i have been offered a turbo and turbo manifold for my ca18 the turbo is a t3 off a saab, so it has small exhaust housing. minimal shaft play, but the guy informs me it could do with a rebuild. and the manifold is a standard ca item that has "apprantly" been ported for "better" flow. it also has a t3 flange so that helps some what. what do you guys reckon its worth, as he has said make an offer and i'm not very good at offering for things (ie. i always offer way to much)

hi, my motor suddenly developed a noise. It seems to be coming from the valve gear. it starts to rattle around 3500rpm. Could it be the valves need clearance checked? Any ideas?? last time it happened I topped up the oil and it went away but not this time. cheers, Jon

Ok time for another question Will an ex TA22 T50 gearbox bolt up to my 4A series engine with the bell housing from my T40 gear box that i have in the car now, i'm not sure if the shifter will line up in the tunnel or if the bell housing will fit? I know that i'll need a different tailshaft as the 5 speed is a longer box but i just need to know if the box will fit before i buy it. Thanks for your help again guys Chris

hi guys, look, i know this is a corolla forum but i'm sure people here could tell me a good place for me to service new ride :y: which is an '86 toyota celica st162. i've been looking for a corolla coupe in melb. area but i found no luck on getting it, so i got myself a celica instead. now, this car has some problems on the engine, which is a 3s-ge with 5-speed manual transmission. the car seems to be choked (?) when i hit the gas. it happens on low rpm like 1-3 rpm. so i'm thinking of servicing the car. as i don't want to get ripped off from the mechanics (i just got to australia like 3 months ago and i haven't go to a mechanic before) i need some suggestions on…

hey, on my ke25 i am doing the ke70 brake upgrade. now i wouldnt mind a dual circuit brake master cylinder and one thats a bit bigger to suit the ke70 calipers as the ke70 calipers use a 20.64 bore, compared to the corolla 17.46 bore. the rear wheel cylinders are both 20.64 on the ke25 and ke70. now the galant ga master brake cylinders are no longer avaliable supposedly but are 19.05 bore which would be good. the galant gd master brake cylinders are still avaliable in boosted 20.64 bore and non boosted 17.46 bore. now the questions are... if i use the non boosted one will 18% bore difference make that much pedal difference to drive around? upd…

Hi, I'm my KE30 for a while now the fuel gauge has been playing up on me. It gives false readings and is slow to work. Some problems it has is I can fully fill the tank and gauge will lift really fast then go really slowly and take about 5min to get to the right reading. Then I can drive 150Km and it will not move but turn off the ignition and back on later or when you next drive the gauge will go from reading full to half full tank. So I drove to the fuel depo to see if it was gauge or motor chewing the fuel and it was the gauge as it took 12L of fuel to fill the tank so the gauge should of dropped a 1/4 only. So I have decided to pull the fuel tank sender …

Hello all. I`m looking for a 5speed box to fit in my k-engined ke35. I have never seen or heard of a k50 in Norway so looking for options. Was at the scrapyard today and found a 82 mod. km20 with a 4k in it. It had a 4speed ,wire clutch , bolt on bellhousing, side-lever activated gearbox. Question : is this bellhousing of any use to me ? what gear box were these cars fitted with ? It had a 4stud big diff that i belive is a e-type. About 40mm wider then my u type. Could not find ID. plate of car. don't know where it is supposed to be either. All help appreciated. Thanks for great forum that has already given me plenty of useful info. Anybody in…

Hey all, I'm Jamie from Christchurch, New Zealand. I'm planning to do up a ke30 in the near future and am gonna be building a mild 5k to drop into it. The purpose of this post is so that I can find out if I should be using a single or twin sidedraft setup. I'm aware that either will do the job, but firstly I've heard that twin setups can be a pain in the ass and/or costly to tune and keep them tuned. And secondly is that a twin setup may be unnecessarily thirsty. (The main reason for this concern is I'll be on a student allowance and would like to keep the fuel consumption within a sensible range for a 1500cc motor.) I've got a PAIR of Mikuni/Solex 40mm sidedraf…

