Hey guys Basically I havn't had my ke70 for long, its an 84 cs and done 90,000 k's, but i'm having an issue. When idling, you can hear its at very low revs, and wants to drop out. The gearbox (5 speed) will shudder quite badly. Often in traffic it has dropped out completely, wether i be in neutral or in gear. So I'm always keeping my foot slighlty on the accelerator at all times. Also, when shifting, the car will shudder back and forwards, basically exactly the same as if you were trying to take off in 3rd or something. And when i shift, ill put my foot down and nothing will happen for ages, and when it does happen it does the shuddering as i just mentioned. That happe…

Hey guys. I have been trying to fit a pair of standard KE70 seats into my Panelvan but it looks like they aren't going to bolt in... I have spoken to a couple of Panno experienced friends and they seem to think that they should. I tried to bolt them in with and without the inner rear spacer but they are still off enough so the rails won't bolt up. Does the Panelvan have a unique floor plan or something? I really want to get some standard seats in for Roady and reg this week so help would be much appreciated. I also have a pair of KE70 seats with ke30(?) rails on them and they won't line up, not to sure if they are the same rails. Six pack of…

These have been running on the KE70 for several years, beautfully wrapped in the fibreglass cloth they sell for the purpose. The rowdy sound of a pipe cracked off the manifold means I pulled them off, and got quite a shock. They have been red-hot and soft enough for long enough to flow into a new shape. While the obvious place for them to get hottest is right by the head, you can see that the paint is still fine at the ends, it is only where the pipes join together that is has over-heated. I could wrap each pipe individually for the first part, but then had to wrap around all four at once, and that is where the metal got really hot. I assume the pipes were transm…

Hey guys, i've just got myself a Ke70, and there is quite a bit of rust that i wasn't able to see until i stripped the car down. I'm quite new to this and really this is my first time working on a car, so i'm not too aware of how to fix all rusted situations. So far I've removed some surface rust and minor rust here and there, but this rusted area was actually behind the left hand side fender. I saw that it was rusted from behind, so went and stripped the interior to investigate and found this. Its quite a tricky spot and i really don't know how to go about this. Any help would be greatly appreciated

So here is the deal; I currently have 2 wagons 1 Ae71 with a t50, and a busted diff center 1 Ke 70 wagon with a 4 spd etc I had a look underneath both wagos and was thinking of swapping the good diff from the KE70 in to the AE71, Both diffs to my understanding are borg and warner, (bolt housing facing the rear of the car). Is this possible ? will i have to modify anything to make it happen.....will the diff ratios be the same ....tailshaft ? Cheers A

Okay people, so after less than 5000kms my catalytic converter failed and since I'm fairly new to cars and equally new to money, I'm seeking some advice before I go ahead and replace it to likely have it fail again. The details: - The car is a KE70 with a 4AGE bigport - The engine is standard apart from the 4-2-1 headers and 2" zorst. - The catalytic converter is straight after the headers, there's probably 2 meters of headers between it and the engine. - The catalytic converter is a Lukey brand, ceramic type. What happened: - The car developed a weird rattle, then I discovered the rattle was coming from the cat, then recently it became very loud and annoying…

Hey everyone, I got a question.. Will SA60 celica front suspension, (by suspension I mean: complete struts, lca's, brakes and caster rods) fit in my AE71 corolla? I am already aware that the spring rates will be different, but an other thing I want to know is, will the caster rods from the celica work with my corolla or should/ can I use my ae71 ones? And also are the celica lca's longer then my ae71 ones, like will they give me more camber?

Hello fellow car enthusiasts I'm the owner off a 1981 toyota corolla KE70 and i have a question about lowering the rear suspension for this car. I have read multiple times that there is no option to put coilovers in the rear unless you strenghten the chassis. Because i have no knowledge about that i want to go with lowering springs. What i have read is that if i have a KE70 younger then 1982, AE86 springs will fit in the rear. Is this true? If so, will these springs fit in the rear? https://technotoytuning.com/toyota/ae86/swift-japan-6kg-rear-lowering-springs-ae86-corolla If so, can i use adjustable koni shocks in the rear as well? Or do i need the …

Hey all, I have recently come into possession of an 1984 model ke70 and the starter motor has seemed to have a pretty hard life and has decided to give out. So now I'm chasing a starter motor for it, I have called up all the local wreckers and haven't been able to come across anything except an ae82 with a 4ac. I was wondering if the starter motor off this would fit my 4k or would even the internals swap over into the 4k starter motor? Thanks for any help

Hey guys, I just picked up a TE72 and I was wondering what the difference was in the TE72 and the KE70? I know the motors are different but is there any difference at all in the chassis (sedan)? Can I take any suspension modifications used for the KE70 and apply them to the TE72? I know this is probably in the wrong section but I've tried googling the difference and I can't find a definitive answer. I've been reading a lot on the KE70 because there is a lot more information out there then on the TE72 and I'm hoping it's not in vain. Thanks guys

I'm currently assembling my coilovers for the last time. I am running KYB AGX inserts and have also purchased some BC spring hats and camber tops - the sleeve in the spring top isn't big enough to fit it on to the thread on the shock. Has anyone run in to this problem before? Can I have it machined to fit? What spring hats/camber tops are compatible? EDIT: Looks like t3 spring hats might work?

hey guys I'm a 19 yo 3rd year apprentice mechanic, whose just bought a little 4 door KE30 with a 3k and a four speed behind it. the rings are shot in the fourth cylinder and its full of oil. blows a little bit of blue smoke, but the cylinder four plug is caked in oil. (hence why i think the rings are cactus) i have a 4KC Engine sitting here and wan't to throw it in but i was just wondering is there anything i should tweak out of the car? ( i thought i could play around with the higher compression of the 3k head on the 4k block ) but any suggestions would be super, cheers.

Hi guys, I'm going to buy a ke70/ae71 and be lowering it so it basically sits on the guards, but I want the swaggy drift look without it having a shithouse ride. I'm thinking 15x8 but not sure what tyre to put on it. I want a comortable ride since my young niece and sister will be in it. I know there's a million threads on tyre size, but this is also about a comfortable ride, a SAFE ride, and not letting the tyres slide off the rim. Is it possible to run 165/45 or 175/45 without too much hassle? 165/45 is what I think looks the best, but I don't think it's going to be as safe as a 195/45. I know I know, another ke70 stretch thread, but if you're gonna have a go at…

Hello there rollaclub. I'm busy building my ke70 and i have the chance of buying a fresh rebuilt AE86 rear axle with cusco 2 way fitted 4.7 weir CWP all new seals and bearings, solid pinion spacer big shafts. only done 600 miles since rebuild, complete inc discs and calipers. And now i was wondering if the axle will go in no problem in my KE70. I have read that it would fit with ease but i just want to ask it in here to make sure. I also have a Ae86 driveshaft to do the complete 4age conversion. Thanks
