Hey guys, The other day i had to find a way to repair broken dizzy wiring on a 4age so i just cut the wiring down and repinned it, I did the same thing to my car today when i made the wiring harness so i thought id do a step by step guide for the FAQ. Just a quick one. There is a plug coming off the starter motor thats green and has 2 wires attached to it. Now I'm guessing this plug is to actually start the car with the key? one wire is Red, and the other one is Black with a white strip. the red one has broken off inside the loom somewhere and i can not find where it goes. Now I'm sure that the black one is Earth, and the red one is power for the key when its turned to "start" ? if so where can i attach this broken wire? obviously not to a continuous power source, nor one for accessories.. :wink:

ok 4ag into ke30/55 few questions. wiring the two together. obviously you need to wire your ignition switch into it. give the ecu constant power. question is though. how to wire the fuel pumps? do they got o the ecu? or to the body loom? same with the starter motor? also is there a control module that controls the idle when headlights etc come one? in the body loom? because i would like to wire this into the ecu. please help. been going absolutely crosseyed looking at these diagrams! Littleredspirit? or chris gt? you guys help?

has anyone here got a wiring diagram for a '75 ke35? engine bay and cabin would be cool specifically looking for where these wires go to :P and why they are in a loop :dance: sorry for the poor quality

hey I'm just wondering if anyone here is an install guru and can tell me what these wires are for. does the power for the siren come straight from a 12v source? thats what I'm thinking, its the battery back up siren. and I'm not too sure what to wire the other 2 up to.

as said above how do i re wire them both so i can get my car running again

Guys I'm not sure if I will have a problem or not, but from some discussion with the Auto Instruments repair guy, he reckons that old tacho dashes (KE10-11-16-18) will have trouble showing accurate readings on cars fitted with a later model Electronic dizzy. I've done quite a bit of googling but haven't found much more info on it. I figure that a few of you doing tach dash swaps must surely have encountered this issue. Any idea what circuitry and goodies I might need to get it working correct? I've found a couple of bits and pieces of reading but I'd like to hear what others have come across.

I am running a 20 Valve in an AE71 with a Microtech LT10S with the X4 Igniter Box All runs ok, except it will not work with the factory tacho dash. The tacho worked perfectly before the Microtech was installed. There is some suggestion by the person who installed the ECU that my tacho is stuffed but I will have to check to rule this out. Has anyone had this problem before and what was the workaround?? Is it possible to have the factory tacho working? I have the Microtech Dash Display which has tacho function so not overly fussed but I like when things "just work". Also, any tips on where to take it in SA to get it looked at? Thanks Luke

hey just got a quick question, but 1st the car isn't a rolla. i'm changing my vl from manual to auto, and i don't wanna stuff around with swapping over the auto control ecu. i was just wondering is there a way i could wire up the park neutral switch so that the car wont start unless its in park or nuetral? cause i will be leaving the manual ecu in the car. and i'm pretty sure on this part, with the manual ecu it will just mean that i will have to select all gears manually yes? hopefully someone on here can help me out as no one on ct will answer me =[. Hey guys ive come across a problem... i have no dash lights whhich have just recently gone out completely, previously they only went out wen the left indicator was on and they would flick off... so none of the dash lights work but the gauges still work perfect! ive check all the fuses and they look fine to what i can see! Now i also have no tail lights but have break light and headlights! the globes are fine and same with the fuses If anyone can help with the problem that would be greatly appreciated Tom

The KE has absolutely crap lights by the time they are 20 years old, so I decided to reverse the power flow and fit relays, just like I used to do on the Datsun 1600s. The results were better than I ever expected, showing that the column switch is definately a drag on the stock system. Probably similar for all the earlier KE models too.

hey guys, i am currently running a locked 5k electronic dizzy with internal ignitor on my heavly worked 5k. now the problem i have is with the cam i have in it(unknown specs but very lumpy) and the fact that the dizzy is locked and has either no or full advance(diaphram?? has also been removed from dizzy body so can't just hook vacumm hose back up) it either dosnt want to idle at all or idles to high at about 1800 rpm :y: . now i have thought that to to help fix this id throw a points dizzy back in(standard 4k-c jobby), i did that it idled better but the electronic coil didnt like the points didnt last too long. now this begs the question: can you swap al…

Hey guys. Few of you might remember the coil igniter problem I was having a while ago. Well thats sorted. ATM, its idles, but barely wants to rev. Coughs, and farts doing it. I unplug the MAP sensor vacuum line and it revs a little better then it does plugged in, but still coughing. Also, unplugging one of the injectors yeilds no difference in idle. It also apears to be getting hot, pretty quickly. Please help. This is driving my brother and I nuts.

