Guys, I need help. The engine mounts on my KE55 are absolutely rooted. I checked with the bloke that built the car and he claimed the engine mounts were standard KE55 items, however, when I bought a set and compared them with what was left of what's in there, they were COMPLETELY different. What have you guys used in your 4AGE/4AGZE conversions. I presume that whatever is used in KE30's with this conversion will work for KE55's as well?

I don't know a whole lot about the 1K head and I've been offered a fairly worked one by a workmate. Yet to actually see it so I can't say about whats been done to it. I'm pretty sure they fit onto 5K blocks? If so would there be a gain from this or just a waste of time... or actually kill power? Either way I'll be making some form of meaty K-motor over my holidays coming up, just tossing around some ideas until then. Cheers.

OK so my car idles below 1grand (usually idles at 1grand) and putts along for like 10 seconds then a burst of normal idleing happens for a split second, then it idles bad again. Idles even worse after accelerating, stopped dead a few times and I ended up having to run with the choke out slightly. Putting along at walking speed when I parked it was doing small bursts of power too. Any suggestions? :n:

I have just started to build my self a ke30, so far have lowered it,17 1nch mags, new panel and paint and prelude seats. That went all good but I'm not to clude up when it comes to the engine side of things. I only no what I have read, with no real knowledge of engines. I have got myself a 5k engine that has has the head shaved, ported and polished, 2t vales with hardened valve springs, a street ground cam (half race cam), lightly balanced crank.pistons and rod, and a set of 2t twin carbs to start things rollin. I keep reading about people changing the lifters to solid ones, so my question is with what I have done do I have to change the lifters or will I get away with wha…

hey guys. my ke70 is making a funny noise. it happeneds wen i go over bumpy road or like if the back bounces around a bit. its a squeeking noise, and i can tell it has to do with the suspension. its coming from the rear behind me wen i drive, so back right? i thought maybe a worn shock absorber? anyone else had the same problem before? and is there anyway to determine that this is the cause? cheers

For every one who has tried these things are a biatch to get in. I found a rather easy way to replace them. So here it is. What you will need: Hammer Vice 1 1/2" metal tubing Something to brace middle of control Arm (will explain down the track) You're new Bushes Your old control arms The fist thing you will need to do is get the old ones out. This is done simply by leaving them out in the sun for about an hour so there hot to the touch. Then bash the crap out of the small end. You will notice that one is smaller. Now to get your new ones in. These are the items I used for mine. The metal tubing was my old exhaust I still had lying around; it is perfe…

the 4AC has spat a head (water dribbling into number 3 exhaust port). After removing the head, I can't see the hole so I assume a water gallery has corroded through and broken into the exhaust port - I further assume that there's no way of repairing this as it's internal. So ... Anybody know anywhere in Adelaide that I can get a secondhand or recond head for a 4AC without too much hassle? bugger, Slapper

Hi, I have a some questions about a 4a supercharger I have been offered one for $200 and i want to fit it to a 1978 dual carby celica, I have never fitted a supercharger before but I have done a turbo or two. Q1. Do oil or water lines have to be run to the 4a supercharger? ( I Have seen some easton chargers before and all you have to do is attached the charger to aircon bracket and run a pipe from the underside of the charger to the carby and another to a filter, is this the same with the 4a type) Q2 I want to keep the dual carby setup, has this been done before? (sound different so why not do it.) Q3 what RPM do the 4a c…

Hey all.. My car misses and is exactly the same as described here.. Quote: For the past few months I have had a problem with my 2001 Toyota Corolla (manual) sputtering and jerking when I start out and in low gears. I can press the gas pedal all the way to the floor and it doesn't seem to make it go. Also, the rpms drop and the car nearly shuts off. However, once I get going, everything is fine its usually just when I am first accelerating or when I am in low gears and/or stop and go. Now my question is where might i find a hole for the t peice? Apparerntly the instruction tell me to braze it into the sump of all things! but how the heck will that meter my pressure? I'm thinking i have to tread the sandwhich plate that all aw11 mr2's have. correct? If so will i need to mount a drain pipe out of it or what? And yair this i my first attemt at sorting out the plroblem that is wires. Seems like electrical guages really arnt elecky after all :) did that make sense?

hey guys well the following is goin on with the 4k at the moment ... Its got a stock carby on it, its pretty clean, looked like it had a rebuild recently ... It doesn't normally idle on flat ground, just idles smooth at about 1000rpm then drops down to 700ish then conks out. When I'm parked in my driveway as i open the gate, the car will rev fine but at like 1200 rpm ... Sometimes when i take a corner at the lights or whatever a bit quick the car drops out a bit then picks up, as though it was starved of fuel temporarily ... Am i right to assume the float level is too low? I don't suppose that this could be why I'm getting 440ks off 50L :) Thanks for…

  34. Hello Guys, Firstly Ive had my trusty 4k-e EFI starlet for a while now and it has had an intermitent tap in the top end for a while. I pulled the hydraulic tappets to bits this week and discovered that the diaphram's inside and rooted. So they are back in the car. Now I love my baby soo much that I need to keep her in a1 condition. What parts will I need to convert a hydraulic tappet 4k, to cam followers and pushrods. Will a 3k Solid lifter and cam follower work in a 4k hydraulic motor? Or do I need the 4k solid as a donor? Are the rod lengths different in 2/3/4k's?
