Gday guys, my AE82 died on me a few weeks back and after playing with it for quite a while, the only thing i can put it down to is the timing. now i heard somewhere that corollas have an auto-retard system? i havent been able to find any information on that at all. if anyone could give me any input into that that would be great. i really need my car back on the road |blink|

hi everyone i have a ke70 that ive had for about a month now, has stock motor, clutch,gbox n such anyways just now got abit bored so went for a quick trash at a local dirt road, a couple of handbrake clutch dumps here n there and then my clutch suddenly felt wak, it was very loose to press, and would crunch on alot of gearchanges unless the revs were match perfectly so i headed home, on the way i decided i was angry at it so i gave it a good kick on one corner now the losseness is gone and it feels ok again, but it still crunches on gear changes, especially changeing down and its not slipping its just like...crunching? so what have i f@$ked? and what do i …

Hey guy's, I'm 14 and currently in the market for my first car to start building to have something decent by the time i get my L's. I've been steering towards a KE70 as i really like the shape of the car in general and there seem to be alot of modifications out there available for the cars. My main question is, what sort of price will a close to stock KE70 be? I'm not looking at spending a awful lot, just enough to buy me the car with maybe a set of wheels, other than that I'd do the rest myself. I'd preferably look the square front (I'm assuming that's what it is, without the headlights slanting forward?), i prefer them over the other style of KE70. Any help wou…

Hey guys, I'm just wondering if theres any easy way to get the dash pad out of an AE71, i did it in my T-18 once but it required pulling the whole dash out to get to the bolts up the back Any suggestions would be appreciated, just pulling it out to mount an oil pressure light to it for racing Phill

hi all, just bought myself a 5k dizzy from the wreckers and want to know where both of these lines from the vacuum advance mechanism are meant to go. Because the 3k one that I'm using at the moment in my 5k motor only has one line that goes to the bottom of the carby. I was wondering if i need to use both or if one was some sort of emission line. :P

Well i pulled the clutch of my 4ac as i don’t need it any more because i'm waiting on a 4age to put in i pulled it off and found this i don’t think this is standard Toyota gear although could be i don’t know this is the first corolla I’ve worked on properly the paint is funny its got a iridescent shine like an oil sheen its weird and also looks like its been laced with string, better gripping??? the pressure plate is repco brand but i couldn’t find any number or code or brand name on the clutch plate got me stuffed cheers

Gaday, I'm thinking of putting sigma control arms in my Ke30 rally car to try and get some camber, and i can't't find any information on how to fit them or how much camber you will get, any help will be greatly appreciated. cheers

hey.. i want to spray my head black is it as simple as removing the head painting it n putting it back on.. i know i need to use a certain type of paint etc.. removing the head - is it just taking out the two bolt on the top of the head at either end?? I'm very new to cars but I'm getting along.. :P cheers

Hey people, i have already done the conversion some time ago but was just wondering how much power they can take before they go bang. I plan on bolting a s14 T28 to the side of my freshly worked 5k and possibly running it in the local hillclimb, will the diff and gearbox handle it without too many hard launches or burnouts? any help would be greatly appreciated, cheers.

How strong are the auto's, trying to decide whether to fasttrack the manual swap or not. do they handle the occaisonal heavy downshift ok without wanting to spew oil everywhere or strip out the clutch plates or similar? it's currently only a daily and will rarely be driven in anger. would just like a little head's up if I should nurse the box or if it can take a little. i have a 4agze with turbo setup and wondering where people have got the water feed from water outlet from there aint many locations to get them from it don't have factory hoses as its a rwd so where on block etc can i put these lines to or what hose should i put to any help from some1 thats done this before appreciated thanks

Hi everybody, i am very new to this forum stuff, so please help me out along the way. I have a 1991 toyota corolla hatch AE94. The engine for my car is a 4A-FE. The problem is I'm starting to get a little bored smile.gif so i would like to know how to increase the power of my car, even if its just a little. Hopefully getting the extra power with out putting a new engine (e.g. 4A-GE) or a turbo set up in my car. I am very happy with my car, just want a little more power. I don't have very deep pocket either sad.gif still a student and work part time. All your input will be very appreciated. thank

Hi, Well doing up my KE15 cooling system and I want to do it properly so I can make a WIKI article on it. So one part I want to do is cleaning the thermostat. Now these are all tested and work. But are covered in crap :wink: What is the best way to quickly clean them? can I grit blast them safely? Pic below of the mess they are. Cheers Cameron

Hi all, I've been considering buying one of these for a while: Innovate Motorsports LM-1 Plan is to wack an O2 bung in my exhaust(S), plug it in and take her for a run, dump a map of AF vs RPM, see what I get and tune accordingly. At the moment, the plan is to use it for Dellortos, and a K-Jetronic FI System. I'm keen to do it for the sake of learning and perhaps saving money on tuneups etc! Plus, If I get any good, I can tune other cars as well! Just wondering if anyone else has had tried their hand at this and what sort of fun they had? Hey guys. Pretty excited... went down to Bob Janes to see what wheels they had as I've been wanting to get wider ones.. I looked through the rims they have and they're all not really suited to corollas... also, when the guy saw my car he realised that all the wheels we'd discussed wouldn't fit because it's a RWD KE70. As it turns out, a guy had ordered superlites and never picked them up... and they fit perfectly on my rolla. They look so friggon awesome too... not fancy, just simple and look SO good. I can't remember the exact specs of them but they're 15". I've already put a deposit on them (superlites and some nice chunky new tyres) for $600... and the total cost is $1…

Hey guys, on the way to work today, and i noticed when i push back / accelerate onto my seat, the left side back support seems to have given way. i have no idea how to fix it and its really anoying me now, as when i turn i almost end up in the passenger seat. Hey guys. Went down to Mettams Mufflers in Midland (WA) this week and got quoted $680 for extractors and a 2" sports exhaust. The guy just wrote 2" sports but I'm assuming he means exhaust, yeah? I was wondering what is the difference between a 4k an a 4k-c, is it to do with the emmission controls i realise it may be a stupid question but i don't know alot about the k series. I'm wanting to know cause i have a 4k and I'm able to get a 4k-c engine manual. any help would be geart cheers

Hey Hey, I just picked up some HILUX 4x4 calipers for my rolla and was thinking about giving them a coat of paint to clean them up a bit. I was thinking about chucking them in the medium blaster at work, but I don't want to strip them because they work fine. Can I just mask off any areas that should be avoided like the pistons? obviously it will need some heavy duty tape or a few layers at least. Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on the do's and don't's. Cheers Dan

Hi, Was going to replace my KE15 glove box the other day with a new one I had for it. Went to remove the original KE15 one and noticed this: The elastic mount int eh top. Looks like it has been there since new. Can anyone confirm if it was and if they are original what went there? As my other original box has no elastic in it at all. Cameron

Who can identify this gearbox?

This is a stupid question but I don't care. How far can I fill up my engine oil? I've got a KE70 but I was driving around today and I had it in 4th (4speed) and it was wanting to stall... later on I turned a corner in 2nd and it nearly stalled... got home and it stalled... I checked the oil and it was completely empty. I felt pretty stupid. :jamie: So (without looking at the dipstick since it's not accurate enough) how can I tell when to stop filling it up? I know not to go right to the top... but surely there is some generic way of telling? Cheers.
