ok so probably another stupid question to those of you who know , but i have a ke 30 1978 auto ,and a ke55 1981 manual, need to know are the 2 cars running the same chassis ,and what main parts are interchangeable mainly need to know can i use the ke30 engine xmember into the ke55????are they the same xmember are the ke30 and ke55 gearbox tunnel the same???? are the rear leaf springs interchangable??? and lastly the front steering components ,are they the same,ie lower arms tierods etc this is a bit backwards to go forwards but i want to put a sr20 in the ke30 which is pretty ruff and unregistered,get it all set up in the ke30 ,mounts fue…

After fully engaging 5th gear, on the highway, after a few seconds it jumps back to neutral. Doesn't happen with any other gear, only 5th. Anyone know what it could be? Nothing in the car has changed. Any info would be appreciated.

HI all, As the title says, I have a 4agze, Its in a Ke55, I'm running a FMIC, Microtech ECU, and the Pulley is hooked up to a switch, via a relay and I have completed the ABV Mod. When the motor was out of the car, I played with the SC and it sucked and pushed air through. When I start the engine the Boost gauge runs at 20 In.Hg. When I flick the switch you can see the Clutch pop in, it spins faster BUT when you rev it, the gauge doesn't move. I've disconneded the Gauge and blown air through, and it shows pressure. The Silicone bends and clamps are new and tight. Any Ideas?? Thanks

hi guys i was getting my car ready too sell , i just added a 40doce Weber and a few other things, so my problem is i went to start her and it sounded weird and began to flood its self cut a long story short the timing chain pulley that attaches to the cam was lose and sheared the 10mm neck off the end of the cam and snapped the key way , my quire is while the car was running for a few short seconds will it have done damage to the valves and push-rods or anything else

Hey fellow mates. I was just wanting to ask a question about the braces under the bonnet and boot lid and how the adhesive the factory uses to fuse or glue the two together. It is like a hard porus crappy adhesive that had just crumbled away. I want to know if I could you sikaflex or something to make a new join between the two ( Brace and Boot lid etc ) and if that would be good enough for years and years? Or what you have used and what you recommend.

I was putting a new carby on my 4k and i dropped a nut down the inlet manifold without realising so i started it and it seams to run fine so i don't think its done any damage i will pull off the manifold tomorrow and get it out luckily its too big to get past the valve it was running for about 10 minutes before i realsied i could hear it rattling in the inlet so i turned it off does any one think it would have caused any damage i don't really care its only a 4k but anyway?

Alright guys and girlies. I spoke to a random engineer though I think he might be a backyard one.. He claims that I would need a blue plate for my 1981 KE55 Hardtop if I put a 5k in it? I am 17 this year, and would rather 5k over my 4k anyday. Can anyone actually clear this up? Do I NEED a blue plate? I might give a few engineers and QLD transport a ring sooner or later again and hassle the shit out of them to actually see if I can get it without a mod plate.. I've also heard other Rollaclub members say that I don't have to, though I want a little few more suggestions.. So yes, Do I have to have a blue plate if I put a 5k into my KE55? …

hi I'm doing the old battery in the boot.. and what guage wire should be used?? would it be the same wire that is used to power your amp?? i think thats like 8g but not sure... any info would be great and anything else i might need to know about the relocation.. cheers cam

i read somewhere that the original carby on the 4k it has two butterflies and one opens when u push down the accelerator and the other opens at high speed if thats true is there a way to make that both open at the same time? would this mean that i would have more power at lower rpm thanks

in the process of getting me diff out of my KE30 Ive taken off the U bolts, and removed the lowering blocks it had. Ive then put some blocks under the diff centre, and lowered the body so the diff has come off the leafs. Now getting the leafs out, do i remove from the chassis at the read end, or do i remove from the spring? or it don't matter? Also I'm unsure of where or how to remove the brake lines? just wanna make sure I'm doing it right Cheers

RHS REAR LHS REAR Happen turning right in a carpark at 5kph, heard/felt a clunk come from the rear. Thought id snapped an axle as thats what it felt/sounded like. Pulled the axle out this morning but its in perfect conditon so ive got NFI what the problem is. There were no other obvious breaks/snaps anywhere in the rear end... Car still drives, but crabs something shocking (i only drove it down the driveway once off the tow truck).

