we lowered my mates rolla the other day, the problem is that he has 14 x 7 ceterlines with a phat as off set, and because of how wide and low it is now the wheels rub on the fruont gaurds with only a slight turn, what can we do to stop or lessen the rubbing. as you can see it is quite low sorry about how filthy it is, bit of a dirt drifter

Hi, I happen to be reading some where on the net that the old KEXX series corolla was released with a diesel motor in it. I was wondering is this true and if so are they rare to pick up? Also does anyone know if the liteace that used the K series motor ever came with a diesel motor if it did can we place this into our corollas if they didn't have a diesel motor from the factory? How much side-to-side axle play is acceptable? I've got a KE35 Corolla with an RA28 diff, running Bluebird TRX rear discs brakes. I bought the diff already set up with the brakes. For as long as I can remember since I put the diff in there's always been a clunking sound from the back of the car when I go around some corners, but I've never really known what it was. I have a clutch style Cusco LSD and I know this makes clunking sounds as it engages and disengages. Anyway, last event I did I noticed that at least one of my discs was occasionally scraping on my caliper when I went around some corners, it only happened when I was coasting around corners. Looke…

Hey everyone, I am in the process of fully rebuilding my 74 Ke20. It has the stock 3K engine in it, well i pulled it out last week, and the original 4 speed box in it. I got a manifold for a twin weber carb and a twin weber card for it. Any suggestions for a cheap power fix until i can afford for sr20DET conversion?

Hi All, I am looking at modifying a 4K motor to put in to a KE30. But I see when people put the 3K head on the 4K motor it goes to 10:1 CR. With this do you guys have to use high octain fuel or do you use the standard pump fuel? Also in morris minors they had a water mist injection to stop detonation. If we use a CR of 10:1 could we use this set up so we only need to use standard fuel if we don't want to or can't afford high octain unleaded at 98? Cameron

I saw this corolla gauge cluster on ebay. It had a speedo that went up to 200 km/hr, and it had a tachometer: corolla gauge I've never seen this type of gauge in a corolla before. What would of it came out of? Maybe it only came out in Japanese models It went for a pretty high price. Would be nice to have though. Bruce

Hey guys, I recently checked my 3K for oil and found no oil cap I don't know how long it has not had one, is this a big issue? Not that much oil has came out of it. Also the stupid oil caps are only push down, hence why it probably came off, I was just wondering can you buy the Toyota oil caps anymore? Or do I have to get aftermarket? Brad

Andrew, I promised you I would post you a picture of the 5K engine, to show you how clean it is now ! To fill you all in. This engine came from a KE55 that had been done up by someone, unknown. A 5K & K50 g/box had been added and the interior done up. Anyway the cancer set in, and the car was doomed to be a "paddock basher" in a large orchard near Caloundra, where it was used to "get around" the orchard, on muddy tracks. When Andrew & I saw it, it had grass inside the car (growing I think) and you have never seen such a dirty engine. The car had more cancer that the Qld Health system, and there was only one place for the body. Back to Japan, …

i've heard that spot welding at certain points in the chassis helps stiffen the car. does anyone have info on the proper procedure for this? i tried searching the net but can't find any. btw, i'm putting together a 74 te27 corolla so the original body is really old. that's why i'm looking for ways to stiffen the chassis. without resorting to the installation of a roll cage. thanks

Hi All I recently had a drifting accident which has prompted me to get a new diff that happens to have been welded! But it is a t18 diff out of an te72 rolla or celica. Ive heard although the ae71's and the te72 both run the t50 gear boxes because the te72's are older the number of output splines in the gear box are diifferent? Any one know if this is true? If this is not true i could just run the t18 tail shaft with no probs to my gear box. If it is true is there a way to use the stock ae71 tailshaft and connect it to the t18 diff? Cheers for any help Stuart

Hi, my name is Andrew. I reasonably new to the forum so excuse the ignorance. I have recently bought a 1994 Toyota Corolla Seca (yes I realise that this is slightly newer than the cars this forum is built around, however I am hoping that you might all still be willing and able to help.) I have been thinking about installing a Cold Air Intake over the holidays for some entertainment. However after some research on the topic I still have some questions. Firstly I understand that the more expensive filter, the better filtration and life span. However I was wondering if it is recommended to fork out the cash and buy a brand name such as K & N or will a cheaper fil…

A bloke gave me this gear box. He reckoned he got it out of a KE55 (1980 model I think). I wanted to get a 5 speed gear box (K50) for my 4K engine. But I'm a bit confused. It looks like a T50 gear box. The clutch fork is on the passenger side (starter motor side), and it doesn't have a return spring on it. It must be a hydraulic clutch. And the drain plug is not direcetly underneath like on my K40 gear box. The bell housing has got '3A' on the top of it. And the bolt pattern looks a bit different to my K40. He gave me the drive shaft, since the front yoke was smaller in diameter than my KE30, so I can swap it over. I counted the splines, and I think its 22. …

hi guys. after driving home in the pissing rain is tassie (yay for tassie weather) i decided i needed to increase the amount of light that my headlights supply. i think i could see more with them off. so anyway, i see a few options i know of, but i have really only heard, but never tried these. : 1) use a lower gauge earth lead 2) brighter globes (how bright is the legal max?) 3) relay switch i don't know of anymore options avaliable. labour is no worry, i am only limited to cost. if anybody knows any other ways or can even tell me how to do this i would be very greatful... 91 Toyota Paseo if that helps. thanks

hey guys well my diff plug on my borg-warner (from ke55) must be cross-threaded coz it freespins when you try and undo it to top up the diff oil ... i guess my only option is the change the backing plate over to one where the diff plug isn't cross threaded ... is there any nacks with a corolla diff in changing this plate over? I just don't wanna start it and drain what oil is left in the diff, and find something out afterwards and not have the car on the road ... its dropped a bit of oil out of the diff, and i wanna top it up ASAP but can't ... grr Thanks for you help, dyzza

