Hey rollaclubbers. I have acquired an auto ke20, but I want to convert to manual at some stage. I have a ke70 manual gearbox and xmember if I can use them? Or is it a lot easier just sourcing ke20 manual parts, and the same for pedal box? Cheers in advance

Okay so i finally got my 18rgu today and throughout the whole day my dad has been complaining about how much i got it for. i bought it off a friend of dads, he was originaly asking for $1000 but dad hassled him down to $800. i was originaly thinking i was payin $1000 just for the engine plus the twin dellortos on it plus the extractors but when i went to pick it up the guy was like "what you see is what you get" and sitting with the engine was a radiator to suit the engine, an electronic fuel pump, and altinator, this fuel preasure regulator thing, and a msd motorcycle idnition thing. now my question is, was all of this worth $800 or not? and also, what does this msd ign…

Hi all. This has probably been discussed to death before but i can't find. Restoring a KE25 n am deciding what to do engine wise... I have an AE82 sitting my driveway awaiting some TLC however i have been thinking about ripping the engine out and putting it in the 25.. I have had a read in the faq bit and it seems pretty straightforward as far as converting the engine goes. Just wondering if anyone has done this and weather there are any performance issues when this conversion is done. All info small or detailed would be appreciated. Cheers. Glen

Hi Everyone, I'm currently working on my AE94 Sedan its pretty much an AE92..i don't know why it's called the AE94.. anyway, i have searched tirelessly..but can never find a definitive answer, so I'm hoping this thread will cover it.. 1. What gearbox from factory came into the AE92 SX GTi? 2. For the AE92, thicker swaybars in the back = better handling?? (i want to go whiteline 24mm in the back and 22mm in the front) 3. Who on the forums have done an AE92 4AGE 20V Swap? i have queries regarding the loom in terms of connecting Speedo, fuel pump, everything really.. (my frontcut donor is an AE101 4AGE 20V Silvertop) thanking you all!!

Hi all.. Well nearly sorted the 5k back together but tonight had a look to see while i had everything apart to maybe port the intake , match bla bla etc.. Its a 5k, 5k head, extractors are 4-2-1 ( dnt know brand) gasket is a Toyota product.. that metal one. (can get code if helps) I put the gasket onto the extractors to see how they line up and was surprised to see that the gasket ports were much smaller then the size of the actual extractor ports.. As an estimate like 2mm on each side. So not like the intake where I will probably need to take 2mm at the bottom but all round. The gasket lines up resonably well with the head ports and the intake ports... sooo I'…

Hi, Have been having trouble with my girlfriends ra40 stalling. It's an automatic and at first the problem started happening in gear when stopped, so I thought brake master cylinder, vacuums or torque converter. But checked all the vacuum lines and they seem fine, replaced o ring on master cylinder so that's not leaking or anything. But now its started stalling in neutral too, it's not idling at all anymore. Thinking carby or something could be the problem but not sure. Just after any tips. Cheers, Jake

Hi I'm Ben and I'm here because I'm a Corolla-holic. Recently I bought a KE35 Hardtop from Ipswich spare parts. What Ive done sofar is put an engine and gearbox in and got some Cheviot wheels. Everything went well until I tried to put the wheels on the back (the fitted on the front). I measured the rear stud pattern and found that it is 4x110 (what the ke1x/2x rollas had I think). It has a borg-warner diff. I want to use my wheels (at least eventually) and get my car on the road soon. I was thinking that I would get the roadworthy on 4x110 steelies if I can find any, and then do something about the stud pattern. What are my options here? stud pattern adaptors? ke30 ax…

Hi, i'm just after some general advice on a 4k engine and where to go for some mechanical work to be done on the motor - the reason i'm asking is; The engine blows quite abit of blue smoke which indicates to my novice mind that the rings are possibly gone/going/cracked, also there is quite a substantial amount of blowby in the carby. The motor has done 300000 odd k's and I am quite suprised it's still running. So what I am after is the best place to either get these checked, and depending on the outcome, fixed. At the same time Id like to obtain a weber3236, a 25/65 cam, heavy duty springs and to also run 0.400" valve lift. I would like this to be all in the brisbane …