Hi all, I have a 1980 ke55 auto, and am changing it to a ke55 5-speed manual. I started the conversion today but when I went to bolt in the 5-speed, the shifter and gearbox crossmember didn't line up. :lmao: So I am just wondering is it as simple as changing it to the ke70 5-speed extension housing which has the shifter in the further back position. This should hopefully line up the gearstick with the original selector hole, but do I need a ke70 5-speed rear crossmember, as I currently have a ke55 manual crossmember and it won't line up with the mounting holes in the floor. So I went to put in my 46.5mm welsh plug that I got from Sprints. Damn bastards gave me the wrong one, so I rang them and they said "nah we've never sold one that size" No kidding. Has anyone else had the same issues getting hold of a new one of these welsh plugs? Only Toyota can get one, they're not sure which is which so I just got them to order both back ones...... Now I have an unknown period to wait and it will hold up the engine install! I fly back to work monday so it'll be another 3 weeks before I get the damn car going....

Ok, I painted up a rocker cover for my 5k, and I pulled out the rubber grommet for my PCV valve and I destroyed it in the process. now I need another to go into it, but I can't seem to neatly remove the one from my other rocker cover. Any tips, or is there some alternative solution? New grommet (off the shelf) etc?

i got a set of falcon springs in ym garage i see on alot of peoples cars they have falcon springs in them my question is how do u cut them down yeh i know angle grinder but to get a decent height ie: not too low or high how many coils u cut off? cheers grant

I bought these SUs off Hitoroku, who bought them off someone else on here and never used them, so they are not 'bolt-on-&-go! One was partially dismantled, so I assume the guy HE bought them off never got them to go, and I'm willing to finally sort them out. They came bolted straight onto the Lynx manifold, and I've always seen plastic spacers in there. The LH picture is off a Datsun with its original plastic spacers, the middle one is off Rob's KE with metal spacers he made up, and the RH photo is of mine currently. I have jus bought an SC12 supercharger to go on my 4k and i was wondering what pulley everyone is using on the front of the supercharger? My plan is to use the aircon pulley on the front of the crank but i would like to know if there is a simple soultion to the pulley on the supercharger? Can i just use the pulley of a corolla aircon compressor or is something of another model ans easier fit? I'm recently having problems with my single carb on my 4k. I recently replaced the cam in the engine with a fast road cam and it was going fine. I got the idle tuned so it was just strugling to stay alive and the car was running fine. I then went and bought myself a 3k-b twin carb which i used to replace my single carb but with huge problems. 1 of the carbs jets wasnt working to i cleaned it out but still the car sounded horrible like it wasnt running on all 4 cylinders so i decided to go back to my single carb. I was driving home this morning and my engine (4a-F) started spluttering. I got home thinking it was one of the spark plugs but when i pulled them out i discovered water on one of them. I cranked it with all the plugs out and out burst water from the fourth cylinder ): This would mean my head gasket is stuffed. Or theres a crack. I'm realllly hoping its the first possibility. hey guys ive got my standard exhaust with a cannon on and it sounds a wonder i just love it -its got quite a bit of backfire -doesnt sound shit for a cannon actually sounds relly good and loud !! But ive ordered extractors and am going to get a 2" system with a sports exhaust MY QUESTION IS- will it still sound good?? i love the cannon and if the sports exhaust wont sound as good or good at all then I'm pulling out on the booking with muffler fit has anyone out there got extractors on the 4kc with a sports exhaust like what i want bcz I'm not sure if its going to be what i want??

Yo diggity... I pulled the headers off my porsche motor and noticed white deposits in most of the exhuast ports. There was also some buildup on the back of the valves. Take a look at the pics. Anyone have any idea what this might be? I've never seen it before, but i assume it's something to do with lean burning, similar to tuning by sparkplug colour. Just to add to this, Porsches were fitted with smog pumps that pumped fresh air into the exhaust ports for emissions. Burns off any unburnt mixture. If you look you can see a shiny new hex head plug where I've blocked off these ports. I've only just fitted these plugs, prior to that, the actual brass piping was st…

I've finally got my 5K running, done the timing, tuned it and it seems to be running totally fine but at 2 points in the revs it totally stops getting power so I get jerked forward in my seat. If I back off a bit I can keep accelleration I can rev higher then it does it again and I have to back off more. It's got a weber, I don't know what the specs are but the previous owner had it on the motor and said he rejetted it and everything and it runs fine at anything but hard accelleration. Also the sump is only just touching the crossmember, which makes the whole car vibrate and rattle. Is this normal? Should I try putting the 4K sump on instead?

so i bought a ke55 and it has no key that works the boot. i don't care if i damage the lock and can only get into it with a screwdriver or anything. just want to be able to use my boot. how have you guys gotten into the trunk with no key? cheers, dave.

hi probably a realy stupid question but urgently need an answer, i have a ke70 with a 4kc auto and i want to swap it into a ke55 that also has a 4kc but manual , I'm i right in asuming that i should be able to bolt the manual fly wheel to the auto engine and use the manual gear box?? please help as I'm in the middle of pulling it all apart,thanks guys ,
