Hey all I am competing in the Supersprint at Mt Panorama on the 1st of december and i wont have my 4age rebuilt in time, so i will be running standard 4ac. So i was wondering can you remove any emissions gear for extra power, and also what can you do to the 4ac to get some cheap power. I'm doing the usual stuff like, service, new plugs/leads and octane booster in the fuel, weight reduction and also removal of dodgy power draining heater gear. But what else can go so i can get more power out of the unopened engine. people are saying carbs and extractors but with the 4age going in soon its really pointless to me. The car is not registered and never will be so any gea…

hey, from time to time I'm getting extreamly poor fuel economy and a very bad idle, not just a rough idle like it normally does but a surging kind. also when i go to stop and there is no throttle on it will just miss idling and stall. it isnt always like this and I'm thinking that the problem maybe the needle and seat sticking on..?? other peoples thought on this..? my old man had a simerlar problem with his old thunderbox.. i took the top of the fuel bowl off and the level was aprox half way (without the float obviously) i sprayed some carb cleaner down the throttle to cause is had a lot of sludge.. i have also disconnected the secondary and zipp…

hi guys, just bought a KE55 coupe the other week and its starting to have some engine problems. The engine is a 4K-C with a Fiat Webber on it and everything else standard. It has some trouble starting up, especially when cold. On my way to work this morning it had a distinct lack of power. as in, it struggled to get past 60kph in third. It free revs fine, but under load it coughs and splutters, sounds like its misfiring. some times it runs ok. but this only lasts for about 20 seconds, then it goes back to the coughing. It was running fine just a few days ago, but has started doing this more and more lately. any help would be appreciated guys, Thanks, M…

hey guys, been tempted to buy sum repro teardrop gt mirrors from an XY to replace the standard mirrors on the wagon. iv seen them alot on mazdas etc but not sure how they would fit up. I'm guessing you would need to make new bolt holes in the doors to suit? has anyone fitted these before to any Ke's? thanks. for anyone that doesn't know, they look like this. this is fitted to a cortina.

I'm not quite sure which topic its suppose to go under.. I was driving my KE30 in the rain and i hit the gutter at approx 50kms this pushed the engine and gearbox over also pushing my wheel in. the frame for it has been bent and i was wondering how much this would cost me. Also i need new shock and who knows what else havent had a proper look at it. the fans hits whewn the engine is started too. anyone have a rough idea how much a KE30 corolla frame from the wreckers would cost me? Or anyone have any other ideas?

I'm trying to suss out a brake setup for the ke25 and would be grateful if someone could try their ke70 boosterless (ie pull off hose for a min) and drive around on some open deserted road or open carpark braking a couple of times under different speeds - in an open area with no cars or walls of course. if it really is hard pressing on the pedal and the brakes hardly work then I'm probably going to have to get a remote booster which isnt going to be too much fun. however if its only a bit more force on the pedal and the brakes pull up the same then i should be okay.

Hi all. Firstly, my missus has been complaining that the brake pedal on her 71 sometimes goes almost to the floor then the next time its nice and firm, any ideas?. Secondly, the auto in this thing nearly takes your head off when it changes into second gear. Is this normal? it would be ok if it was worked but it is dead stock. :) Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hey all, a few of my gauges on my dash arent working correctly and i wanna know, is it my dash thats screwed up or dodgey wiring! my fuel gauge is like never working and usually always sits on empty which is really annoying as i dunno when to fill up! and my temp gauge usually sits at the correct temp but every now and then it will jump to over half when i hit 2.5k revs, then when i drop below that it goes back to normal! do i get a new dash as the board on it is f*cked, or do i trace the wiring back! i don't really know where i should be looking for the temp and fuel gauge wiring! as in when it gets to the engine bay help is much appreciated

Hey My KE25 project has come to a halt today. The engine I got out of an early 72 KE20. I chucked the engine in my KE25 today to find out that it does not fit the KE25 4speed. The bolt spaces are different and don't line up at all. I still have the KE20 gearbox. Would that be the soloution? Would I need to change anything else? eg tailshaft? Link to my thread: http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?showtopic=14164 Cheers Tally

I am after a diff for my 4AGZE KE70. I am using a T-50 gearbox,Standard Rolling Diameter wheels and a speedo (637RPM=1KM). What Diff ratio Is needed to keep my speedo true ????? I originally bought a R31 Pintara Diff and have shortened one side.(4.1:1) A few people I have spoken to have told me that they are not the strongest of diffs. I would prefer to use a Toyota Banjo style diff. From what I have read/Been told....I can use a T series diff. The trouble is getting your hands on a sprinter diff :) Can I use a T series from a RA60 Celica? Will it be to wide for my Rolla? Can Anyone give me data on the Track and Ratios of Toyota Diffs Used In Austral…

Hi all, I am new to this site and love the knowledge that is on it. I have found it however a little hard to source information via the search feature, being a new member. I have an idea on a section that could be added to this site, A 'Tech write up section' where experienced members can submit a write up on a conversion or modification, for example brake upgrades for a KE20, or 4age in ke30. The would be an like an online e-book where people couldn't post replies and to post an 'article' it would have to be submitted to a mod, where it could be briefly looked over for correctness and stuff. This way all the 'common' questions that are asked everyday can…

Hey guys we have done a manual ae71 pedal box into a auto ke70 and i have now found that the steering column bolts do not line up with the holes any more. Is this a common problem or not. If so how do you fix it. I have noticed that there is a spline on the steering column in the engine bay and maybe that can be brought out a little to make it fit but thought i should ask before i did this. Can post pics if you are unsure of what i am saying. Cheers guys.

well, people always say you can put 1ggte pistons and rods into a 4k going off the measurements etc, so i thought to prove it true or false, having the majority of the ingredients. not a perfect experiement, but close enough. you will need 1ggte or gze or ge rods, so long as they are not gen 3 1ggte rods you will be fine, as these have a bigger big end. the ones i had had .25 oversize bearings, so they were a little tight on the crank, but for my purpose all was well. i also had no bearings on the crank, don't know what id done with them, bin I'm guessing. but it was bolted in, so again, close enough :lolcry: i took the rings off the piston for ease of use. and…
