sorry guys i know it's not a corolla but it's still a toyota haha! the car is a 2.4 EFI corona, just wondering about idea's for custom home-made intakes some of you blokes have done or seen. Looking at building one my self as i find doing crafty stuff like that fun. i'm basically asking about what's been used, what size piping, how it was routed, gain or loss of power etc (yeah i know it's an intake and i won't gain 100 hp but it's just a little extra). if i go too big of an intake will i need to retune my motor to put more fuel in to cope with the extra air coming in? sorry about all the questions google just hates me! i've included 2 photo's to show my current sto…

I've done some research on the internet but would just like some clarification. My car has 310,000 km's i've read that the thicker the oil the better it is to make up for "play" in worn parts in the motor. I've read of people 10w30 but i've also rad about full synthetic 5w30 being better, what would you blokes recomend?

Anyone know what the offset is for these? I'm looking into getting widened steelies made up, but can only go 25mm either way of the original offset and get 7inch wide MAX (unless someone knows where I could find bigger bands?) so I'm trying to do the maths. Cheers!

Hey RC, I'm about to make an exhaust for my KE70, but I'm getting conflicting information about which way the resonator faces. The inside of my resonator has little louvres facing in one direction like so: And the other direction looks like this: I've read through a fair few threads where people say the louvres need to faces the engine so that they can trap exhaust flow and remove some of the sound, and others say that this will cause the packing inside the resonator to "burn out" and will restrict a significant amount of flow, and that the louvres need to face away from the engine. So which way is the resonator meant to be installed? Or is it up…

I was going to add this to the wiki but ERMA-GERD I got a head ache trying to get it down so maybe another L3370 8URR170 could get it down there. I've been misled for some time due to lack info in regards to coils so would like to pass some information on. The majority of stock 3k/4k units are either Bosch or Nippon-Denso oil filled coils designed for use with a ballast resistor. The ballast resistor is in place to limit the ignition voltage flowing through the coil prolonging the life of the breaker points and leads for that standard and original application, effectively culling 12 volts down to 9 volts. Without going into great detail this is how a replaceme…

Hi! For 2 years ago I installed a ta62 brake booster and master cylinder into my ke35. Huge difference! Now I have also installed front calipers from the same ta62 into my ke35. Tried bleeding it about ten times but everytime I started the engine the pedal sank to the floor. I tried yesterday reinstall the old ke35 stock calipers and that made it a alot better! So what's wrong? Are the ta62's calipers harder to evacuate the air from or do they fail remaining pressure somehow?at least I can't see any leaks from them...

Hey guys just recently brought my 1987 Ka67 AUTOMATIC Toyota Carina for a steal. Its running a 5k 3 speed automatic box and was curious to see if a k50 manual would bolt up to it? If so, what pedal box can i use to operate the clutch which was never there? I know its not a corolla, but i thought I'd give it a shot, sick of the crummy auto box already! Cheers!

Hi all, Straight cut or dog gears whatever you want to call them, in a T50, has anyone ever heard of such a kit for the T50, I have had a bit of a look over the net and dragged up f*@$k all so my next step was here, I thought if anyone has done it or found anything like this it would be here. I’m interested in seeing if it has be done and if its worth it or if it’s just as easy to run a W5X of some kind, or has anyone had any kind of gear work done to the T50 to strengthen it? Let me know I’m very interested in finding out what you all have done as I think the T50 is a fantastic little gearbox with allot of potential and allot of people under rate it over the big…

Hey all, I have been doing a bit of research on E85, I’m sure all of you know what E85 is if not here you go , I’m very interested in finding out some feedback if anyone has had it running in their car, more so the 16v and 20v people and the turbo/supercharged peeps, I’m not expecting too many replies as there is allot of work involved to get it running in your car because of its corrosive nature. Now with E85 becoming more readily available on the pump has anyone noticed it at the bowser yet?

So I've got a blown head gasket. I've heard there are some additives which can repair a blown head gasket without taking off the head. Anyone used or can recommend any of these additives? I'de rather try a cheap fix before spending big money on repairing it.

I like to introduce myself. My name is Warren and the handle name is sprucedup. I was given a 1987 Toyota corolla sedan with AE82 engine. With a larger bore from 1.6 litre and now runs maybe as a 2.6 litre. I have a Weber DGV32/36 a number of issues have arisen. Had professionals tune it but it was waste of money. Now I don't know how to explain this but I will do the best I can. On top where the choke holes are,I don't know the name of them, they replaced these jets from 145 to 170 Primary and the secondary 140 to 180 now the ones in the bowl, whatever you call them to, 127 to 135 Primary and 132 to 135 Secondary. The power and running isn't right especially if you going u…

Ok, ive done alot of tie-rods and ball joints in my time, and wether its the first one, or the last one i do,i always get a stubborn one, i wanna hear your options or opinions on how you go getting that one annoying taper free i've used tie-rod/ball joint fork separators, the fork setup with the wind in thread, hammer on one end of tierod/ball joint - wind the nut out until i hit the nut instead of the thread, drive a chisel or wedge between the taper and the fixed part its stuck on weight or long bar putting weight or strain on the arm to give it something to help loosen it heat on the area to free it yet I'm still getting times where I'm stuck. Ive broken…

Ok so dad drove the ke70 to work on monday. As soon as he got it home it stalled itself when idleing. After starting it back up again it idled for a few seconds, then the revs dropped and it almost stalled but then they rise to the normal idle again and it keeps suddenly dropping revs untill it finally stalls itself. I thought there must be some dirt or grit in the idle jet. It was fine in the higher revs and there were no problems when you drive it but as soon as you stop at traffic lights your constantly revving it so it wont stall. I took the carb off yesterday, cleaned it inside and out and cleaned the primary and secondary idle jet. I also took the top off …

Hey guys, I just fitted a fixed back seat into my car and now I find the wheel is all up in my face, not just that but I can't reach the indicator stalk with a standard boss kit. Wondering if anyone knows where I can find the shortest possible boss kit to fit a ke70 or if anyone else has had this problem and how they dealt with it? I was thinking if I can't find one short enough, might just cut a section out of my current boss kit and weld it back together... anyone done this before?

guys, I'd love some advice before i buy the wrong HD clutch kit. i have read all the guides i can on here, and they all seem to say that a 5k clutch is 200mm in diameter, and 4k is 180mm. now, i measured up mine and its 180 mm diameter, and its def. a 5k engine. so, i assume previous owner/s has put 3,4k clutch on it, and i get the 200 mm clutch kit regardless? or do i order the 180mm? any help appreciated
