I purchased this '81 KE55 Sedan off ebay for $660 as a donor car for my KE20 build. 225,000KM. Fortunately but unfortunately i've decided to keep the car complete and restore her to orginal condition. I'm not entirely sure of it's history but its in need of panel work, veery minor rust repair and some paint on the front left quarter and door. I love the colour... It's a 4-kc, 5 speed gearbox, which may end up in my KE20. Runs well mechanically and no smoke. It still has leaded fuel in the tank, which I believe is the reason behind the idleing problem being 10 year old fuel. Plans for the car are- *4speed gearbox *cheviot meshies *3kb manifold *service brakes, engine…

After almost 10 years the 2017 Ascent Sport hatch is officially mine. Not my wife's. We purchased this Corolla new in late 2017 for my wife as a daily driver. The old ZRE182R Ascent Sport hatch in something blue gem. 2ZR-FE, 6 speed manual. Factory tint, mats &, tow bar. Added the ceramic paint protection as well. Long story short, the gearbox gave up, so it sat in limbo for about 6month. Turns out towing a 6x4 trailer full of road base wreaks havoc on the gearbox's input shaft bearing. Even though it was a couple of years ago, it likely initiated the eventual failure. These little cars don't utilise a spigot in the back of the crank, so total drive load literally e…

First of all i know nothing about corollas, i bought one on the weekend and its the first one ive ever own. I'm here to learn as much as i can about the car and how to make it go faster without spending a shitload of money. I bought a KE20 corolla with an engine from a T18(whatever that is) in it, it goes pretty good and its like driving a go kart cause the thing only weighs 860kgs. previoulsy ive only owned utes which ive lowered the shit out of, i still own an 87 king cab navara with all door handles, badges, fuel filler etc shaved and some other body work done to it, its too low though and without airbags i can't really drive it anywhere without scraping the leaf sprin…

I have viewed a few engine conversions that have been done and are in the making but i have seen one that hasnt been mentioned here yet that my mate has done on his ke70,it is a very cheap and fairly straightforward conversion. My mate put 2.6 4g54 sigma engine and 5 speed box (which he scored for free) into his ke70.He fabricated has own engine mounts, moved the gearbox crossmember slightly rearwards, swapped the sigma slip yoke to the corolla tailshaft(sigma and corolla share the same uni joint!!)made a gearbox mount out of an old strut bar bush, exractors were custom made(possibly the dearest part of the job ,standard corolla clutch cable(with a 4kc engine)hooked straight …

Got the first stage of the Gorilla done, 4 link rear end, shortened Hilux Diff with ford axles and disc brakes, coarse adjustable inverted watts link, adjustable sway bar, in a KE55. The plan with the car is to build a bit of an all rounder, as we don't get enough drag racing, or track racing here to specialise in one or the other. I'm building it so that I can adjust bars/springs change wheels and tyres and have a bit of fun any chance I get. A bit like a track car that I can get to hook up at the strip. Has been 2 years to get this far, but slow progress is still progress! I have a Commodore K-frame sitting on the floor in the shed, and I've heard that they can be put …

Well, I finally got the Corolla that I wanted! Picked it up last weekend. It's a 79, 4 door, 5 speed. Got some minor rust on the quarter panels but we'll be taking care of that part soon. Right now it's painted flat black cause the guy we got it from has a thing with painting all of his cars flat black. I guess it was a gold color orginally so I might go back to that or paint it blue to match my husband's 2 door 79. Husband's working on it as we speak. Nothing on it, pretty stock, just centerlines at the moment but who knows what else is going to happen to it. Wish me luck!! Any ideas are greatly appreciated!!

The Story: Bought this today off 'never'. It was a 'must buy' situation as i have been obsessed with this particular little car since i was old enough to walk. This car was owned by my old man's karting buddy for 20 or so years. To say this man was fussy is an understatement and it needs to be seen to be beleived. Anyway after sacrificing a nice KE55 hardtop and clean Commodore daily driver the car was in the garage. The Plan: The motor is in need of a thorough tune as the mixtures, jetting and balance seem to be way out. Not safe or nice to drive at the moment. Hopefully get this sorted first and then move onto the other problems. The brakes require a fa…

I have plans to put simmons rims on her but am needing some input to what needs to be done to get a 4age into it. Also what gearbox and what brake and suspension upgrade would be best for a track/road car. Help would be apreciated, or even links to posts. Plans are to put a sun visor on it and maybe widen the stock 12". It does need new carpet and roof lining that will be done in the next few weeks. Other than that its up in the air. The car comes with a spare 3k engine and i am undecided whether or not build that up with cam, webbers etc.. or go for a 4/5k? would it be worth spending money on a 3k?…

I bought the Rolla from a family, who left their parent's car in the garage of an estate for years. Car had great interior, body in decent shape, and minimal rust, aside from the battery leaking acid onto metal. Corolla came with a 3kc 4 speed, which had 25,000 miles. I was suspicious of that, until I cleaned the jets on the rebuilt carb the car already had. Car runs like it just came out of the dealership new! I just wanted to share the journey of my find. 78 Corolla $800 Paint and body $400 (good paint shop) Baby supra 13x5.5 front 13x8 rear $100 Wrapped in kumho 175/70/13 front futura 205/60/13 rear free Suspension lowering $35 king springs free

Maintenance wise, just the basic stuff: upon delivery I replaced the oils, filters, spark plugs, contact points, rear diff oil, fitted new tyres and some water cooling lines which looked not good to the eye and to the touch (more like a preventive action). It is a 2 door sedan, I believe that is different from the coupe but am unsure, with a bit of superficial body damage to the right side and no rust to speak of. as far as I can tell all parts are stock. Well I've actually had this car for a long time. it started as a Standard ke35 that i bought for $200, used it as a daily till the 3k decided it had enough. I then threw a 2tg in it and T50 box. once I got some more power I blew 2 diffs. so I upgrade to a TA22 rear end converted to leaf springs. It liked this better. I started racing the car at sprints. Then I wanted a bit more from it and installed the race wheel and raceseat, plus some neccesary gauges for safety. After having some fun I got it lowered, the old fashion way...chopped the front…
