Hey guys, my old man's having a bit of trouble with his stock '91 Corolla Seca. The engine i'm pretty sure is a 4A-C, it's a transverse twin cam carburetted engine. It's done roughly 270,000km's and it's auto. The small problems have only recently increased in severity, they are: * Won't kick into gear at 80km/h unless you let go of the accelerator * When i'm travelling at 75-80km/h and accelerate hard it "kicks back" a gear but struggles to get past 80km/h * When the engine's just been started, it wont allow use of the overdrive function (despite driving over 80km/h) * When the engine's just been started and transmission moved into Drive, it will roll about for 4-…

A combination of an uncalibrated tension wrench and/or, weak bolts and carelessness, has left me with a broken flywheel bolt for my smallport. We have managed to remove the broken bolt. Now what can i do? does anyone have any laying around? Particularly Adelaide? ASAP>? Should i ask for genuine toyota, or can i match the bolts at a motor traders. etc provioded they are high tensile steel and exact dimensions? Wreckers even? furthermore, should i replace just the one, or a whole set of 8, seeing as one broke, i don't want to take a risk with any others...if so, will a wrecker be fine or should i try source brand new? thanks guys

Hey Hey, I put my wheels off my ae82 twincam on my daewoo cielo and there is always a vibration at 100kph like the wheels are unbalanced. They're 15x6 and 195/50/R15 and a tire shop my boss and my self have balanced them and the vibration is still there but its only there with these wheels and tires. When i fitted them they fit fine on the studs and they are the same stud pattern. Any ideas

Hi, Ok the 3K in my KE30 is getting old and well its starting to over heat on long hot summer day trips. Now the radiator in the car is a bit tired and I gotta spare here I wanna clean up paint, add thermo fan to and get it all going. Then hopefully do a motor swap so I can have reliable slow fun again. But The spare radiator I have has been used a bit before (was not long recoed but and is still in top nick.) But the radiator has a heap just bits of gunk, small pebble looking things, general radator crap in it. I wanna give it the best clean out possible. How should I do this? I tried just pumping water through it no work :hmm: I'm thinking a chemical…

Does anyone know what is involved in fixing this problem? The engine is a small port 4age. I’ve only just brought it and apparently there was a problem with the old harmonic balancer key way having too much clearance. The harmonic balancer I have looks alright but I’m a bit concerned about the key on the actual crank. It looks a bit worse for wear. I haven’t got the new balancer on yet as the key would need to be filed down a little I think as it’s hitting the balancer. It looks kind of bent and worn so I’m thinking it would just get worse until it brakes.

Hello hello all... If i had a RollaRides thread, i'd point you in it's direction. But i don't, so i shall just explain my intentions haha. Picked up an AE71 off eBay for the grand total of $325. Have the intention to learn as i go, have some fun, do it on the cheap etc etc, common story. The car itself has a great interior, clunky as hell automatic trans, couple of deep rust parts that have now ben repaired... overall not as much damage as expected, mostly consisted of surface rust + a bit of a dented front which is to be cured with my newly acquired apron bar. Furthur down the track (once i get it back registered and with a year to kill) i have been offered a …

Hey was looking at my emissions diagram, and there's one bit labeled as the "canister", its situated in the front drivers side quarter, and true to its name looks like a big black canister, with one hose coming from pollution gear and another going towards the back of my car.....just curious

I'm having a bit of trouble with my ke55. Sometimes during turns my wheel locks up and can't turn anymore. I can release the wheel a bit then turn without problem or just pull real hard and hear a big knock. It's like it gets stuck on one point during a turn because once I yank it past that point it turns fine again. The steering has always felt pretty heavy, but now its playing up. I havnt driven it much lately and havnt had time to jack it and check it out. from a quick read up and amatuer opinion i think it could be pitman arm. what do you guys rekon, and how would be the best way to check/test.

hi all, I'm doing a 4age into ke70 conversion and have come across one of many problems, the rubber on the motor side of my injectors don't fit snuggly into the holes, they slip in and out with no effort. my question is, is this how they are supposed to be or do i need to invest in a new set of rubber rings? my thoughts are that when the fuel rail pressurizes the injectors gets pushed into the hole and they seal from the amount of force placed on them from the fuel rail. any help appreciated cheers

Ok so iv been working on my rolla for nearly a year now, and we are finally getting to the business end of the whole deal (its been really slow cos of work and other commitments) and now it wont start. It has spark, its trying really bloody hard to start, but it just wont quite. We have been using "start-ya-bastard" on it, and it turns over, kind of coughs once or twice, then nothing more. Last night we tried gravity feeding the carby, and it did the same thing, so we assume its been getting petrol. Please, any ideas of things to try or even someone who can tell me the fix, it would be much appreciated.

Evening guys. I have just stuck a 3K-C into a KE70; for about a day she went just fine, a good 3 hours total. Prior to insertion, the engine had been out of action for at least a year, but fired up strong and clean; it had been rebuilt prior to being laid up. Fired first go, didn't blow smoke, pulled well up until ~5000rpm, after which it would still rev, but not make power. And now drama has struck. It seems like it keeps running out of fuel; It will start, run for a few seconds, and then die. If you touch the accelerator, it dies. After a few seconds of cranking, it will do this over and over. If I leave it say, half and hour, it might run for 30 seconds? …

hello ladies and gents i have a quick question..... When you pull a ke70 gearshifter apart, and you have the bottom bit that bolts to the box, is there ment to be a rubber gasket or something rubber, inside where the shifter seats on the holder, if that makes sence In detail..... Shifter base, shifter stalk(where it goes into box and into gearknob), circlip, rubber surrounds, ........ I am asking inside the shifter base were it bolts onto the box, there is a circlip that holds the whole shifter stalk in place in the base, i need to know... inside the base is there ment to be like a rubber seal or 'spacer' i guess you could call it to hold the shifter against th…

Hey guys, when I was removing the diff, I seem to have farked the threads on the rear leaf mounting pins/bolts that go through the eyes.. My question is, can I just put normal bolts back in there or do I have to get them re threaded? I only ask as the pins have a splined edge on them for some reason? Any help appreciated. Cheers

Hiya all, Has anyone had experience before of a wheel spontaneously locking up? The rear right on my KE36 panelvan locks up after being stationary or while in 1st gear. a number of mechanics and brakes specialists have looked at it and it still hasnt been diagnosed. I think the diff is ok, also the gearbox, and i think its probs just the old brake cylinder, but?? Would anyone have any pointers? I've been a bit stumped by it, and need to get it fixed asap, so i gotta find a good corolla mechanic in Hobart area. Cheers all, go well..
