Hey all, I recently got a 4AC in my KE70.. and the second cylinder from the front keeps stopping after driving it for about 2 hours.. if u take the spark plug out ( its black as ) clean it up.. put it back.. runs on 4 again and runs normal.. and also.. in my other rolla i have a locker.. and ive got one in this also.. and my other one made this real grinding noise.. it sounded like it was coming from the diff but someone said it could be the wheel bearings.. but anyhow i was messing around today and i was in the middle of no where... then it started to make the same noise as my other one.. but alot louder and its only in 3rd and 4th that u can hear it, were as in my othe…

hey guys just wondering how i would go about popping twin carbs onto a 5k motor? my dad is going to give me two sidedraught weber 40s from his alfa as he is upgrading to 45s, but would this be overkill for a 5k? the 5k i hope to run will be modded with a mild/wild cam, 4age pistons + decked block and high compession head, along with extractors. i know I would have to make/source a new inlet manifold but will she still fit with the engine slanted or do i have to straighten her up? cheers everyone in advance! I'm trying to suss out a brake setup for the ke25 and would be grateful if someone could try their ke70 boosterless (ie pull off hose for a min) and drive around on some open deserted road or open carpark braking a couple of times under different speeds - in an open area with no cars or walls of course. if it really is hard pressing on the pedal and the brakes hardly work then I'm probably going to have to get a remote booster which isnt going to be too much fun. however if its only a bit more force on the pedal and the brakes pull up the same then i should be okay.

morning fellas i have just sold one of my 3t's and it gives me some money to play with building another 3t. I'm after some pointers at it is going to be a fairly budget build, nothing dodgy just clean and cheap. the motor will have to handel around 12psi of boost at the max the idea will be just rings bearings and gaskets, a new cam will be ground while its apart and i need some help choosing that as i know nothing about choosing a turbo cam, the engine will be build for a daily driver, drifter and most likely some drags. some of the bolt on things will be a ct20 on a 3tgte manifold and a 32/36 weber jetted to suit a turbo application(brad sheriff of boost a…

Folks, I have a set of pistons that have been touched with with the die grinder in order to decompress a little. In order to work out my CR, I need to know the volume of the stock piston dish Does anyone have one handy they could measure, or even if you just know what it is! While i'm asking, what is the stock comp on a 5k. cheers tp (this is where the old "mate, theres 17 different piston types for 5ks" comes up....)

Hey All Today dad and i descided to move the cars around, to make some more space - we had to move my blue corolla ke70, its been started up now and then, and was moved about 2 M a week or so ago. When it was moved today, it had be driven back and fowards many times to make sure it was positioned corectly - during that time (i had warmed the motor up for 3 mins b4 it was moved) i notused blue smoke was comein out, it wasnt excatly what u call bad, but it was notusiable. WHen i got the car i didnt notus any blue smoke, the service records for the last 2 years don't say anthing about it, and the previous owner looked after it like it was her child. So I'm assuming i…

had a few hassles getting my son to school this morning. driving along and the car starts spitting and farting like it was running out of juice. the fuel guage was low, so i assumed it had run out of fuel. the car stopped, so we went for fuel. get back, put a tin of fuel in and the car starts first pop. weird, it should have taken longer for the fuel to pump through. anyway it is still doing the same thing. i work out if i give it full throttle and slip the clutch i can still get places. anything below full throttle and it would just die. after i got home i started the car and sprayed carby cleaner around the base gasket, the engine instantly stopped. ah, major v…

Excuse the crude 'painted' diagram, but heres my current vacuum setup on my 3e-te powered corsa. This is how I bought the car and I dunno if it's right. Can anyone confirm or explain the correct setup? At the moment the vaccuum is coming from the plenum via a large vacuum hose into a screw in/out adjustable diaphram that also screws into the side of the plenum. From there, the lower smaller hose from the dipahram splits from a 't' piece to a round looking sensor thing ( it has a single electrical wire leading away from it) and also to the upper vacuum point on the vacuum sensor on the far left of the engine bay. The lower vacuum point from the sensor on the left hand …

How hard is this to make? Is there any rocket science to it? It's just a big metal ring with 2 tabs welded to it to bolt to the floorpan right? How big should the loop be? I believe Jamie has one? Where did you get it from?

For that matter, are there any aftermarket racing parts for this car? Re there common swaps for this car........I had visions of a 2jz in there....... Also, are there replacement body panels etc. for this car? It's a Canadian car and has seen some winters. Any help would be appreciated.

What was the difference in width between a TE27 and a KE20. I have bee offered a diff that i'm told is either from a TE27 or about a 74 Celica. I'm assuming from a GT. It has factory disc brakes. I'm trying to work out if it is worth putting in if I went to a 4age. I assume that if it is a TE27 one that it should bolt stright in, but a Celica one would need to be shortened (and mounts changed???) Ian.

Does anyone know anything about this? Cost, description, features etc? I remember waaay back a long time ago in Malaysia my uncle's Datsun 120Y had a little box under the dash for aircond, it had a fan and everything built in, very neat and just had 2 switches and a knob on it. Worked reasonably well too, I'm not sure how much plumbing etc it had. Also, do they have a heater function too? Or do they only work as an aircond?

I've heard that the intake manifold on the 4AGZE is absolutely crap (very restrictive), and that improving it helps unleash extra horsepower. Does anyone here have any experience with this? I was thinking along the lines of using a 20v head, thereby making my engine a 4AGZE 20v (as I believe has been done before), using the 20 valve motor's quad throttle bodies, and just having a plenum chamber manufactured to keep the boost in. Obviously, this will require some computer trickery to make sure everything works together properly, but I would think that it'd make some good power. It'd also make it better for future upgrades, as this is a race-only car, so it can be a …

i thought i'd start this because there are some differences in 5k & 4k blocks. the 5k has 2, the weak one has a welsh plug under the water pump and welsh plugs down the camshaft side of the block. only ever seen one. 4k's, there were 500 made that had no strenghtening around the welsh plugs on the maniflod side. i've struck 2 of these blocks in 15 years and both cracked through the plugs, one was in our rally car in NZ and the other was when i worked for an engine reconditioner here in brisbane, i told them about the problem, but they went ahead and reco'ed the engine, 2 weeks later back it came, you guessed it, cracked though the welsh plugs. anyone e…
