  4. Hi I have a ae102 seca a couple of days ago I noticed a thud in the rear left as the wheel spins. I have swapped the wheel with the front left to see if it was the wheel but made no difference. Any suggestions on what it could be? I jacked the rear up and freely spun the wheel and there was no thud, so could it be in the suspesion.

Hi Guys, I recently bought a c160 6 speed Ae111 gearbox, it has arrived and i am trying to confirm it is the 6 speed as advertised. Only markings are from the importer who labelled it ae111 6mt(i did confirm with them before buying that it was a c160). I have tried moving the selector and can only get it into the red positions shown below. Is there any trick to getting the reverse gear? or where is the 7th gear position, or is this a 5 speed. Want to find this out before raging the seller. Thanks in advance

Gday all, I have a 1999 AE112 Hatch that's central locking appears possessed. Driving after about 10 minutes the locks try and unlock themselves. Is this a common occurence? After you've stopped, locked the doors and walked away, they open by themselves also. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello I need some advice . I have recently put a s14 sr20det into my 1981 ae70 lift back. As with the power upgrade it is certain to say I need better brakes and suspension. I have been lucky enough to have been gifted some s13 front brakes but is as far as I have got . Was wanting help on what master and slave to use what else I need to put the brakes on and what affordable rear brake combo to use in conjunction with the s13 front . And also a way to get around Nissan front and Toyota rear stud patterns . Please help!!

hey i just lurked the first 10 pages of tech forums and couldnt find what i wanna know so here goes... firstly, I'm gonna put coilovers in the ae71, I'm thinking s13, with s13 brakes...as I'm a nissan boy :( what is involved, IE: control arms changes and what not?? and is it au falcon springs with now shorter shockers for the rear? second, the diff, will be welded i guess, needs to be disc break rear and keep same stud pattern. what should i use, T-series diff?? if so what has to be changed to put it in?? also will the falcon springs still work with that diff?? will neede to be able to support ca18det amount of power also any help will be awesome thanks…

How restrictive is the standard inlet system on 4A-C's. From looking at it it seems quite restrictive as it has two sharp bends in it. What are some alternative inlet systems that are still road legal, as in not pod filters.

How strong are the auto's, trying to decide whether to fasttrack the manual swap or not. do they handle the occaisonal heavy downshift ok without wanting to spew oil everywhere or strip out the clutch plates or similar? it's currently only a daily and will rarely be driven in anger. would just like a little head's up if I should nurse the box or if it can take a little. Hi all. Firstly, my missus has been complaining that the brake pedal on her 71 sometimes goes almost to the floor then the next time its nice and firm, any ideas?. Secondly, the auto in this thing nearly takes your head off when it changes into second gear. Is this normal? it would be ok if it was worked but it is dead stock. :) Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hey guys we have done a manual ae71 pedal box into a auto ke70 and i have now found that the steering column bolts do not line up with the holes any more. Is this a common problem or not. If so how do you fix it. I have noticed that there is a spline on the steering column in the engine bay and maybe that can be brought out a little to make it fit but thought i should ask before i did this. Can post pics if you are unsure of what i am saying. Cheers guys.

Hi Guys, Wondering if anyone could shed some light on the pinion spacers in standard AE71 Diff Are these crush washers or are they a solid unit? I have had to replace the pinion with a spare i had and wondering if i can re-use the original? Thanks

  31. Hello. Just curious as to any radiators people have used to replace and upgrade the standard item in their AE71/KE70 4age project. Ill need one before the heat of summer kicks in. I'm looking for something about 410mm high, by 550mm wide, with both hose connections on the drivers side. So far my best option is looking like a rebuild of a standard one, to include 3 cores. This costs in the vacinity of 500 dollars, so Id rather find something potentially better and cheaper. I don't mind fabricating any mounts to make it fit. don't be shy now.

  34. Steering rack ends in the AE71 need replacing. I can't find any info on doing this on the 'net - usually my search skills are beyond immediate reproach, even if not so once subjected to detailled and relentless scrutiny ... If someone has a link to some info, that would be very groovy. Alternatively ... maybe someone can indulge me with answers to the following questions: Before I start breaking out the ramps, tools, removing rack boots and generally opening a can of worms I don't want ... what's involved? :) Is replacing the rack ends a big job (I've replaced inner and outer tie-rods and rebushed the whole front end on the 25 before ... ) best left to som…

Hello all. Just a couple of questions. Currently fiddling with AE71/4AGE/T50 combo. The conversion is done, and running well. Car is club car never to be registered and runs on dirt. My problem is understeer. I have changed front springs to 175lb as per rally forums and chatting to well known suspension mob in Melbourne and rears have one coil removed (for now with king springs on order) Car has slightly raised front ride height for that "nose up" rally attitude and with one coil removed slightly lowered rear (still noticeably softer than front). Shocks are in working order and I have standard front and rear sway bars. I have run as sweep for local rally sprint on rally t…

Hi All I recently had a drifting accident which has prompted me to get a new diff that happens to have been welded! But it is a t18 diff out of an te72 rolla or celica. Ive heard although the ae71's and the te72 both run the t50 gear boxes because the te72's are older the number of output splines in the gear box are diifferent? Any one know if this is true? If this is not true i could just run the t18 tail shaft with no probs to my gear box. If it is true is there a way to use the stock ae71 tailshaft and connect it to the t18 diff? Cheers for any help Stuart
