Hello and thank you for reading my topic :yes: I am an automotive enginering teacher from The Netherlands, currently I am working on a project in Sulawesi, Indonesia. The aims of the project are to increase the level of knowledge of both students and teachers at a small regional automotive school. The education here is quite poor. Just a little example: about 80% of the people here drive a Toyota (wich is a good thing of course :worship: ) of which about another 80% are equiped with a 7k EFI engine. ok, so i finally got some money and decided to service my crown with my new took kit. 5 of my 6 spark plugs came out fine but the number 5 just wont budge. the metal rod in the end of the plug tube started bending so i called a mate to come and use his 'stronger' plug tube. the plug ended up rounding his plug tube. i then called another mate to borrow his proper sparkplug socket. when he got to my house we found that it was too thick to fit in the gap between the plug and head. :lolcry: does anyone have any ideas? i'm thinking of taking it down the the local mechanic to see if they can get it out for me. cheers, hendo. ps. i have drowned it in WD-40 and CRC.

well a while back when i was using gasket goop, got it all over my hands and didn't notice at the time, but now I've noticed there's dried gasket goop on the paint, gah.....anyone know how to get this stuff off? Thanks guys

Hello, I have this question that has been in my mind for quite a while now (since running twin DHLAs) and thought I might actually as here if anyone has information about it. Basically, when I apply light throttle there is a whistle sound that comes from the carbies. If I open the taps right up, it stops but as soon as I take my foot of (round 0-50% throttle), the whistle is constant. I had a listen to each of the throats with a bit of hose, and it seems to come from all four. Now I was wondering if this is a normal sound with side drafts, or could it be something more...serious ;) ) I have heard a couple of varying stories, yet I really would just like other peo…

hey guys just picked up some DHLA 40 dellortos i have just ordered a manifold and low profile k&n filters for it and made up the throttle cable mounts ect ect just have some fitting questions will i need a bigger fuel pump? (from what i hear the only need about 4 psi and a standard pump is 3.5-4psi?) the carbys were on a 2ltr alfa engine when i got them will i need them to be rejetted to suit 4k? anything else i may need to know? thank guys :) mitch

hey would i be able to have 7afe cams re-profiled to be used as performance cams for a 4afe and would a 7afe ecu and injectors be able to be used in a 4afe if so where can i get these parts and how much are there any more torque creating mods for a 4afe i might be doing a swap later on but i wouldn't mind working a 4afe (easy to learn and work with) cheers

G'day guys. Just wondering if anyone knows if there is an easy strut conversion to do just so that the spring seat sits about 2-3 inches higher? Because i've brought a set of 17" Mags for my KE55 but the spring seat is only just sticking out too far and my wheel wont get enough clearance to bolt on. Hi all, I just got an AE82 with a 4AGE nice deal for only $200 but it needs a new clutch, I'm new to FWD cars i have never worked on them before just need to know what the best approach I should take towards this? I have heard that in some FWD cars u need to take the engine out to get to the gear box/clutch I'm hoping in this case that I can just take every thing out that’s in the way and slide the gear box off the engine.

Hey guys, i bought a second hand hilux and the auto in it was running smoothely up untill recently where it is a slow poke at gear timing and it rolls back on hills that are like nothing for it before? and when i go from drive to r or vice versa.. it bashes really hard. any suggestions

Hi guys I've had a problem where you can smell exhaust in the cabin of my KE70 thats been there for years and very subtle but getting progressively worse. Without stripping down the whole thing and looking for a hole, does anyone know of a common place for a hole or something to occur on a KE70 that makes this happen. It was happening before and after an exhaust upgrade and engine swap so stuffs me if there's an issue with the exhaust somewhere between engine and exhaust tip, its just strange. cheers, and congrats for the KE20 that won the vote, its truly awesome. Hi i've got a pair of ae86 complete struts to go in my ke70, the guy that sold them to me told me i needed ae86 knuckles to use them in a ke70, but someone else told me that ae86 knuckles are the same as ke70 ones, can anyone help me identify what parts (if any) i need ;) thanks

Hi, i have been looking into doing a cam shaft replacement on my standard 4k but have very limited engine knowledge. Would anyone have a guide or a walkthrough on replacing a cam in a 4k and would anyone be able to tell me what i need to buy before i even start removing the origional one. ( i am going up to a mild grinded cam ) thanks

