Hey guys, I am after some help with working out "wtf" is going wrong with my carbie. Have a 32/36 DGAV Weber on the 4K since the Aisan one shit itself. All was working fine with it over 2 months or so, but now something is wrong and I am unsure of what it is. The car will not rev at a steady level. If you try to hold the revs at a constant mark, the engine drops in revs then kinda splutters back up then drops again. The same goes for the idle. It barely idles, and when you adjust the mixture screw, it does hardley anything. The screw can be the whole way out and the engine still runs like it was halfway in. When you try to increase the idle speed, the engie just picks…

came across this test on the motec site.. might be of interest. http://www.motec.com.au/fueltest/index.htm I've been using V-Power racing in the 4agze for a couple of months now and it loves it. used to ping off it's head, now it's great, smoother and more get up and go. could even dial in a couple of extra degrees of timing.

With the power upgrades occuring to the corona, something has to be done about the suspension, which was to say rubbish. Since I don't have a front subframe at the moment I started with the rear suspension. To my pleasent suprise RT40 coronas have 5 rear leaves (corolla's only have 4,) thus the the decision was quickley made to invert and clamp the bottom 3 leaves on top. This has the effect of flattening out the leaf stack (lowring the car) and making the stack much, much stiffer. Results are as follows: vs the new: Installed the difference is obvious, it also became apparent that the diff has now moved backwards 2cm or so. I'm yet to finish the seco…

I was changing the brake pads on the 30 today and broke a locating wire inside the caliper, so off to the wreckers i go. the guy said ther was a ke30 out in the yard so off i went. Went to get the part i needed....DIFFERENT!. I know this is very ignorant of me as i can recall reading several threads on how they were different but i simply never took any notice. Now, as i have a ke10 that needs disc brakes i will put the ke30 ones on it, but are the 55 ones a direct bolt in affair for a ke30?. they look like they are, the only thing that may be different is the brake hoses. Any help would be appreciated. (p.s. sorry to ramble on :P )

Hi, Just yesterday I got a full fairly new exhaust system for my KE15. All the system fits APART from the exhaust mani that bolts to the head. After stripping it back today to bare metal and painting it I noticed the heat exchanger box on the KE10 mani has the 2 bolts towards the cylinder head and the single bolt towards the wheel side of the car. And this manifold is off AE70's KE10 so it is an original manifold. So did some early KE1X manifolds have the heat exchanger box bolt pattern backwards? As Most normal corolla K exhaust manifolds have the single bolt on the cyclinder head side and the 2 other bolts on the wheel side. So in effect the bolt pattern is …

I'm chucking a 4AGE on carbies (because carbie are Sik  and sound awsome :hmm: ) into a rather clean RT40 corona. Mounts are sorted, carbie linkages are sorted, exhaust is sorted, cooling is sorted, fuel is sorted, clutch is sorted (RT40's have hydro clutch from the factory :y: ) However ignition isn't sorted. I've heard rumors that you can use a 4AC dizzy, with a sleeve and all's good? is this possible, do you need anything else, an ignightor for example. Has anybody got ignition kits for carbie engines? Others have suggested a Sigma Dizzy? is anything else required? need asleeve or mounting plate? the only other thread I found was back in Feb ad didn't re…

Gday all, I've got two rooted KE70 seats that have had their share of broken-ness for quite a while. That, and I hardly fit in the damn car. What seats and rails would allow me to sit further back, lower, and would keep me in the seat apart from a racing seat (not ready for that yet)? it's a budgo job, so anything too expensive will not be considered - period. start throwing money at unnecessary stuff, the fun goes away pretty quick now doesn't it? Thanks guys.

Well, last night I ran out of fuel about 100metres away from a mates place, so I went to see him to see if he had any spare jerry cans of fuel laying around. Anyway, he gave me a little can and said that it was regular unleaded. Under the assumption that it was, I put about 3 litres of it into the tank which was all i needed to get to the servo. Unfortunatley I realised as soon as the car started that it wasnt just regular unleaded, so I said to him "You sure this is Unleaded?" to which he replied, "Oh wait, I think that is the 2stroke premix for the wipper-snipper...." :y: . I managed to get to the servo where I put about 10L of unleaded into the car, hoping that it woul…

Hello. Just curious as to any radiators people have used to replace and upgrade the standard item in their AE71/KE70 4age project. Ill need one before the heat of summer kicks in. I'm looking for something about 410mm high, by 550mm wide, with both hose connections on the drivers side. So far my best option is looking like a rebuild of a standard one, to include 3 cores. This costs in the vacinity of 500 dollars, so Id rather find something potentially better and cheaper. I don't mind fabricating any mounts to make it fit. don't be shy now.

Gaday, I was wondering if it is possible to put the four-spoke Celica/Hiace wheels on a Ke30. I have some and have tried to put them on my car, but they hit on the brake caliper. I had given up, but I was looking on rollaclub and found a few ke's with them on, so I'm wondering if it is possible. cheers

hey guys i have a 1989 model toyota corolla seca AE82 liftback . i was givin the option of using my money to put rims or lower it with king springs on super lows dropping it 50 mm and putting a strut bar . so it will make the ride more more responsive and tight in turning. i have bought my suspesion and instailed it . however i don't know whether i should buy a after market strut bar or weather to get one from a rolla that would fit my one. does any one know if any models of the rolla came with the strut bar or would i have to buy a aftermarket one? thank you niran

Hi, As the title says I found out last night reading my KE1X aircon manual. If the KE1X car was fitted with factory aircon they also installed a factory electric fuel pump in the boot. So for some reason on the KE1X with aircon they ditched the diaphragm pump and used an electric one in the boot. Below is 2 scans of the manual showing the fuel pump exploded view and the number and part list page showing how the number matches up from the exploded view to fuel pump. Also notice above on the fuel pump exploded view page the image outline of the motor showing how the fuel line goes to a bracket and on that there is a regulator mounted and then it goes to the…

hi does anyone know of an exhaust manifold ( not extractors) for a 4kc motor that has twin outlets, the ke70 i have has a cast iron exhaust manifold that has a single pipe outlet, i would like a twin outlet. the motor and 5 speed gearbox slightly warmed is going into a Honda S600 roadster, also using the corolla rearend but narrowed, i'm using twin 1.5 inch su carbys. i don't want to run extractors unless there is no other option, if i could get a twin outlet cast iron manifold that would hopfully free it up enough. any thoughts?????? regards Ewen

Hi there, Looking at getting into some cheap motors to learn off. Firstly, Ive tried searching, but I can't find out much about the differences between the 4AC and 4AF blocks. From what Ive read, it is possible to bolt on the 4AGE head onto a 4AC block, but what about a 4AF. The reason for asking is that my workshop manual (Toyota 4AF 4AGE Repair Manual) only covers the 4AF model. Are the blocks the same? I would hate to torque up the bolts to the wrong specifications etc etc. Secondly, are the mounts similar/the same as the 4AGE mounts? Mates have a broken Corolla with a dead 4AGE, can I drop the 4AC/4AF and test it out? (Ignoring road rules for the moment) …
