  1. Started by GBKE15,

I think that I have read all of the FAQ's and googled more than I normally do at the bar on Friday night and I'm just checking for clarification on a few things. I swapped in a 3k-c into my ke15. I want to port and polish the intake and try to do something with the cam. Can I swap the cam and head from the k-c to the 3k-c? Just trying to see if I can work on the k-c head myself and get it finished/checked by a machine shop while still having a running motor in the car. Also, I have tried to find a cam through all of the parts sources here in the US and cannot find a cam available like the Tighe 112 (i think that was the right #) and I keep seeing something about …

Hey there, my name is james and I'm driving an sr coupe, 5k with cam & 32/36 weber, 5spd, fxgt dash, elec windows, central locking, integra seats, cynos back seats, lowered in progressive springs, re-set leaves and gas shocks, just about to take off the road for paint, air brush and motor polish. well thats me and now for the question. i was hoping to tap into some panelbeater/fabricator expertise. ive just had fi-glass flares made, have plastic side skirts and fi-glass end caps. Can i use bog or nu-tec to blend fi-glass parts in with the body before the new paint job or with heat and time will fi-glass and metal expand at different rates and crack the brand new pain…

Looking to give a standard AE82 h'back a bit of "attitude" on the road. As part of that, I'm looking at Kingsprings superlows (30-35mm lower) but these might be a little too low for my liking. Anyone know of a sort/brand of springs that wont drop the car as much as superlows ? Not planning a body kit at present though. There is a set of 4 new Kingspring superlows on eBay now for $220 - is that a reasonable buy ? thanks.

Hi all, matt from Townsville, QLD, Australia here. I have a 1983 KE70 CS wagon and the lock on the tail gate has jammed. I've pulled it apart and found that the door release mechanism is fine, it's the lock barrel itself that's jammed. The key won't slide in, it stops about half way. I've tried squirting some lubricant into the lock but no difference. As many of you will know, the lock and door release are in a single unit, so it's pretty annoying. The only way I can open the tail gate is to climb into the car from the rear passenger doors, remove the trim panel from the inside of the tail gate and release the latch by hand. I'm 100% sure that it hasn't been tampered…

  9. Hi Guys, If this is in the wrong section I'm sorry. Hoping someone can help - car is import, based loosely on gt starlet/toyota paseo. Automatic, 1.5L engine. Car is silent when not moving. Some days, I experience a grinding metal noise coming from the front drivers side wheel. Some days there is clunking that makes the car jerk like backfiring, but its clunking, not backfiring. Some days, the car is completely silent. I am a bit concerned as I DID have a hit at the drivers front wheel back in september of last year, but this has come on within the last week or so. At first I thought wheel bearings or maybe brakes and was gearing up to go get the br…

  13. Hi guys, I have a question. Basically, i used to know a panel beater that used to "modify" the exhausts of his cars. As a result, the cars always sounded a bit louder and tough! All with the car's standard exhaust What i want to know is, "is it possible to somehow make the standard exhaust on my ae82 corolla sound a little tougher and "rorty" by doing a few simple modifications? Basically, insurance wont allow me to modiy my car with an aftermarket exhaust, and i can't stand driving a car that has such a wimpy exhaust note. Please help!

  14. Started by irokin,

Ive found (with my gearbox at least) that if I stop from ~100kmph in 4th or 5th (usually 5th) and just clutch in and stop (if the phones ringing I don't bother down shifting, its faster just to stop), the selector forks jam in gear and I can't change gears until I'm doing ~40kmph. Now as you can imagine taking off in 5th is a real bastard and hard on the clutch. I'm not sure if this is just my gearbox being crap, or its a design flaw in the early T50s. It happened again today, and Id say my box is pretty well rooted this time. 2nd gear syncro works for up shifts but not down shifts now. 5th gear syncro has a metalic grinding noise (def syncro) but still works fine…

ok, got the extractors and 2" all the way with 1 muffler put on yesty. prob is, the car runs like crap, I'm pretty sure its the carby, the idle is rough and drops about 200-300 rpm, and then gains it back plus more, etc etc etc. also there is a big flat spot on acceleration, so I'm guessing the carby is really munted. mate has a weber that i will try when i get the adaptor plate. also, got new rotors put on the front, and the pads are still brand new, was wondering does it take time for the brake pads to adjust to the new rotors?. cause my brakeing power is still really low, thanks

Righty-o. Brought diff center in to Diff Lapping today, Steve took one glance at it (wasn't even a big glance, if I had even blinked I would have thought he didn't even look) and the verdict is, in very technical terms: "mate, it's farked. Can't do anything with it, you need new gears" So yes, picked up a spare diff yesterday, don't know what ratio (forgot to check) but if it's the correct ratio I'm hoping to use those gears with my "LSD" center. Cost to swap gears at shop: $60. Spoke to someone today about swapping the gears, they recon it's a "piece of piss" job, and that as long as I'm using the same gears together (ie pinion and crown etc) and I torque it …

OK so I've had a problem for a while that my battery runs flat really easily. I was listening to my stereo for like 20 minutes when I waxed my car thisarv, so when I go to start her up she's flat as a tack........ no worries, got a jump start, headed off. Ran alright for a while but then the lights started going dim. So I pull into a side street and let it idle for 10 minutes or so.... pull off and the problem is still just as bad, and after a minute I couldn't even rev the engine without the lights off!! Ran without lights on, trying to get home, but then she won't even run with the lights off entirely and I broke down and had to call mum for a jumpstart again. …

The exhaust is done and all seems well with the quality. I go to start the car and I have no spark. It's got to be in the distributor/points/rotor/timing area I think. Here's what I have done: I have checked to see if there is a fuse that could be blown and cannot find one. I cannot find any wires that are cooked/loose. Again, this is a 3k…

well the other day i just found out that the linkage between the throttle spring and the lever that pumps the fuel in is missing. so i figured at the moment it would be good for fuel economy but down on horses. at the moment it is just relying on vacum to suck the fuel through, which is why is i try and accelerate fast it tries to die on me and makes the big slurp sound. my question is, is there any disadvantages in the long run of leaving it as is for a while until i can find/make a replacement? please correct me on anything i havent got right. cheers tom