I have an SV21 Camry. It doesn't work. I don't know why. RACQ doesn't know why either. It's sitting in the middle of Brisbane city, and I probably can't keep it there forever, but RACQ will only tow it 10km... I drove it to work this morning (no issues), and now it won't go anywhere anymore :monkey: Anyway. Battery OK Starter motor OK Fuel pump OK Fuses OK Spark plugs OK Cold start injector OK Injectors getting power, but NO PULSE. What is wrong? Dead computer? That's the only part the RACQ dude can think of. :)

Well now that my ficken oil guages have arrived (took a whole month from that ebay sell just jap :lmao:) i need to mount the t peice for the temp sensor and pressure sender. I'm thinking i have to tread the sandwhich plate that all aw11 mr2's have. correct? If so will i need to mount a drain pipe out of it or what? And yair this i my first attemt at sorting out the plroblem that is wires. Seems like electrical guages really arnt elecky after all :) did that make sense?

Rust, the favourite find of the auto enthusiast :P just doing the chassis of my ke25 and i have found some here and there much to my amusement lol... anyway any diy/mechanical person probably has come across their fair share of it and I'm interested to know how people get rid of it. depending how severe it is, seems rust can be sanded, chemical converted, blasted, ground down to bare metal, needle scalled, chemically removed, electro bath removal, cut out and rewelded. if it can't be cut out and rewelded such as a component or area that would be difficult to replace, and isnt very severe, then what does everyone recommend out of the other met…

well as the topic says, the plug in my borg-warner diff won't undo ... it just spins and spins and spins and spins, and spins some more. In either direction ... so at the moment the plug is half-tight, constantly. Which means it leaks slowly, and makes it hard if i wanna put any oil into it (running a bit low i think) ... What the hell? Is this common? Tried searchin but didn't find shizzle... Dyzza

hey guys well the following is goin on with the 4k at the moment ... Its got a stock carby on it, its pretty clean, looked like it had a rebuild recently ... It doesn't normally idle on flat ground, just idles smooth at about 1000rpm then drops down to 700ish then conks out. When I'm parked in my driveway as i open the gate, the car will rev fine but at like 1200 rpm ... Sometimes when i take a corner at the lights or whatever a bit quick the car drops out a bit then picks up, as though it was starved of fuel temporarily ... Am i right to assume the float level is too low? I don't suppose that this could be why I'm getting 440ks off 50L :) Thanks for…

Hi everyone I'm having an interesting issue with a ke70 i purchased for my girlfriend. under load (i.e only driving up the mountain where i live) the car will loose all power and the car will begin to make a lagre hissing noise (almost like large air compressor cannot pinpoint if this is coming out the exhaust or the engine bay). The car will also heat up slightly but stays within the "normal" range on the guage. on pulling over the car will run very slightly rough but then correct itself within 20 seconds or so. after losing power and reaching the top the car will drive normally and wont do it again until under a consistant high load. the problem has …

I bought a KE70 with a bigport 4age (silver with black writing on the cam covers). It desperately needs a clutch. What I want to know is where does the clutch come from. It's got a sprinter gearbox so which clutch should I buy. Will an ae82 twincam clutch work??? I have not idea. What do I ask for at auto1 or wherever I decide to buy it from? Anyone got any ideas?????? Thanks Daniel

Hi all, Wondering if you can help my wife, she is the proud owner of an old VP 3.8L wagon, and tonight driving home all of the electricals failed, starting with the dash dimming out, headlights dying and dash gauges reading lower than they should, then the car sputtered for a second and died. The car starts but stalls shortly afterwards. Any suggestions?? Thanks,

hey guys well i had a look at the plate on my diff. Its a borg warner, 4.11 ratio. My car was originally automatic, and a 5 speed was put in it with a different diff by the previous owner ... T334 – 42 – 001 this is on the plate under p/n (part number?) ... does this mean it is a t-series diff ? I checked the FAQ and came up with a few things ... 6.7" (T) Celica ALL 71-85 (RWD) Corona RT85,95,104,114,105,115,119,134,32,34,36 72-82 Corolla TE37,51 75-79 Corolla TE27 (some) 74 Corolla AE86 83-87 (?) ... Common upgrades are a Celica/T18/Corona T series 6.7" diff ... --> could this be what it is ? The only thing that sent me down this path w…

Well guys, since the 7k has died we've decided to do a full rebuild It is coming out of the car this week. My engine rebuilder has never done a 7k and said he has very little tech data on them. If anybody has any info that may help it would be appreciated. We hope to develop it beyond factory specs. So things like cam angles , valve settings, basically anything and every thing. When we have aquired as much info as pos we will then work out what to do. I will try to keep as much info as possible and post our results when finished
