Hi all, My KE70 wagon was broken into last week. They smashed the front passenger side window. Does anyone happen to know if an 8 Corona window is the same size? The dimensions seem very similar and I have acces to a dead corona but I don't want to go to the trouble of pulling the window out if it's not gonna fit in the rolla. thanks guys matt

  4. hey guys ive just recently installed a jdm tank into my sprinter however it appears now that the car wont start up? Ive checked: 1) All lines and that they are connected correctly 2) Prime the fuel line of any air 3) check pump if it is actually even working (which it is). 4) Spark plug wise the car did not have any issues with it before i installed the jdm tank So what could it be? Can you please help me find the root of the problem. Muchly appreciated, Dave

  5. Started by Oyabun,

So I am doing a manual swap into my Ae82 4ALC, I pulled a transmission from an 87 FX16 GTS. I read somewhere they came with a c52, however mine doesnt appear to be a C52 from the pictures I have seen. It only has one "Ear" but looks almost identical to the c52 otherwise. Basically I need to know which CV axles to buy.. Does anyone have an idea of which transmission I may have, or what axles I need? I pulled numbers off the trans case: 61106943 And off the plate on the trans: 1NXAE89G0, followed by 1Z412164 Does anyone know how to decode this business? Thanks for any help in advance.

  8. Hi all. My awesome little rolla is having trouble again... :( Car: 1993 Toyota Corolla CSI Limited Hatch -- 4-AFE EFI engine. So today, we were driving along the Great Western when my car started making a "clicky" noise and smelling really weird, then started losing power. About 5km up, we made a turn off the highway and my car completely died, and there was smoke coming from the engine. Also when we opened the bonnet there was oil all over the engine, and there was no oil in my car anymore when yesterday it was full. There is no discernable leak whatsoever. We've put oil in it, and eventually it started and we got it home (took about 15 tries), and now it…

  11. Started by rollaguy,

Hey all I'm new here and was just some more info. Did the AE92/AE93 sedans ever come out with the 4age motor? And if any one has a mid 80's corona what sort of fuel economy are you getting? The reason for there questions is that I'm looking a getting 1 of these and I have had a corona before but I was only getting 400kms out of the 61L tank ( It was worse then my 351 falcon). Thanks Shaun

So i friggin love my corolla, which i've named freedom. Its an all stock(at the moment) 1991 Seca Csi limited with the 4A-F engine(thats the carbureted one right?). I recently lost my job and so i have a lot of time on my hands, so i've been spending a lot of time on the car. I don't have a great deal of coin, so all i've done is replace the spark plugs, brake pads, leads, filters etc but now i want to start adding on rather than maintaining. I'm a bit a noob with cars but with all the problems my corolla had, i've started learning. My questions are: What does Csi limited mean? What about it is limited? just curious.... Do more expensive spark plugs help? I just g…

  14. Hey guys! Some know about my plan to graft a 2T-G into a Ke-35 Coupe ... I have been looking for carbies and manifold to suit. I have discovered a neat little twin carb manifold and twin carbies (they look like side draught with a sliding sleeve device?) off a toyota Corsa. It would seem to be from a 3E motor. I have not been able to glean any more info than that, except that they came off a 1500cc or 1800cc SOHC motor from a jdm corsa. I am wondering if; A) The whole manifold will fit B ) If not A then will the carbies function for my application? Re-Jetting and other standard-type mods are acceptable. Thanks for your, most precious, time!

Hey there every one, I have what I believe to be a problem with either my diff or my rear wheel bearings and I am asking your help in diagnosing just what is wrong. First up the small amount of technical information I know about the diff. She is currently in my Ke35 and was placed there (not by me) about a year ago. She is the Japanese style diff not the Borg Warner, i don't know from what she was transplanted and finally she is making a whirring sound. I have been told that if it where a pinion bearing or any other sort bearing within the diff the whirring would stop if i placed my foot on the clutch whilst the car is moving. (Is this correct?). The results o…

  17. I was starting a big cleanup of the many photos scattered around my computer and found this... Now, when the next person strips a gearbox or does a clutch, please take lots of photos (on a real camera, not a blasted useless phone!!) and put up some "How-to" topics... How-to replace the input shaft bearing, How-to change a clutch, How-to replace synchros... If we build up a library of these it will stop a lot of new guys having to ask the whole deal every time. After a few years we should be better than Toyotas workshop manuals! This is Taz's 0.1% !! Sorry man- I did laugh when I saw it.

I have noticed when i accelerate that there is a flat spot but only on initial acceleration (low revs). i also seem to be going through a tank of fuel like it is going out of style and the exhaust smells very ritch. i have been told that the flat spot may be being caused by an air leak some where. Any ideas of where or any other reasons i might be encountering a 'flat spot'?? i have tried to adjust my carbie to try and decreese my fuel consumption and to try and minimise the exhaust smell but to no avil…

  27. Hi, I have looked around the web & checked your site. I am looking for Adjustable Air shocks (rear) for a Corona 1985 CS st141 Wagon, I want to be able to go places most 2 wheel drivers wouldn't go. The car has a set on it already ( 20 years old, fronts were too, new hydrolic now ) These are Armstrong Air Jackers, they are a small diametre air shock that was seemingly stopped being manufactured about 5 years ago... :bash: Anyone got any idea's, if it wasn't for the narrow 'tunnel' (if that's the correct term.) at the top, I wouldn't have the problem... These need to be replaced, the body roll with one leaky shock is terrible. :P Dancing you don't want to be, …

I've been looking through the Noltec catalogue as I'm looking into purchasing some adjustable camber/castor strut tops for my KE55. I have also been getting quotes from various locations, and have established that AE86 strut tops can be bought cheaper. I was under the impression that AE86 items would fit, but the Noltec catalogue disagrees with me. According to Noltec, their N44025 strut top will fit the following models: COROLLA KE20,KE25,KE26,TE25 ‘70-78 COROLLA KE30,KE35,KE36,KE38,KE50,KE55 ‘75-81 COROLLA KE70,KE71,AE70,AE71 ‘81-85 Whereas the AE86 uses part number N44026. I thought that if the part fitted an AE86, it would also fit an AE71. What w…

I'm mucking around with the Selby's adjustable swaybar that I have at the moment, and am trying to figure out which way gets stiffer and which way gets softer... On a normal swaybar, it's simple, the front bushes merely locate the bar (pivot) and the end bits torque the bar, so the further away the ends are from the pivot, the "softer" the bar is... The bar I have attaches to the radius rods. So one set of bushes near the ends, snd one set of bushes near the pivot. Does the same theory apply? That the closer together I put the bushes then the stiffer the bar will be? Or is it the opposite? Does it matter how near the ends I put the bushes?

ok so even with the cables wound right up, the handbrake doesnt really work at all and the levers come out way to far on the calipers, (they are not drum and shoe handbrake), just wondering if anyone knows how these are adjusted at the caliper, had a look and there is no plug like normal caliper handbrakes that you remove and adjust a bolt inside.

In my continuing bid to circumvent the AE series diagonal braking and aid in the installation of a Hydraulic handbrake, I've been investigating twin master cylinder pedal boxes with a balance bar. The fabrication shouldn't be a problem and it looks like you can get pre-fabbed balance bars off e-bay for reasonable dollars, so it's all down to pedal lengths, pivot points and actual master cylinder sizes. The standard bore on an AE92 m/cyl is 15/16" (23.8mm) and consulting the TRD bible on AE's, they claim to be using a 7/8" (22.2mm) for the front and a 13/16" (20.6mm) for the rear. And this is some of what isn't making sense to me at the moment. The Grp A Corolla's were u…