Hey all I'm new here and was just some more info. Did the AE92/AE93 sedans ever come out with the 4age motor? And if any one has a mid 80's corona what sort of fuel economy are you getting? The reason for there questions is that I'm looking a getting 1 of these and I have had a corona before but I was only getting 400kms out of the 61L tank ( It was worse then my 351 falcon). have no idea what it is to be honest? came on today, then went away for a while. driving home it was on the whole way. car didn't feel any different though? the lights is like (O) BRAKE and is just above the handbrake light. this on a ke70 wagon by the way. any help? also mods, if this is in the wrong forum, please move it haha :happy:

Hey all, my car (89 csx seca, 4afc engine, c50 box) has no first or second gear, 3rd and 4th work fine and reverse is fine. because 3rd and 4th work fine, this eliminates to clutch as a suspect right? what things should i check to determine and fix the problem? ive got a max ellery manual, but they arent the greatest espescially when knowledge is already limited. thanks in advance. :jamie: Hi need some advice, If I was to leave the 3k motor in the ke 36 1977 wagon, will I be able to remove the manual gearbox and replace with an automatic box out of a 4k ke 55 without any modifications, in other words will it bolt straight on and work. In regards to the interior, around the auto lever, the plastic cosmetics, will they bolt straight on. Thank you

g'day all, been after a ke10 for a while for a project. Had a guy send me a message saying he has a 'ke10' but side on it looks different.. its still sedan style but the boot looks longer and a slightly different angle.. what I'm wondering is.. can anyone tell me what is the differences between ke10 and ke11 body wise? i know with celica's the last number partially dictates engine.. ie ra65 iss 22re where as ra63 is 18rg cheers in advance.. here is the photo also..

Hey all just curious I'm looking at putting a 3sge into my ta22 and adding a turbo my q is has anyone used a 3sge with a large turbo, i know lag will be an issue but will the 3sge still have reasonable pick up till the turbo spools up or should i just get a turbo that spools up straight away, I'm looking around the 225 - 200rwkw mark so if i have a turbo that only spools up later it will be a bit better to handle with every day conditions right?. and i don't want to be running crazy amounts of boost too as it will be a daily. any ideas, suggestions etc will be awesome matt

I'm trying to set the timing properly on my 4K (not hi cam, KE70 though.) I have had issues with it backfiring into the carby and a lack of power at low RPM. I haven't done it before but I roughly understand the process. Timing light on cylinder 1 (front cyl,) timing should be around 8 deg as indicated with vacuum advance line disconnected from distributor. When I first connected the timing light, it indicated at least 30 degrees!? I loosened the distributor but as I adjust it back towards 8 degrees, the engine starts to hesitate and eventually stalls. Even back near 20 deg, the engine will idle but hesitate badly as I try to free rev it. I have tried adjusting id…

Hey guys. I'm having a real nightmare atm with my e12 corolla. Basically I've been told my backbox is on its way out so I went down the scrappies and pulled a universal fit one off a Corsa for £25. :) :) :D However, I've been trying to get a garage to fit it for me and I'm not having very much luck at all. :( I've been told by a very friendly mechanic that the "mounts" are different and they need modifying. Accelerator pump jets dripping during closed throttle/ idle. Whats the most likely cause? The check balls in the circuit look ok. Could it be the accelerator pump intake/discharge valve? Though they seem to be ok (can only blow through one way). Just wanted to check before I order new ones. Any help appreciated.

Hi guys i have just purchased a a quad headlight front for my ke70 wagon but it did not come with the panel between the windscreen and the bonnet, and the front valence :D seeing mine is a slant front i am wondering if i was to buy a standard flat front windscreen panel and front valence. would they would fit? hi everyone, i have been building a 4age combo that has a t50 behind it. there a two things left for me to buy. one is a starter motor, does it have to be a ae86 one to fit under the stock headers? we have tryed playing around with a few we had lieing around but it hit on the headers. second item is a salve cylinder i no i can use a ae71, but i noticed at the wreckers that one from a ae82 looks like a close fit? so i wondering if an other salve cylinder of an other rolla would work? as i havent seen to many ae71s lieing around? thanks for the help.

Hey everyone, recently I installed AE86 front coilovers in my KE70. They are the threaded sleeve weld on type and there's something funny going on with them. Now I didn't make them but I've been told they have a Pedders R31 Sports insert in them and the casings have been shortened an unknown amount, although I measured them and they are ~400mm on the outside from top to bottom. The problem is that they have movement in the shaft and this can be felt as a clonk when you go over a bump, and the shaft can be seen moving from side to side when you jack the car up and push and pull on the strut casing. Yet the shocks work fine and don't appear to be leaking, initially I though…
