ok this is not my own work, but i think that it will be a good help to explain whats goin on in those pipes. There is too much misinformation regarding exhaust theory. What kind of misinformation? For starters, there are a lot of people in the "Bigger is Better" camp. We're talking about exhaust pipe diameters. Even the big magazine editors are boldly smattering statements like, "For a turbo car, you can't get an exhaust pipe that's too big." Also, terms like "back pressure" and the statement, "An engine needs back pressure to run properly!" really can be mis-leading. Let's start from the beginning. What is an exhaust system? Silly question? Not hardly. Exhaust s…

hey guys, i have hooked up my 2" straight threw with one muffler, but I'm looking to upgrade to 2.5" i want it to sound nice and deep and not really raspy like little engine with big exhausts, should i go for a resonator and cannon style thing or a box muffler or something different, i want to achieve a deep note like what you might hear on some skylines and ditch the poo sounding t motor noise buy the way tis is on a turbo 2t motor

Hey guys, Okay before you just shut this down and giggle to yourself, My girlfriend has a Vt acclaim and I'm really keen on fitting the electric seat's to the rolla. I know how bizarre it seem's but I was wondering if anyone know's the rule's and regulation's for these. I have heard that as long as the original rail's fit with no adjustment's then an engineer's certificate isn't needed. Could anyone confirm this please? With this in mind, I would also at the same time like to re-upholster the material on these seat's to suit the interior of my car. I need a very talented upholsterer for this and any help would be muchly apprecia…

just wondering when people convert from 4agze to 4agte 1.does the computer run the engine well (such as fuel & timing)??? 2.whats your experiances??? 3.i have a tunned aftermarket ecu for a 4agze would it start and drive well enough before a full tune on a 4agte??? any1 done this or turboed a 4agze and took chargwer off as I'm intersted how your car went as its a common modification i would love to know how your cars went cause I'm guessing the vacume, time to hit boost, timing and fuel would differ from supercharged to turbo thank you

OK Folks, I am building up a 4AC to go in my KE70, Eventually this will become a Rally Car, yes I know its not a 4AGE. (don't get started om this one, the categories I am planning to run do not allow it) So I have managed to get myself some 40mm Dellorto DHLA Sidedraughts to go on the 4AC, I know HKS used to make a set of intake manifolds to suit webber/dellorto carbs. So my question is, does anyone know how to get them, have made a set etc, can lend my diagrams to making my own etc, I have a good engineer helping on this one, however if anyone can lend their advice to me is appreciated and also easier. Also since we are on the same side of the engine, I need extr…

I've been told that i need to use some sort of heat gun? WTF? Any help would be greatly appreciated! cheers phatke30!

I had 30 thou shaved off my 4k head to raise compression. So i put it all back together today but now there is a really loud tapping that sounds like its coming from the top end its, not valve clearance or the rocker gear because i adjusted the clearances until they almost had no gap at all but it wouldn't go away so i put another rocker gear in and still the same I'm thinking maybe because of the head sitting lower the push rods are on a different angle that makes them noisy but I'm not sure what do you think?

It appears that there is f@$k all decent 'sporty' shocks available for the KE70 struts. With most companies offering OEM replacements or nothing. So for those that haven't changed over to sprinter/corona/T18 struts. What shocks have you put in the front of your KE70? So far I've only found these companies to supply shocks to suit: Gabriel Monroe ACDelco Pedders Currently thinking either of the first three and f@$k pedders off.

hey i just lurked the first 10 pages of tech forums and couldnt find what i wanna know so here goes... firstly, I'm gonna put coilovers in the ae71, I'm thinking s13, with s13 brakes...as I'm a nissan boy :( what is involved, IE: control arms changes and what not?? and is it au falcon springs with now shorter shockers for the rear? second, the diff, will be welded i guess, needs to be disc break rear and keep same stud pattern. what should i use, T-series diff?? if so what has to be changed to put it in?? also will the falcon springs still work with that diff?? will neede to be able to support ca18det amount of power also any help will be awesome thanks…

I have recently purchased a 1974 ke20 and am looking to change the stud pattern... I am not knowledgeable about diffs, brakes and axels but hopely you guys can clear a few things up... Q.1 - If i were to get ke70 axels and brakes, will they slot straight into my existing diff? Q.2 - (don't judge me) - but rear ke70 axels are discs right? Q.3 - Spacers - I know they give you wider tyres but do/can they change your stud pattern (4x100 pcd to 4x114.3 pcd) ? Q.4 - Can i change the whole rear end (diff, axle and brakes) from a ke70 into a ke20 with no dramas? I would appreciate all help and knowledge, Thankyou Will

Ok last 2 nights same thing has happened. last night i drove my car around abit in the day, went to a mates at night, stayed there for a few hours and went to leave at about 2am my car woudlnt start, so i first checked if i was getting spark (by getting the dizzy end of the main lead and holding it close to the body of the car while turning the car over, it was only sparking about once a second, when it should have been doing about 4 a second i got a lift home and went back today at around midday with another coil and a few different leads, tried different lead and coil combinations and still the same thing, then after doing this for a while got my mate to call the…

I just aquired a 4K engine which is currently running a bit rough so i thought i would pull out the spark plugs for a look see When i unscrewed the plug, the sleeve/surround came out with it Is this normal? If not does it need to be fixed? How? And also, i want to get a good set of plugs to suit the engine specs as far as i know it has standard internals except for the cam, twin dellortos & extractors Any reccomendations for plugs would be appretiated Cheers - Andrew

didnt get to bed lastnight until about 4am just doing the usual chilling as uni holidays are on. and this morning i get a knock on the door and someone has hit my car. i originally thought it was a joke as i have heard it before as my paddock basher ke70 doesnt have the best of good looks. and i went outside and it was actual hit and the lady that hit it was just standing there giving me her details. she was in new pajero. so theres some free cash for me :) ive been looking for an excuse to buy a new car. its bit of a fairy tap.

Hi all just finished converting my 5k motor from twin down draught webers to twin 40dcoe webers on my ke20. Just want to know what most people do for air filter setup, due to lack of room. I have bought a pair of filter socks in the smallest size but they seem to be to long, i am thinking about cuttting them in half to fit without being squashed up. also what do people do to support the webers and manifold because of the weight of the carbies. All comments and pics would help. :hmm: Here are a couple of pics of my weber setup.
