guys,i came upon one product which cleans the carb. start the engine, spray the chemical into your carb while revving your engine. my question,is this product worth it? i'm pretty sure the previous owner haven't clean it. apart from cleaning the inner part of the carb, will this product release the loss of power thru carbon built up or, it's just myth?

hey guys, pulled the weber off my 4ac today as it has been running like a bag of shit (and had to fix the linkage). cleaned out the jets, blew everything out, checked and cleaned out accelerator pump. noted one of the jets in the bottom of the bowl had a bit of shit in it and was half blocked. put it all back together, sealed up and bolted it back on. got it running and it was still doing the same thing that it was before. when you first start it, its pooring so much fuel down it, it will not run any faster then about 700rpm. over the next 3 minutes (as it starts to warm up i guess), it gradually builds up until it clears and is drivable (still very boggy at l…

Hello everyone... I am currently trying to get my 4age ignition sorted out! From want i have been reading i have been led to understand if i set up my stock 4age distibutor and coil with a GM HEI IGNITION MODULE it will work... Can anyone confirm this for me? Also what are some other budget options for carbed 4age ignition? Any help will be appreciated Thanks

How ya going guys, ive got a 84 rolla S and its been running like dream ever since ive got it a month or 2 ago, now the carbie is playing up. I pull the choke all the way out it turns over alright i give it a bit of time to warm up a bit, then i press the choke in 1 click and the revs flaten out and still runs fine then when it warms up to the 1st marker on the temp guage then i take the choke off and it stalls without a second thought. when i give the car some revs it dosnt stall but as soon as i take my foot off the accelerator it dies so I'm assuming its an idle issue. i checked the coolent, dunno what posessed me to do it and its a milky colour and it smells…

I have a bit of a dilema. I'm currently running a weber'd up 4AC KE70 on my P's. It's a good little car, around 90hp, plenty to play with. Despite of this, I will be upgrading to a 4AG when i'm off my P's and onto open in a bid for a bit more power. The question lies in whether I should go for Carbs or Injectors? The two options I am tossing up is a directly transplanting a small port into the car (the usual 4AGE conversion), or to go with the 16v head (and block) with twin 40mm solex's/weber's/dellorto's. I know the biggest concern with the carbs will be the fuel consumption, but that is something that does not conern me greatly. Plus, I have a bit of a soft spot for …

  8. Hey guys, installed new carby. all good except for the accelerator mechanism While my Throttle cable isnt connected, the mechanism which it connects to, on the side of the carby; works "fine" doesnt seem to feel real good, but still works, springs back to closed throttle and idles at approx 1k RPM But when the throttle cable IS connected, it appears that it restricts the mechanism from fully closing. Is this a matter of replcing the springs which allow the mechanism to return to close the throat of the carby? Possibly missing a spring??? Thanks guys

Right so this isnt a corolla carb, its actually a Suzuki Sierra carby...but hey a carby is a carby. I'm half way through putting a carby kit through it, and i have a question about setting the float level. I think the needle valve is actually a tad longer than one I pulled out, due to the fact that the adjustment is miles out. The manual gives me photo of the float with a measurement of 7mm from the bottom of the float to the gasket case of the casting (with the float/top of carby upside down and the weight of the float on the needle valve). And the float is parallel to the gasket face. In order to get this distance of 7mm I have to bend the bit of metal t…

Do K engines suffer from Carb icing. I have noticed since the weather got cooler here in Sydney that the beast stalls soon after driving off in the morning. Today with rain it stalled many times until it got really hot. Should I use the winter setting on the stock air cleaner?

I'm a man of many different vehicles and many different mechanical problems, which I'm sure is taking years off my life :) I have a suzuki swift cino 1.3lt SOHC with a carburettor, and it jerks and hunts terribly when driving on the highway (and chomps fuel too) but is quite ok when driving in town. The carburettor has had a kit put through it (by myself) the ignition timing is quite ok, it starts and runs really well in town. Now the question I have, when driving on the highway, at a constant speed, obviously not much load on the engine if any, what circuit would it be running on in the carburettor? I'm assumming the main jet would be the culprit, although a fell…

Given the inherent ploblem with the stock Aisan carby's running rich due to the floats, I have decided to go down draft Weber. The question is, which Weber (and jetting) best suits a stock 1.8 3Tc engine. Be mindfull, the aim is maintain factory econmy or better. Sadly performance takes second place... at the moment. :blinks:

had a few hassles getting my son to school this morning. driving along and the car starts spitting and farting like it was running out of juice. the fuel guage was low, so i assumed it had run out of fuel. the car stopped, so we went for fuel. get back, put a tin of fuel in and the car starts first pop. weird, it should have taken longer for the fuel to pump through. anyway it is still doing the same thing. i work out if i give it full throttle and slip the clutch i can still get places. anything below full throttle and it would just die. after i got home i started the car and sprayed carby cleaner around the base gasket, the engine instantly stopped. ah, major v…

Still new to learning so try not to bite my head off a little lol. Alright I was thinking of a Holley 180 to go onto my 4K. I know it will need an adapter plate and have all that sorted. Though my father thinks that maybe an old Falcon XD? XF? Or something along there era might actually work good too. The weber was used on the 250 Cross-Flow engine that was in the cars. Does anyone know there CFM rate on there carby? I have searched a little on google and couldn't really find the right stuff. Cheers..

Hi all, my 3tc in my t18 is not idleing properly, it will start and then to keep it running i have to revv it, if i don't rev it it the revs will drop down below 1000 then it will die or it will stutter and jump back up to 1200 or so then drop down and die, sumtimes it keeps jumping up from 200- 1200 a couple of times before it dies. this started happenijng yesturday on my way to a mates house, i was almost there so i jsut used the handbrake when comeing to a stop and reved as i was doing so, when i got to my mates i popped the hood and found the lid of my aircleaner(which was a homemade carboard one had come off, so i simply thought oh it was just breathing in to m…

  23. hey all ok i've just put a dellorto 40 sidedraft on and its backfiring through the rear barrel.also the gasket of the rear two cylinder is soaked with fuel as well. now the engine seemed to be running fine with the stock carby on it, a little rough at idle, but i put that down to having a stock carby on a sligtly worked 5K. putting this new carby on, i don't know if the engine is now showing the symptons because of the sidedraft and it now has two barrels so u can see that its got a problem, or there is something wrong with the carby. from what i know, i'm guessing its the engine, however i don't get why its running shit one one of the last two cylinders and n…

Hey All My girlfriend has a 91 Suzuki Swift sedan. It is carby-fed and has flat spots in the carby. It likes to hesitate on takeoff. I have spoken to a mechanic and he suggests that it needs a carby kit. I have no knowledge or want to rebuild it, and i was wondering if any of you guys had any suggestions on what i should do? Perhaps a place to go who will sort out the carby? On the northside? Obviously price is the bottom line, i'd like to keep it as cheap as possible. Cheers for your help fellas.

G'day guys. I've got some widened steelies about to go on my ke10, they're datsun 1200 ute rims according to my mate. The centre-bore of the rim is bigger than a conventional ke70 etc centre cap, so i can't use them.. The bore is 67mm.. So my main question is does anyone have any idea of what Toyota centre caps would fit? As i want them looking kinda stock-ish And before it's mentioned i know i can get aftermarket mag wheel caps and just slap toyota logo's on them but that's really not what i'm after.. Any ideas? Cheers!
