  1. I recently changed the cvs on my ae92 as it was knocking very badly. Now after a month the knocking came back only when I turn right and got foot off clutch, then as soon as I put my foot on the clutch the knocking dissapears again. Is it time to change the bearings as well is this what may cause the noise? Any Info would be apreciated.

  5. hey guys well my diff plug on my borg-warner (from ke55) must be cross-threaded coz it freespins when you try and undo it to top up the diff oil ... i guess my only option is the change the backing plate over to one where the diff plug isn't cross threaded ... is there any nacks with a corolla diff in changing this plate over? I just don't wanna start it and drain what oil is left in the diff, and find something out afterwards and not have the car on the road ... its dropped a bit of oil out of the diff, and i wanna top it up ASAP but can't ... grr Thanks for you help, dyzza

Right, as some of you know, I'm changing my diff. I was a bit slack today, the moment I got home I just crashed, was SO DARN TIRED, had to just about live on Red Bull for the drive home.... Anyway, eventually woke up and started actually doing some work on the car (note to self, washing car at night with no lights, you tend to miss lots of spots, and the bottom of the car and wheel arches are still covered in mud). Diff is almost out, all I have to do is unbolt the rear shackles and it should just fall out. Anyway - question. The T-series diff has a larger diameter housing, 65mm in fact. The U-series diff has a smaller housing, 57mm. Obviously this is a …

The 114 theres heaps of variety so the equiry is as i use an newer say ke55 for the front wheels just change the front discs. The issue with the rear drums? Do i get like a back axle off a 30 or 55 70 model and use that? woulod that work or be wider or is there simply an easy walkthrough or something? cheers Paul

  11. Hey all, in the process of (well trying to...) change shocks and springs in my KE70 front struts. Both struts are out of the car but I'm damned if I can even start to dismantle them. I can't crack the top nut under the dust cap. Trying to do so just turns the shock absorber. Is there a trick to stop the shock turning or is it more a case of using a rattle gun or some such? I'm sure the whole process is fairly simple I've just never done it before and gregory's is of very little help. Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Lend me your collective thoughts on what could be the problem, :) My Check engine light keeps coming on, sometimes it comes when you give it a stab, it'll cut power for a split second then the light comes on and most times it goes off again. Other times just driving up the highway the light will just come on and won't go off till you shut the car down. Timing belt was done at 109,000k's (now up around 140,00k's) Oil is fine Engine temp runs around 80*c average (splitfire gauge). Could this be poor tuning?? or a faulty sensor somewhere?? Now the radiator in the car is a bit tired and I gotta spare here I wanna clean up paint, add thermo fan to and get it all going. Then hopefully do a motor swap so I can have reliable slow fun again. But The spare radiator I have has been used a bit before (was not long recoed but and is still in top nick.) But the radiator has a heap just bits of gunk, small pebble looking things, general radator crap in it. I wanna give it the best clean out possible. How should I do this? often working on a 30-odd yearold car, you undo a bolt and the thread is all full of crap. i always worry about stripping threads out (god knows i've done enough of them), so i like to give them a clean and a spray with inox before putting the bolt back in cleaning the thread in the body or part isn't usually a problem, you can grind a bit lengthways out of a bolt and wind that in, cleaning all the crap out, or i've even gone to the massive several dollars expense of buying M6, M8 and M10 thread taps, which i just quickly wind in and out and get all the gunk out nicely bolts are another matter not really wanting to spend like 20 dollars each on the accompanyin…

After recently suffering a blown head gasket, after thermostat failed, (You may remember, wife got locked in the cupboard for a week for that indiscresion) I realised how much we all seem to neglect the essential old water system. Anyway, I've always put Toyota water conditioner in my 4KC, but the head job I just did on the engine demonstrated clearly how much scale etc. builds up in these things; which I suppose is to be expected when you consider the engines we are playing with, have been around for 20 odd years. Anyway it now has head reconditioned, new gaskets, new hoses, new cap, new thermostat, & I even recored the radiator, as the stress of the head bl…

Hey guys!! When i'm going to start up the car it tries to turn over once, very unenthusiastically, and then when olding the ignition on produces a steady clicking noise. All ive done today is take my carby off, retighten all the bolts to ensure there is no vacuum leak, and refit it. Once refitted the car ran fine....but now not at all!!... It's not like the clicking i heard when my Daihatsu charade starter motor went, bit slower.... Thanks for any help

Morning All Just need some help. I have a KE35 with a 4AGE 100KW, T50 gear box (bought it last year from Mikoolz, Sydney). I'm having troubles with the clutch. It has been converted to a hydraulic clutch and is relatively new, the old cable adjustment was just a clip on the cable at the firewall, but now I fear its a little more complex. I have had nearly no free travel at the top of the clutch now for a while and have been puting off fixing it, it has finally started to slip (only when accelerating hard when rolling) and I now have no free travel at all. I checked out the slave cylinder this morning and all seems good. My questions are: Does it sound like just a…

Hi Everyone, Well I've been trying to get this car up to scratch for a roadworthy and needed to change the gearbox in it because it simply needed changing. What my problem is now is the clutch doesn't seem to be fully disengaging when the clutch pedal is all the way down. When I try to put it into gear it is always hard to do so and reverse grinds horribly until it's "in" gear.. The strange thing is, when I let go of the pedal the friction point is around half-way through pedal movement rather than right at the floor. ALL of the gears are hard to push into gear. We've tried adjusting the clutch cable to give us maximum clutch disengagement but doesn't seem…
