Hi guys, Hoss from Sweden here. I'm having a bit of a concern. I'm the owner of a stock KE70-82 and I'm about to get some new wheels (stud pattern 4/114,3). The rims I been looking at have markings on the outside "5½ J*15 H2-E40" and the markings on the inside are "5" and "86". As far as I understand (and please correct me if I'm wrong) the 5½ stands for the width, 15 stands for the diameter and E40 for the offset. The H2 I don't have clue to what it means... And it's the same with the 5 and the 86. I don't really know the size of the stock rims I have now, but the tires are 145/80/r13. According to my calculations the tires I need to get should have th…

Delivering pizzas quite happily the other night. On the way back to the store from the last del of the night, engine starts to run rough, as if it was weak on one cylinder. I think, "Meh, probably just some carby bullshit. It'll fix itself." Get back to the store, less than one km, "Oh shit." What looks like smoke, coming in quite a copious fashion from the exhaust. So I surmise the worst, that the rings are f@$ked and a full rebuild is required. Baby it home, next day take a look. Do compression test, phew. Its all good. Look in radiator, it is sans coolant. Look at dipstick, it is covered in creamy sludge. Aaargh! The mysterious white cloud from exhaust was steam. So am…

  3. Hi, My name is Cliff and I am a 1998 Corolla owner (aka: Chevy Prizm) from Northwest Florida. My mechanic is making no headway and is getting ready to throw in the towel on my Corolla. The car stalls when headlights or AC is turned on – the car runs fine otherwise. For a few weeks prior to this, the headlights would never turn off if they were ever turned on initially via the headlight switch– I would have to pull a relay under the hood momentarily and plug it back in to extinguish the lights. During this period, the Daytime Running Lights became totally inoperative (meaning that they never came on, but had always worked previously). Immediately prior to this, …

Hi, With my KE30 the old 3K is getting a bit tired and I plan to install a 4K motor into it and a KE70 5 speed box. But I was just wanting to know what other people have been through in QLD to get there cars road legal with it and insurance to still cover them? So mainly I'm looking for info on how to go about doing this mod on the paper work side and where I should start as all RTA could tell me was ring a mechanic blah blah no help. As I know how to do the swap but since I need my car I was hoping to get the swap done in a day and the next day take the car to a place to get the blue plate. But can anyone give me a good name or number of a person in the Brisbane/ I…

Hi ya. We have a hilux surf 1988, turbo. We travel with the air-con on and go up a hill and we loose power and temp gauge goes into the red, only does this when air-con is on. Temp goes back down when you go along the flat. Only started doing this 1yr ago. We have had the following done: radiator, hoses, thermostat, temp sensor, pressure test-hot and cold, added an extra fan on the front. Have had it to 2 diesel blokes without success. Use to get 400 to 450 ks now only get 350 ks. think thats about it. thanks debbie

She has a fairly stock 4k engine with stock headders and what not its got a cat on it, the original tailpipe is 1.5" I'm just wondering what would sound the s**t off the back for as less cash as possible. I was thinking of gettin rid of the stocky and wackin a canon 3" outlet, tho it may look a bit..."I wish i was a lancer". The other option was just going for a normal sports muffler dual tip or single. Maby i cud just chop the muffler on and have a straight pipe lol. PS. i unbolted the exhaust from cat back...sounds…

The awds are very rare to see and are mostly those crappy wagons. Do the ae82s have the body to support an awd gearbox with the shaft and rear diff? Has anyone done anything like this before? I see a place for a shaft on the inside, but not really under the car. Does anyone have any photos of the awd driveline to share?

Hey all, just curious as to what people think about these engines? I don't know a great lot about them, have searched a bit here and elsewhere but its a bit hard to search for them due to their title. They seem to be pretty popular with the celica crowd and can make around 160hp relatively easy (correct me if I'm wrong!) but less people have them in corollas. Is there a reason for this? Weight? I'm considering putting one in my KE70 as things are available and relatively cheap...! 24. :) I have a question for any one that can shed some light on the subject, I currently have a KE20 corolla that I used for racing through country dirt roads with friends, I have retired the car to the paddock to teach the children how to drive as the car is very easy and reliable for them to learn in, here is the question, I am building an engine and need some info, 5k engine, 4K-e, injection, Big port 3K head, BMW bolt on super charger, Silvia intercooler, will the compression be low enough and will the 3K head match up with the 5K block without much modification?

Hi, Just going through a KE70 pollution manual I have and it talks about a air injection (AI) system. These push cool air into your exhaust under pressure and helps promote the oxidization of CO and HC in the exhaust. So I was wondering if anyone has one of these they can take photos off or if in the ipswich area has one for give away? As I am interested for a possible power increasing project not a decreasing one like most pollution gear is..lol Cameron P.S. it was on the 3T-C, 1X corona motor, or the celica 21R-C motor and the 5M-E crown motor.

hey guys, well I'm having some issues withthe brakes on the 1ggte ke70. basically what happens is that when you depress the brake pedal it goes down along way and the brakes arnt too sharp. if you then lift off and quickly back down the "pump up" and i get the stiff pedal i expect these are ra60 calipers on the front and alfa romeo on the rear, but i don't think that matters ive replaced: brand new master cylinder, brand new brake pads, brand new fluid, brand new front rotors and remachined rears there are no leaks and I'm sitting here scratching my head. i have no issues with them due to the compression braking, but i failed an rwc last week because of this and h…

Of course you alone can't try every brake pad on the market and find the best one so I thought it might be a good idea to gather some info on different types. Now naturally not everyones braking setup is the same so this will end up being a rough guide at best. Try to only comment on cars that youve tried more than one type of pad on. Start your review with a short summary, you can write more about them underneath if you so desire. I will try to keep a summary of good :P and bad :( reviews (and inbetween). Try to keep it performance oriented but you can of course make comments ab…