Hi, Well I'm building a big air blower out of a SC14 supercharger. But I ran into the problem it has a flat belt like modern cars have and I needed to run V-belts to turn it. Also for a K motor to mount a SC it is easier if you use V-belts. So today in the shed after some measuring and looking I noticed the V-belt pulley with clutch in it off a sigma aircon pump FITS the SC14 I have :) All you need to do is remove all of it apart from the barrel the bearing sits on and do a swap. So I added photos below to make it easier to explain. The pic above shows the aircon on the left and SC14 on the right and both pulled back to the aluminum barrel that holds the be…

Well i was webbing the other day when i came across with this: Introduction - http://somender-singh.com/content/view/7/31/ http://www.somender-singh.com/ http://somender-singh.com/content/view/65/43/ well my question is, have anyone try this in a 4K??? i don't know what to belive because its not just another fuel saving magnet, it have been tested by a lot of people with good results overall and they seen like real people. i woult try it, but i only have one 4K and its daily driver so i can't mess a lot with it. I think that maybe some people who has the skills and lots of 4K heads around can do something..... and tell the comunity :)

Well, i took the ke30 to the drags last week, and things didnt go so well.. :D I spent the morning setting the boost to the precise 11 psi, and making sure everything was sweet, and loaded her on the trailer and off to the willowbank raceway. On the way i dropped into the servo to pick up some octane boost i normally use the nos brand but all i could get was some dodgy "octane boost and clean". So thinking this would be better than nothing, i put it in :D . On my first run i forgot to let the tyres down to 18, and smoked the tyres pretty bad, but once i got to third it was breaking down like crazy, it was running that bad that i was changing gears at 6000. It ra…

well basically, i cut my ke55 air intake pipe down to a shorter length cos it gets real narrow so i cut it where it was wider, turned it around to face a hole coming thru the grill to get more and colder air..the bad thing is, i will probly have to get the police to id my vehicle so i can register it (long story/problem) will they pull me up on this? or my power cables from the batter for my strereo that arent screwed in? or cos my mate took off sum of the pollution control measures..he didnt pull em out, just disconected them.

Hi.. I'm new to the site so sorry if I ask a few questions that have been asked over and over. I know that in the FAQ it mentions a little bit about interchangeable gearboxes. Ive got a KE20 with a 4K engine and have just got myself a 5speed box out of a ke70. I understand that there were two different 5 speed gearboxes brought out in the ke70, so do both go in fine, and what troubles may I have other then having to cut a hole in the tunnel to fit the gear lever.. Also if the ke70 box has the same spline as my 4k, is it true that the fly wheels out of the ke70's were lighter.. Cheers

Hey guys, So today I start up my car and drive out, when i get to the roundabout i press the clutch to go from 4th to 2nd and the revs drop suddenly to just 400-500 revs. This is a far cry from the 700-800rpm the car normalls sits at in neutral. It feels like it's about to stall every time i put the clutch in. This is making everyday driving more difficult, and is really pissing me off. I thought the carby may have been clogged with shit (It's a 4A-C by the way) so i bought some fuel additive to clean it out, but to no avail. At first i thought the hot weather today may have had an effect, however i've been driving it around just in the last hour at night time and th…

If anyone tells me to search ive searched and found nothing, So this has been bugging my for ages now, my rear suspension sits around 1 -2cm higher on the left hand side at the rear, i have checked all my trailing arms and they are all perfectly straight, i have a stock panhard rod although that doesnt make a differnce to the height. I have had around 3-4 differnt rear end set ups, with everyone it has always sat higher on the left hand side, my current set up is kyb excel g short strokes and 6.5kg springs. Ive also heard of a few other Ke's not just 70's doing this aswell, happend to anyone here? Here are 2 pictures for a reference, sorry they are the best i have.