Hi, Found this KE1X original radio for sale: But it is in Japan. It is AM not FM and you can see the frequencies on the face plate. Are these the same frequencies as australian radios? If I buy it will it work here? Cheers Cameron

hello! i need some help wiring up an ae92 taco cluster to my ae95 non taco cluster. i've also got the cluster up for sale in the parts for sale section if i can't get the wiring right anyone got a pin payout for the ae92 taco cluster or the non taco cluster (I'm hoping they are the same as the one in my ae95)

ok ive had the ke20 for nearly 2months. yesterday i found out that this car is running a 3tgte toyota engine, with a HOLDEN camira computer. has anyone done this? has it been heard of? and what problems can it face? at the moment its running wayyyyyyyyyy too rich, $30 petty gets only 100k's thats with driving it like a baby also another thing i noticed, the 8 spark plugs are running off one ignition coil. can it keep up? and in the middle of the dizzy cap theres a spark plug cable instead of a coil one ??? am i only running 7 sparks? it does have a large cut out. some1 give me a few pointers.

Hey guys I think ive wired it up right but its not cranking over? ok information, I have the neutral going to the front left strut tower on of the three bolts as my battery neutral, and i have 2 wires running to the starter motor the big thick one. The trigger wire which i believe to be a positive trigger switch i put on the positive to the battery which i believe should make it crank? Is there anything else i am missing like a ground for the Starter i figured it should be sweet because its bolted to the bell housing or is the trigger neutral but it show's in the picture in the knowlege base in this section the trigger to be positive http://www.rollaclub.com/faq/…

Hey guys, I degreased my engine yesterday and afterwards it wouldn't start. So I let it dry out, then ran the battery almost flat trying to start it. Hooked up the Falcon and it cranked over pretty much straight away. Took it for a thrash to charge it up, this has always worked fine. This morning, it didn't want to start again, jumper cables again and away I went. Stopped for 2 minutes to pump up tyres and it almost wouldn't start again. Before I buy a new battery or pull the alternator etc I noticed this loose wire off the back of the alternator. Is this my problem? Thinking I may have dislodged it when degreasing. Cheers gu…

So the trailer type I'm looking at getting comes only with electric brakes so I'd need to fit a controller to the Hilux. What are people using or recommend? Trailers gross weight goes up to ~2500kg. Good fitters in Brisbane that aren't going to molest my interior or electrics while taking an arm and half a leg? I know all types of trailer brakes have their good and bad points. I'm almost forced to use electrics because I need breakaway brakes so I can tow broken landbarge GTR's around. Its also handy that you need to have a controller so people can't mooch my trailer :P (Instead they'll mooch my trailer AND my tow car :() Looking at towing long distance as well…

so I've bought myself a liteace running a 4k motor. I'm decking it out like a camper atm (a small camper) and taking it on a trip. i want to be able to charge my laptop, and possibly some other small appliances, so i thought id get an inverter to run off the 12v system. what i need to know is, will the little 4k alternator put out enough juice for this? if not, do i upgrade the alternator and to what? or do i run duel batteries? thankyou

I put the ke70 back together after months of neglect and a few little electrical problems have come up. When I put the brake on, the indicator lights are coming on, and the brake lights doing nothing, I've fiddled around a bit with connections, but no luck. Any ideas anyone? Also whenever I put the car into reverse, the dash shorts out, and the fuse has to be replaced. I don't have even the slightest clue what could be causing this.

Hey all, (I really do not know where to post this) My little old bomb is starting to add up in price and I have been thinking of some type of alarm system for it before it goes out into the big bad world. I had a search but nothing came up for a “GPS tracker/ car alarm and I was just wondering some of the pros and cons of some of the brands out there on the market. I have not done any research into this myself yet but I’d like to hear from what you have experienced or heard . I have been told that some of the more upper market alarm systems have a sim card in them and they will text you if the current state of the car is changed. Thanks for your feedback.

I know there is a few threads on this but none seem to be the same as the issues I'm having. So every light in the entire car(this includes parkers) works but the headlights. none of the wires coming of the stalk are broken which seems to be the common issue. I've tried swapping the relay with others that I know work. There is no blown fuses. The problem started after my 4age conversion. I did unbolt all the wires and stuff from the drivers side guard( wiper motor and etc) Are any of the headlight components? Earth or something?

