OK, so say you want your project car to be bare metal on the roads. Now you strip back the paint only to find there are some hale size dents in the rear quarter pannel and chips on the gaurds...... 😞 How do you fill in the holes and make the metal it look original again? Cheers. ==O|-[_]*[_]-|O==

G'day gents and ladies I managed to pick up two 32/36 webers and I'm rebuilding them, but anyways first of all..they have butterflies that open as secondries when you really nail her, ok..does anyone have any idea about a bracket or a design setup so both butterflies open at the same time. Second, I need some sort of jetting info, they came off a 2ltr cortina but it's goin onto my worked 3k, I'm not sure what's done to it but it's got a decent sized cam and a 4k head, (apparent forged pistons but doubt it) anywho..some kinda idea for jets would be good also, does anyone know if the throttle cable is the right length, I have to modify it anyway to connect it b…

Hey all In a matter of weeks i'll finally have a ke10 sitting in my backyard. :) I've waiting 10 years and finally got one :) I'd like some help/ advice regarding front end setup. The ke will more than likely recieve a form of forced induction, more then likely 4agze The help with this steering and stopping i thought up a setup (mind you this just in my head with no knowledge of what fits etc.) Plan is ke20 engine cross member, ke20 lca's, ke30 struts and brakes for 4x114.3 convertion, ra40 tie rod ends, ke20 sway bar etc.. Now, i'm wondering does any see any problems with this setup? from a building or driving point of view? i don…

Now that I'm wrapping up the work under the bonnet I'm thinking of the other annoying little things and one is the play in the driver's side front wheel. When the car is on a jack I can wiggle that wheel a couple of mm, and it seems to be in the end of the rack. The balljoints in the tie-rod ends are fine, the whole tie-rod moves in and out under the rubber concertina. The manual says the passenger's side has a bush in it, but it appears the driver's side runs straight in the rack itself. Has anyone tackled this, and what have you done?? Can it be easily stripped, machined out and a bush made?? Is there a part that fixes it? Does a rebuilt steer…

doubting checking that my motor is in good nic before it gets pulled and i noticed that the dizzy shaft has a bit of play, twisting motion. some of it is comjng from an ill fitting rotor buttom but there is some on the shaft it self. ripped of the cam cover to find it not to constantly messhing with gear on the cam. is the way its supposed to be. ive got to replace the oil seal in the dizzy so want to do both at the same time.

i have a hydraulic clutch system where the pedal feels spongy, doesn't return fully all the time, and even stays depressed when you take your foot off. when the pedal stays depressed the clutch is not disengaged (ie it is connected to the engine). I cannot gain access to the slave cylinder as it is inside the bellhousing and not visible, however the fluid level is good, it doesn't appear to be leaking any fluid, there is no sign of any fluid at the master cylinder, and I have bled the system quite thoroughly. I'm seeking to diagnose whether this is the master or slave cylinder that is the issue - before I remove the gearbox or anything overly enthusiastic. I was w…

hey guys ive just recently fitted a surge tank setup in my car. However now my engine is not getting enough fuel as the car is not running smoothly and is misfiring. Ive double checked all the hoseing and everything looks to be in the right spot. I'm thinking the fuel pump is not pumping enough fuel?? Also when i switch the car to start the fuel pump doesnt prime, only until i completely turn the car on then it decides to pump fuel. If anybody can help me out it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

just thought i would see if anyone had any ideas on how i should tackle this. ive picked up a set of JIC coilovers for the s15. second hand unfortunately, but they look in very good condition overall....and they were cheap (traded some other parts for them) and i cannot for the life of me move the base on one of the rears!! for those unfamiliar with them they look like these (this is just a google image NOT MY ACTUAL ITEMS) http://i46.tinypic.com/2yye97b.jpg the one closest is a Rear coilover, you can see the base is threaded onto the shock body. the majority of coilvoers do not have the base adjustment, but these do and you can get more height out…

OK so my old temp gauge on my ke55s hasnt been working at all - i replaced it with a VDO and new sensor etc etc as well as water pump and thermostat. My question is now that I can see everything is working, the VDO shows the car heating up to about 100-110 and then suddenly dropping to 79 and staying stable all within say ten minutes max. I was quite alarmed when I saw the temp climbing so high - so basically, is the new thermostat faulty or is this normal and I'm not used to having an accurate guage ?? any help would be great :) cheers ps my daily driver is a golf and it just goes to 80 and sits there - has never gone higher ....