Hi, I own a 1980 Toyota Corona xt130 wagon (xt131?). It has 108000 kms on the clock and is running of a crappy 1.9L Holden Starfire engine. It was my first car and I didn't know what a nightmare the engine would be. Anyway, recently I have been having some issues with it. While driving the car will sometimes randomly start jolting pretty violently and to stop it I apply the clutch. In extreme cases it will continue as i slow and change down gears until it eventually stalls. After letting it sit for a while it usually works fine. The first times this happened it was going up hill at medium speeds (60 & 80 km/h) but now it has happened on straights after a while of…

Sup. I have been blessed with an almost rust free shell, my engine bay managed to soak up all the rust... I have been attempting to start the repairs my cleaning out my cooling system however, shortly after I changed over my radiator it sprung a leak. All my hoses and everything aren't leaking and it's a bit of a bugger to trace back. I'll bang up some photos and if you could give me a hand identifying/tracing back the leak. Having no actual cooling problems while driving, engine is still strong and stays cool. It's dumping a considerable amount of water/coolant even though it's just a consistent drip. There is no leak when the car is off, only when th…

  21. Hey guys, I bought a diff off one of the guys who was parting a car out on here a few months back now ( can't remember his username).. When I went to pick the diff up I was told by the guy I bought it off that he had removed it from the ke70 sedan which he was parting out...on pickup though I realised the diff had disc brakes on it....( to my knowledge no ke70 came out with disc brakes). So my question is, is there anyway to identify what the diff is out off as I want to buy new brake calipers for it to rebuild them as the cradle from one of the calipers is missing.. It's a Borg Warner diff with disc brakes, there is only one number on it it is 0570-02690…

Read this right through so you know you have the tools to do it before you start! Bits of pipe, grease gun, a solid hammer....! This is a straightforward job, well technically straightforward and simpler than changing a distributor, but it does need some mechanical hammer work! A side takes about 1-1.5hrs without hurrying. I did one a day, no rush. First, buy two to these. Mine were for my Corona LCAs, I don't know if the KE70 etc are identical, but this part number fits Corona, Celica, & KE Corollas in theory. Get organised- I have a floodlight, several square of carpet to sit on, and I keep the tool box nearby. I get out the tool I want, use it, then p…

Hey, I have a stock 3K in my KE35, last tuesday it was running fine, like clockwork. But then I gave her 4 days off. And now I can't get her going again. I have checked everything I can think of; I have a good spark, excelent compression on all cylinders, and fuel is getting through (even tried starting it on some of that easy start spray). The only other thing I can think of is that the timing has gone out. (can that happen when its not running though?) Any help would be very much aperciated. Thanks.

Hey guys, just needed some advice and knowledge from the world of the wise rolla guru's.. I just finished converting my 4k to Twin solex 40's and it runs... barely... now i know they will need a tune and balance and the engine still needs to be re timed. (to 8 degrees right?)... BUT the carbs were off a 2tc 1600cc and have a 32mm choke, unsure about rest of jets but going from the solex website jetting chart they should also be running a 140 for the main jet. I'm fairly certain this is the smallest size jet you can go for solex's but really, I'm just after some advice experience and knowledge about what i should be doing once timed, balanced and tuned.. thankyou guys…

Are those ''octane booster'' fuel additives safe to use ? Do the manganese deposits from the MMT in them gum up the carburettor and foul the plugs, as described here ? http://users.imag.net/~lon.trea/TREATalk/Article04.htm Sure enough, on taking out the plugs, the insulator tips have turned yellowish. And I am adding in only half of that suggested on the bottle, or just half a bottle every 60 liters. The petrol in Malaysia is currently of questionable quality. Quoted as 95 octane, but performance is sluggish, engine knocks easliy, and tends to run on after switching off. My mechanic agrees, saying that this current petrol is actually of w…

Hi guys, Been a member for a while and have finally purchased a 1971 ke11 corolla. At the moment its original and was sitting around in a shed for about 5years. I'm planning a 7k conversion and wanted to upgrade the front brakes from drums to discs. Ive read that the simplist will be a ke20 front brake setup. I believe they also have the same stud pattern which will enable me to keep the 12inch wheels and chrome dress rims. Can anyone help as to what I will need exactly? and if someone has bits and pieces for sale. Would like to eventually lower the front and rear. Cheers