I've recently acquired a European zenki TE72 GT instrument cluster. I'm hoping to figure out the wiring so I can properly get it installed in my 1983 AE71... I have the US wiring book - it shows the wires going to each specific pin on the plugs. I'm looking for this same section for the 1980 TE72

Up to my ass in wiring s@it atm.(4agc to ke55) Replacing the fuseable link because it become very hot the other day ,my thoughts are that the 4a alternaters have a lot more out put than the standard 4k alts. stop lamps aren't working in my KE70! i've checked all 3 fuse boxes and the bulbs are fine. Would anyone know what coudl be wrong? Reversing lamps don't work either but i'm assuming thats not related... would anyone be able to point me in the right direction?

Where in the engine bay should i tap off the current for the fan? Now it should work when i turn on the ignition. I have a relay but i just want to know where i can tap the current so the fan can come on when the ignition comes on... Plz show a pictuer.. I tryed to hook it up to my coil and when i arriveed home from the test drive and turned on the ignition back on the fan wouldnt come one then as soona as i taped the relay it started to work.. So tomoro iam going to buy another relay but i want to make sure i don't burn that one too..

just wondering if anyone has had the same problemas i do! i have a ae71 84 spirit corolla and a couple of days ago i noticed that when braking the lights on my speed and tacho come on but very faint, i havent had a look yet but wondering if anyone has had this problem before as i think its a short somewhere and i am going to have a look on the weekend at this problem. just want some idea in what it is or if anyone has had this problem before me so i can work out whats going on, also when this happens my parkers only come on not my full headlight if anyone has any ideas would be much appriciated. thanks

Ok, so yesterday I was driving to a mates place, I get to his street turn the corner, and the starter starts cranking over. For fear of burning out the motor, I pulled over, and killed the power. The starter didn't stop. So I disconnected the battery, and went to see my mate. He is a Diesel Mechanic, and had a spare solenoid which we wired in, all seemed to be ok. Fast forward to evening. I start my car, and same deal the starter refuses to stop, This time I notice that the solenoid switch is rapidly switching on and off. So my Question is, Could we possibly have used an incorrect solenoid? Or is there another Fault here?

Hey peoples, Not so much a Rolla question, as an old school Toyota question. Yesterday the brake warning light on my 1980 Hilux came on and hasn't turned off. Now I've got a pretty big bullbar on the front which I can use for braking, but I'm not sure the cars in front would appreciate that. Anyone got an idea of what my car is trying to tell me? Hey Guys, Kind of a noob question (sorry) :S I just realised that my 1971 KE25 has no lights when I put it in reverse, I just wanted to confirm if the old KE25 actually had reverse lights from factory?? I have to take it for cert next week and just need to sort out all the little things to make sure it passes. The old 4 speed box has been replaced with a 5 speed to match up to a 4k, so I believe from research that it must now have a K50 gearbox? If the car does come with factory reverse lights does it mean that the signal line hasn't been connected when the gearbox has been replaced? How simple is this to hookup? Any info/help appreciated! Hey all Just wondering if there is more then one type of KE30 wiring loom? just asking because i have had to replace the one that was in my car as it was cut for a 4AGE. Ive got a standard now and am in the mits of putting it in. I searched and read for while, and am wondering what is the difference in the internal and external alternators? and is the loom the same? Also my car has been fitted with a KE55 dash, will this cause problems? Any info will be great, will keep searching, but more help the better Regards

Hi.... I've been playing with this thing for the last few days and can't work it out. The car is missing the front blinkers/parker's but I don't now if there needed to complete the circuit? D/S blinkers work (rear & side) P/S rear blinker works (side blinker not working) Number plate lights not working at all Head lights, tail lights and brake lights work, but when the head lights are on the P/S blinker comes on and stays on (rear only) Just wondering if there's a common fault/easy fix, or just something I should be checking. i was wiring up my new number plate lamp worked fine and then i went to test it for a final go and my headlights turned on but my parkers, lights around guages,redlight that turns on with head lights at tail all didnt work and neither did number plate light!!! please help i need them on urgently. cheers i havee checked fuses they look alright, i can't find any that say tail or have any relevance to what has turned off. which ones should i check and where?

hey guys, Dregs here my old '83 slant face ke70 is having some electrical problems. i recently got a tacho that i'm building into the dash where the old radio was (did this instead of getting tacho dash as i like the clock) and i was testing the tacho by just putting it on the radiator and connecting the signal wire to the coil, power to the positive battery terminal, earth to the negative and firing the car up.
