From running around trying to find out about all sorts of plastics etc, I discovered 3M Scotchply. This is how it's described: And among the many example uses are: automotive springs, trailer springs, and even helicopter rotor blades!!! I have heard, however, that it's not cheap stuff. But I thought it looked interesting!

now someone probably already knew this, but i had to check it for myself. the box i tried it on was a 22re out of hilux/corona st141-2, bolts stright up, so the bell housing you want for this conversion is from a late townace with a 7KC or E. thanks to mr beerhead for making me get my ass into gear.

Hey guys, my names joel i am reasonbly new to this group, i drive a stock KE70 no mods cept for the stereo and some dodgy electronic bullshit that kept me busy on the weekends(prior to working non stop for schoolies savings). I was recently friggin around with the interior light whilst trying to put my alarm in and managned to short it out. Now i have no clock or interior light. I hav checked the fuse box under the steering wheel and on the battery with no luck and i couldn't be stuffed lookin anywhere else as i don't have any time. does anyone know hwere to look for a fusablelink/fuse that would blow in the event of a short on this circuit. The wiring diagram…

this is some of the stuff i'm finding as i fiddle around with the (2) 7k's i got recently. the best thing, (i haven't seen anyone post about this yet). they have a fully counter balanced crank. TRD k cranks were romured to be fully counter balanced, but i've never seen one. the conrods are 7afe and with a pressed 20mm pin. the oil pump pick up is steel,(good uprite engines where you have to change the pick up) the combustion chamber has been opened up and the ports have a better shape. the sump is deeper, but not by much. i'll post more as i find it.

hey guys I did a search trying to find standard compression rates for a 4k (in PSI) but had no luck ... i did a test on my 4k - 125 was about average, highest 127 lowest 121. Is this low? I noticed someone on here had a 5K with 10.1 compression and managed 225 average ... :P Cheers, Dyzza

hi, my motor suddenly developed a noise. It seems to be coming from the valve gear. it starts to rattle around 3500rpm. Could it be the valves need clearance checked? Any ideas?? last time it happened I topped up the oil and it went away but not this time. cheers, Jon

Hi all, I picked up a ram pod filter the other day and have been pondering how I'm going to squeeze it in to the engine bay. It's a fair sized piece of kit and I don't want it sucking in hot air from under the bonnet, was thinking I might have to run it up from the turbo and out the top of the bonnet and run a small scoop over the top for CAI. Only problem is it's a bit of a sleeper so any scoop would have to be a subtle/low profile design, tho most people would probably think I'm just a retard (read: ricer) with a scoop on a shit box rolla  If the foam filter element is just proud of the bonnet basically inside the scoop is water (rain) going to be a problem…

Well, last night I ran out of fuel about 100metres away from a mates place, so I went to see him to see if he had any spare jerry cans of fuel laying around. Anyway, he gave me a little can and said that it was regular unleaded. Under the assumption that it was, I put about 3 litres of it into the tank which was all i needed to get to the servo. Unfortunatley I realised as soon as the car started that it wasnt just regular unleaded, so I said to him "You sure this is Unleaded?" to which he replied, "Oh wait, I think that is the 2stroke premix for the wipper-snipper...." :y: . I managed to get to the servo where I put about 10L of unleaded into the car, hoping that it woul…

Me and a friend recently bought a 4 door KE70. have been reading this forum and its fkn awesome, probably the most informative car forum on the net to date. :) well anyways down to buisness. The Car is in pretty good condition, and today we decided to give it a service. changed battery, most fluids, filters, battery and so on.. white smoke has been emitting from where the sparkplugs go in, like enough to make concern. we suspect that its either: -worn sparkplugs -head gasket about to depart -engine running too lean (checked carby and its set ok) -or that the engine is simply getting old, and a possibility of oil mixing with petrol and burning off whitish smok…

Just before we start, know that I know ZERO about carbies....Now my new 5K in my wagon came with a weber off an XF, I assume it's off an XF as it has "XF" written on the automatic choke on the back. Anyways, it was running perfectly, and then the car refused to idle...I checked the manifold...bolts were loose, so tightened them, and it helped but didn't fix it completely, so I replaced the manifold gasket, and it still wouldn't idle...so we moved onto the carby... This is what I have tried...swapping 2 and 3 plug leads to make it backfire out the carby, seems to help a small amount but could be my imagination. Tried revving engine up and covering carby to attempt…

Hi there folks, Took possesion of my new set of twin sidedraft Dellortos yestersday and I'm pretty excited about bolting them up to my project motor. I just need to go shopping for some extractors now, and I wanted to clarify some issues (I've been digging but its still a tad vague): 1) Extractors and Twin Sidedraft manifold clashes: Apparently the manifolds clash and will require machining off the 3cyl runner? Is this common to all extractor brands or just certain ones? Does anyone have any pics they could circle bits etc so I can get a better idea? 2) KE1x Extractors different from other cars: From what I can tell, KE1x extractors are different from later …

Hi, Well after not having enough cash to go out on the town tonight and being tired I decided to experiment at home :fuzz: I made this: I decided to get some acid and clean some alloy rolla parts. After this I got more acid and anodized them at home :bash: The one on the left is made darker on purpose the one on the right is 100% all over anodized but I made that one a light pink so it was more of a tint than anything. I just think they look awesome and was just letting everyone know if they want they can be successfully anodized at home on the cheap. You can also do all other parts of the motor that are alloy. Fuel pump, spark plug tubes, cooling compo…

i've just picked myself up 2 gearboxes kinda cheap. one is a t50 from a TA22 (i believe) and the other is from a corolla (apparantly) here's the photo's of them that should help ID them The bottom one here is the t50 The left one here is the T50 i am very unconvinced that the unknown one is from a corolla, as the centre shaft is quite larger than the one on my k40 and the t50, as well as the clutch fork being on the opposite side of the bellhousing. all help is appreciated. dF

Hi guys, I was at just wrecking Toyota's at Wingfield in Adelaide today and just asked the question about 7K motors. They said they are readily available complete with wiring loom etc for $750. Correct me if I'm wrong but that seems quite reasonable? Anyway I'm just putting it out there for everyone - hope this is helpful to someone. Question regarding KE70 tacho dash... I found 2 nice low kilometre ones with digital clocks in auto KE70's at U-Pull-It in Elizabeth (they have a dozen KE70's and AE71's). Will a tacho dash with digital clock from an auto KE70 go straight into my manual KE70 with it's big ugly clock? Are the tacho wires (and power fo…

It appears that there is f@$k all decent 'sporty' shocks available for the KE70 struts. With most companies offering OEM replacements or nothing. So for those that haven't changed over to sprinter/corona/T18 struts. What shocks have you put in the front of your KE70? So far I've only found these companies to supply shocks to suit: Gabriel Monroe ACDelco Pedders Currently thinking either of the first three and f@$k pedders off.
