Hi all, nice site, I have recently picked up a stocko ke55 sedan off ebay, it is dual fuel and I have got it regoed (it only cost me $165 off ebay) its a 5 speed with air con. things ive discovered: misses on number four after 3-5 minutes of warming up. headgasket? sticky valve? when i take off or compression brake i hear a clunk and the steering changes, I'm guessing the pivot bush on the rear springs needs replacing, at least one side needs it. i am wanting to do something about power upgrade without having to get it engineered, or rego changes. it handles like a dog atm, anything to stiffen it up would be great, so I'm basically asking advice or how to…

For any of you considering a 4AGE into KE30/KE55 engine swap, I found out the other day which engine mounts you should use (as I had to replace mine). What you want are either Ford Cortina ones. Now, there are at least two types available. One type has a thickness of 37mm, the other is 39mm thick. The 39mm thick one is also used on a Land Rover. The other measurements are shared by each type of mount. I got the 37mm ones, but I know of someone using 39mm ones, but there's obviously not a huge difference. In case your engine is mounted too low with these mounts, there are two other types available, one to suit Jaguar, and one to suit Volvo. Both of these had the…

I'm gonna buy or make some new bushes so I have some options: the cheapest option would be to make some new bushes out of nylon or buy some stock rubber bushes from toyota or buy some polyflex shit that is 30% stiffer.. etc.. I'm only upgrades bushes for the rear axle right now, I will take the front later.. I guess the polyflex shit that is really expenssive would be the best option, but how much better would it be than nylon bushes? have anyone tryed making theyr own bushes out of nylon? or something similar? noise, vibration etc wouldn't be a problem, all I want is less wheel hop... I can get nylon bushes for a sixpack of beer, but polyflex would co…

A student where I work is an old Rolla fan and has a problem with one of his struts. After cutting his coils one strut has locked solid. There is no give at all. Just wondering if anyone has struck this before because I haven't. Both coils appear to be the same length and the car looks to be sitting level so I can rule out that one coil has been cut to much and the strut has bottomed out. Unless he hasn't installed the bump stop properly I don't know.\ :D

my name is reuben and i own a 1979 ke55 corolla. which i have had for 3 years. it still has its original block thats been rebuilt with flat tops and chrome rings. i ported the head in my shead at home including all port matched. extractors 4 into 2 into 1 at 1 7/8 and into 2 inch at the first resonator. the 7200 rpm redline comes around pretty quick and 210 psi in each cylinder makes it expensive to run only really liking premium. thermo fan and electronic fuel pump all hooked up to the standard 4 speed and clutch. the diff, springs and rear brakes are all out of a wagon. new 2pak RX4 metallic purple with lots of clear. all up its cost about $900 including buying the ca…

My girlfriend has a '88 Corolla 4 door. I has about 115k on it, and was just in for a tune, also the exhaust was replaced. Since then, the car seems to be running rich, and idling low, the gas mileage has dropped from 50-60mpg down to 29-30 mpg. Any thoughts on what the issue might be? Bad injectors maybe?

Hey guys I own a 1984 corona and I was planing to sorta turn it into a rally car. The first step I was was going to get it higher off the ground. The logical thing in my eyes was to get suspension off a hilux ute or somthing similar but ive been told you can't fit it, since toyotas are rally bred and we all drive em I thought one of you nice people could tell me.

just realised that topics posted in sub-forums don't show up in the "recent posts" home page view. so ... I'm posting a link to my sub-forum topic here so it'll show up in the summary view ... in a nutshell ... I'll be replacing the head-gasket on the 4A-C (AE71) on the weekend and am looking for supporting info - Damm it, but Gregorys don't do a manual for the AE71 and I'm baulking at the idea of buying a later model corolla manual just to get the 4A-C info :P http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?showtopic=5982 cheers, Slapper

this is worth a post of its own I reckon. I've stuffed this into my offline favourites as it looks like it probably shouldn't be online ... so maybe it'll disappear. Looks like a complete late (from our perspective anyway) model 'rolla manual. http://aarc.epnet.com/application/8586/8586.htm enjoy, Slapper

Looking to give a standard AE82 h'back a bit of "attitude" on the road. As part of that, I'm looking at Kingsprings superlows (30-35mm lower) but these might be a little too low for my liking. Anyone know of a sort/brand of springs that wont drop the car as much as superlows ? Not planning a body kit at present though. There is a set of 4 new Kingspring superlows on eBay now for $220 - is that a reasonable buy ? thanks.

