Hey All, Been going through the KE30 troubleshooting all the little problems, and the only thing left that doesn't work on the dash is the "Brake" warning light, that sits with the hand brake light. I'm assuming that its a low fluid level warning or similar, and also assuming that it connects to the sensor in the side of the distribution block thingo on the firewall. What i want to know is under what circumstances is this light meant to come on? There is currently no fluid whatsoever in the front brake circuit as i have changed to new front calipers that have yet to be bled, and the light still remains off with the ignition turned on. It's not a huge issue, but it…

heya all, i happen to have all the bits required to build myself a ae35 (ke35 + 4A-C) for free! i want to get it going with what i have but i don't have a clutch master cylinder. what i want to know is, can a ke10 brake master cylinder be used as a clutch master? i use to own a 4A-C ke11 and as far as i can remember this was done, maybe with some interal changes?? i know you all probably think I'm tight but i want to have the car running and be able to say it didnt cost a cent... cheers scott.

Hey All, My name is Adam, and i'm currently in the process of fixing up a KE30 to be a daily driver. The problem i have at the moment is that the wheels i've sourced foul on the struts, and i imagine it will only get worse once tyres are fitted. So what i want to know, is do all the 4 * 114.3 RWD 'rollas run the same offset between the strut body and the wheel bolt up face, or will a later model hub (perhaps one that came factory fitted with wider tyres than a ke30) give me more clearance? If there is nothing available i will turn up some proper bolt on spacers with correct concentric locating rings, but i'd prefer to keep this as legal (and cheap :P) as …

  5. Hello, ive just installed a 3k and 5 speed box into my 1968 toyota corolla. I encountered a problem when i realised that my stock ke10 tailshaft doesnt fit the 5 speed. So i ventured to the wreckers and bought a ke70 tailshaft (which is two piece; Unuseable). I bought this coz the spline off this tailshaft fits the 5 speed output shaft. i was going to take apart the uni and use it on my stock ke10 driveshaft, but alas, the uni is a different size and can't be swapped. All i need to know is what one piece tailshaft from later model corollas will fit the output shaft on my 5 speed, so i can get one and cut it down to fit my ke10. Or even better one that is the right size an…

Hey guys, Long time reader, first time poster. This is possibly the stupidest thing done, but has anyone put a supercharger onto a 4K before? I have a KE20 that has had a fair bit of work done on the engine (Only gets used on a track) and have a small (SC12) supercharger to put on. If anyone has any information on doing this, I would like to hear. Josh :D

Cracked open 2 of my old T50 gearboxes today, one of them is a JDM AE86 box, the other is an ADM TA22 box. The JDM box has 2 missing teeth off the layshaft (2nd gear, I think), and apart from that can't tell very much. However, the oil was replaced less than a week before it self destructed, and the oil that came out previously had lots of sparkles. The TA22 box has lots and lots and lots of shiny sparkles. I replaced the TA22 box because it was making a hell of a lot of noise, and it kept popping out of gears all the time. Both boxes seem to have lots of little scratches across the wear face, and both of them also seem to have a bit of corrosion on the g…

  11. It appears that I've got a small problem with my headlights on the Corolla. When the car is off, if I turn the headlights on, the dash highbeam light comes on, but the headlights don't. I can hear the headlight relay click, but the lights don't actually come on. If I turn the engine on, then everything works as they should. If I then turn the engine off with the lights on, the lights stay on. *sometimes* when I turn the lights on (with the engine off), they come on, but most of the time it just brings up the highbeam light... And, if I push the stalk to highbeam, nothing happens. But if I flick it to flash the highbeam, the highbeam comes on. WTF??…

I just signed up and love this Forum. I just bought my first car, happens to be a mad 84 ke70 Corolla . I love it, i was shocked by the number of mods you could do to them. I have this problem with my door lights and clock. They just don't work. they were working when i bought the car and after we put my head unit in they stuffed up. And yes i have checked the fuses and bulbs and replaced them. After that i don't no what to try. Could someone help me or give me advice.

Hi all, Just spent two two weeks rebuilding my carby and it was all jammed up with gunk.. would an oil catch can help this? If so could i just run the tube from the block in to an old "MILO" tin. Would i have to vent the gas back in to the carby? Since my block has two "breather" holes should i run them both in to the can?? might seem like a silly question but some body might have played with this before! thanks in advance..

Need to know (if you do that is) what size jets people have in these when on a mild 4k. The secondaries on mine feel good, but the idle the power transition is way the rich, and it is doughy as hell until it hits about 2500 rpm. Long shot I think, but you never know... I know Nick has one of these for his KE70, is it on there yet??

OK, I am getting sick and tired of people talking up welding there diffs and so on so heres a simple explaination for you all, there are there MAJOR types of diff setup, open limited Slip (LSD) Locked. OPEN: simply where its easier to turn the wheels the power will go. E.G you are turning a corner and the outside wheel starts to spin, all of the power will go to that wheel, so your car will slow down as you have NO power to te ground. LSD: A limited slip diff will try to distro the power evenly between both wheels, E.G you are turning a corner and the outside wheel starts to spin, The diff …

An idea... Someone should try putting Falcon rear discs on. I had a brief look at the brackets, and without measuring everything, it looks like it wouldn't be hard to get to bolt up. The problems I can see are that the bracket may be too thick, and that the discs are 5 stud, so you'd have to get them redrilled to 4 stud. But the calipers are nice and beefy, cheap as chips, and the discs are BIG and VENTILATED.

hey guys, my clutch in my ke70 is slipping again. it is only the cable operated one, so there is no chance of hydraulic oil getting in onto the pressure pate or anything (as my trusty haynes manual explains). i adjusted the circlip in the engine bay and it was a good 4-5 grooves loose, but since then i can really really notice that the car revs are high, but the car is nuggeting along. another sign that its getting worse is that i use to be able to, when wet, give more revs and dump clutch a bit quicker and get light wheelspin. i don't really do many burnouts and crap, but g/b was changed prob a yr ago now, don't u think that the mechanic wuld have sed 'yeh clutch is …

I can spend about $200 more on this car without the wife knowing that I'm spending way too much on the car...........so I was thinking either extractors or head work on the mighty 3K. I'm getting the cam reground as we speak for $75 at crow cams so thats all done however using the search function I read several posts that suggest that with a cam in the engine I really need to have extractors. So since I was planning on cleaning up the head myself anyway I figured extractors are the go. So I ring up a couple of places here in Melb and nearly fell of my chair when I'm quoted between $550 and $630 for extractors with a 2" pipe. I thought this was a bit excessive so I…

I'm not even sure if the speedo cable will fix/work what the hell can i do? why couldn't k series motors be crossflow eh?

I would assume that if you drive offroad or on dirt etc (autocross, rally etc) then taking the belt covers off wouldn't be the best idea in the world, since you'd be more prone to getting shit on the belt? That said, I've got holes in my covers where the FWD engine mounts are supposed to stick out...