Hi there guys As the title says I can't for the life of me find this LEAK!! It's a ke30 4 door, I have tried the torch test, the hose test and I can't find reference to it being a common problem? It only comes into the two side compartments (where the jack is), not the wheel well, and once it's in it stays there til I empty it. The only time it leaks is when I drive in the rain, not when I wash it etc, so I'm thinking there are joins that open up under pressure? The real killer was last night I got home, the compartments were full and yet there was no water trail anywhere (dry dust where I thought it was coming from :bash: ) I see only 2 options-Go crazy with sikafle…

Hey guys I'm thinking about getting another ke70/ae71 and want it to handle like its on rails, i would pretty well like to know what i will need and what brands/ products to get. I'm also thinking about a 4age conversion in gime too but keep the motor pretty well stock besides extractors and exhaust. My questions are, What suspension to use, shocks and spring kg ect? Swaybars? Brakes? Do i get strut braces? Wheel size, tire size and anything else to make the car as close to a gocart as possible with a reosonable budget 3-4 grand?

I have just purchased a corolla with a blacktop 20 valve 4wd , not knowing too much about them I would like to know if anyone might know what might cause a noise I have from I think the engine. It does not sound like a bearing noise more like a growling whirring noise increases with engine revs. It's a little bit hard to explain exactly kind of sound.

Hey guys, I know its not a toyota, but i thought i would throw this up over here, as some of the most useful info i have received over the over the years has been from here. Over the past week or so ive noticed some smoke coming from under my ute when i pull up, finally got the time to pop the bonnet and have a look today, to find it pouring out of the vent on the other side of my oil catch can. To eliminate variables i pulled the hose off from the PCV and its doing the exact same thing. Its a continual stream, no pulsations, of white smoke, which doesnt really get damp when you hold your hand in front of it, ive got a little video here of what it is doing, exhaust s…

Okay, 1991 Cressida Grande. Well taken care of, 6th cylinder has started misfiring (the one closest to the firewall). I replaced all the spark plugs and ignition leads yesterday (and the air filter as I had to take part of the intake parts out anyway) to try to combat this issue. And it worked fine, but today the problem has returned. It's running a stock 7M-GE, which is burning off a small bit of oil and water, but no cause for alarm yet (I'm not needing to top it up every day and there's no blue or white smoke coming out of the exhaust). There was a bit of oil on this specific spark plug when I took out the old one, and it was abnormally tighter …

I have a general question regarding the performance of different suspesion setups relative to road surface condition. I live on a ruff as guts dirt road which means that my car is perpetualy dirty and everything rattles like crazy. I have often considered upgrading the suspension/wheel setup on my 4AFC AE92 but I have never bothered as my logic dictates that 'travel=comfort'. So I am currently rocking standard suspension with some basic 14inch steel rims (pretty sure they are off the late model lancer with new mags on it that I saw sitting next to my car when when I bought it a few years ago). Anyway I am interested in hearing peoples opinions on how stiff, lowere…

Has anybody modified a timing cover so that the camshaft timing can be adjusted (advance/retard) without taking the whole timing cover off? Here are some photos that I found on the net: K engine: T engine: The face of the timing cover is slightly curved, so bolting a plate of aluminium might have issues with oil leaks. From the photos there is a raised edge between the timing cover and the plate. Not sure if it is welded or bolted from the inside of the cover. The raised bit can have a groove so that an o-ring can fit in. Probably the raised edge is so the plate bolts don't stick though to the inside of the timing cover, and hittin…