Hey All My girlfriend has a 91 Suzuki Swift sedan. It is carby-fed and has flat spots in the carby. It likes to hesitate on takeoff. I have spoken to a mechanic and he suggests that it needs a carby kit. I have no knowledge or want to rebuild it, and i was wondering if any of you guys had any suggestions on what i should do? Perhaps a place to go who will sort out the carby? On the northside? Obviously price is the bottom line, i'd like to keep it as cheap as possible. Cheers for your help fellas.

Before i start, my car is an Aus spec AE92 with an AFM 4AGZE. I installed an A/F ratio kit from jaycar a few days ago, it was only going to be there temporarily. Anyway, to cut a long story short, I left the Oxygen sensor wire off and it was on the interior, this morning i started my car and the oxygen sensor wire happened to touch the steering column and sparked (i didn't realise the thing was live!). The car then stalled & blew the EFI-Heater fuse under the bonnet, i replaced the fuse with another 15A fuse (reccomended type) and it just keeps blowing them, the car turns over but won't start. Any suggestions? every other fuse seems to be good, there is a coup…

I have recently purchased a 1968 Ke10 with a 4k and 4 speed in it. The car currently goes surprisingly good for a little 1300cc. The engine runs smooth and quiet, doesnt blow any smoke either. This leads me to believe it should be a relatively healthy engine. The car is basically standard but am looking to do suspension and front brakes. Wouldnt mind doing a few track days in it. I would like to get the most out of it with out spend way too much cash. 1st thing i will be doing is fitting a 5 speed. Then this is what i had in mind. - Extractors and exhaust (not sure on size) - Port and polish head - rebuild carbie with larger secondaries - Electronic ignition - Sp…

Hi, Just been cleaning up my 4K slowly still getting ready to put it into my KE30 and I noticed the top radiator hose mount on the motor is different. On my KE30 3K motor it has a switch on the housing with two lines running to it that are vacuum lines. And one goes to the carby and other to the dissy. Then next to it is a taped hole that is blocked off right now with a plug. See photo below. On the 4K I have from a KE70 on it's housing it has just one hole and in it is like a temp switch of some sort and nothing else. But on the other side it has the temp prob for the water temp same as the 3K in the KE30 so I know this switch on the top is not for temp but wha…

Hi everyone, umm I'm looking to lower my car abit more but before i can i need to know how much its already been lowered so i can get the springs ordered. Ive asked mechanics and they reckon they have to take out the spring to see how much its been lowered... I brought the car already lowered with 17's on it and the guy i brought it off doesnt know how much its been lowered because he didnt change suspension.. I don't want to go too low cuz it already rubs everywhere if i have people in the car or if i take hard corners, the gaurds are rolled and bashed out underneath etc etc. So i was thinking if i knew the ride height of a standard 16 twincam 88 then i could measure ap…

Hi all As way of introduction my name is Liam i live in Adelaide and i have 2 Corollas; A 1990 Ae95 AWD and I recently purchased the KE36 panel van with the flared guards that was for sale on the forums here. I will be taking the panel van on a trip to the Simpson Desert next year and would appreciate any opinions or advice anyone can offer on preparing the beast for the trip. A couple of things i thought of: ( I have searched the forum and web to try to find this stuff myself. No luck) I need to increase the ground clearance and upgrade the suspension front and rear. Has any one done this or know how this can be done? I don't know if the stock radiator will …
