an ae86 (RWD manifold) just dropped into a ke70 and it is doing something wierd, if we unplug the injectors the engine doesnt change revs much (maybe 50rpm max) the idle is alright and at correct rpm, the TPS is set correct and there is plenty of fuel as you can smell its over fueling and see it on plugs too when you goto rev it the timing changes so much that it doesnt want to climb revs fast, gets up to temp like normal and stays there we suspect the oxy sensor is to blame but we don't to what degree it effects the performance (obviously mixture is effected but to what exten…
