I'm a bit worried about my KE70. I was driving it today on more or less no oil (I didn't know until I got home)... each time I'd brake or go slow in a high gear it would begin to stall. I filled it up with oil as soon as I got home but it still wants to stall... can anyone think of a reason for any of this? Also the brake lights have stopped working... I've recently put on Superlites that are bigger than the stock wheel so could this have something to do with the brakes? Should I get larger brakes to handle the size increase? Edit: fixed the brake lights they were both blown for some reason. Cheers.

Converting my "surge tank" setup on my 4age ke70 to intank to get it through Regency here in SA. Have got a VL intank pickup feeding to a VL external pump. Have mounted the intank pump and done a test run without the tank etc mounted, and it ran fine. different story when i mounted it though given the bends etc in the hoses, as it coughed and spluttered and stalled. Question is, where have you guys mounted your exteral pump? i want to stay away from tight curves etc obviously, so guessing the area around where the tank mounts up isnt realistic? Or is there somewhere i can put it in there? Thanks in advance.

Hey guys, As some will know I've just brought a small port dizzy instead of a big port unit for my 4agte. But I have been tood a couple of times now that the small port dizzy has 4 wires and the big port only 3, but my old dizzy has 4 wires as well. So how many different dizzy's are there, could it be a gze dizzy? Anyway, What I was thinking and I have been searching, was to use the small port dizzy as a CAS and run multiple coil packs. Just wondering whats involved/needed. I'm running an Autronic ecu so that shouldn't be a problem The dizzy has 24+1 teeth like below Any info, ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Dan

Hey guys just want to gather some info on a strut/brake upgrade for my '74 KE25. I have a TA22 diff to go in the rear so that is taken care of, I'm not really that fluent with suspension terms so please bare with me lol. Basically I wanna convert my KE25 to 114.3 stud pattern as I have some 14" meshies to go on it. Could anyone shed some light on this as I'm not really sure what the easiest/beneficial path to go down is. Could I convert the KE25 struts to 114.3? I have read that you can use TA22 struts? Could I use RA28 struts as I have a complete RA28 rolling Shell. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Tally

Hi guys, I'm having some trouble with getting some pushrods for a 5k. We bent two last season and have been chasing some replacements, unfortunatly with poor results. The local toyota parts department got us in what they called a 5k pushrod but it ended up being way too long compared to what we took out  . The ones we had in the engine measured 150.5mm from the tip to tip and 8mm in diameter and looked identical in design to the "new but too long" ones toyota gave me, so the ones from the engine where definatly a toyota looking item. I tracked down some crow cams ones which are bloody strong but may be causing some valve train problems :hmm: . I'd like …

I was reading a for sale ad on AE86DC, what caught my eye was that somebody said the RWD 4AC pump and rear housing were the same as the RWD 4AGE variety. Since I happen to have both I compared the 2 and yes they are almost exactly the same, the main difference I can see is that the bit which the cam cover seal is supposed to sit on is different between the 2. Obviously this means you can basically get a RWD water pump setup for your 4AGE of your old 4AC. The biggest snag I can see is the FWD top water outlet wont match up to the RWD water pump housing :no2: . Now I'm not sure if anybody has tried this before but I had an idea to fix the problem. I've taken a few pics on …

Folks, Dropped a 5k block and head down at the engine builders to get a "work list" for stuff to get done to it. Please have a look through and offer opinions on pricing, where I might save cash and if there are things I have missed (Camshaft for example isn't there) Prognosis is: Block needs a rebore. Here is the list of stuff he gave me: Block work: - $120 to Rebore to any size (probably 60 thou over because I can) - $40 to deck the block - $50 to remove camshaft bearings and hot-bath the block to clean it up - $40 for new cam bearings - $250 for new pistons and rings, size to suit bore etc. Block work total: $500 - ~$300 for the Head work inclu…

Hey guys.. Whenever I put my clutch down, it makes a stupid noise. It's not a grinding it's more of a high pitched squealing kind of noise. It doesn't affect the driving at all but it makes my car sound like it's come straight out of a cartoon... Also, I've got a whirring noise coming from my wheels or something... I'm not sure where it's coming from but I know it's under the car cause I can hear it past 50km/h. I've searched on the forums and found one post that suggested it could be a wheel bearing but I'm thinking it's the diff because something similar happened in my other ke70 and I changed the diff and it went.. but I'm not sure if it's the same thing? Any s…

Hi all just finished converting my 5k motor from twin down draught webers to twin 40dcoe webers on my ke20. Just want to know what most people do for air filter setup, due to lack of room. I have bought a pair of filter socks in the smallest size but they seem to be to long, i am thinking about cuttting them in half to fit without being squashed up. also what do people do to support the webers and manifold because of the weight of the carbies. All comments and pics would help. :hmm: Here are a couple of pics of my weber setup.

Still new to learning so try not to bite my head off a little lol. Alright I was thinking of a Holley 180 to go onto my 4K. I know it will need an adapter plate and have all that sorted. Though my father thinks that maybe an old Falcon XD? XF? Or something along there era might actually work good too. The weber was used on the 250 Cross-Flow engine that was in the cars. Does anyone know there CFM rate on there carby? I have searched a little on google and couldn't really find the right stuff. Cheers..

Hi, Been researching TRD K motor parts lately and was curious to see if any one had info or more pictures. Now the pic below is of the TRD dry sump kit for the K motor: Now as you can see the new TRD oil filter mount has a red fitting in the side that is rather large. I dare say this is oil in as another red fitting is in the sump its self which is prob oil to the tank or pump inlet. Now the red fitting in the new oil pick filter housing if this is oil in Id say TRD blocked the oil in hole in the block so oil will be pumped in then go into filter then around motor. Now question is.... In the K motor when the oil pump is removed would of TRD just …

I just aquired a 4K engine which is currently running a bit rough so i thought i would pull out the spark plugs for a look see When i unscrewed the plug, the sleeve/surround came out with it Is this normal? If not does it need to be fixed? How? And also, i want to get a good set of plugs to suit the engine specs as far as i know it has standard internals except for the cam, twin dellortos & extractors Any reccomendations for plugs would be appretiated Cheers - Andrew

I have recently purchased a 1974 ke20 and am looking to change the stud pattern... I am not knowledgeable about diffs, brakes and axels but hopely you guys can clear a few things up... Q.1 - If i were to get ke70 axels and brakes, will they slot straight into my existing diff? Q.2 - (don't judge me) - but rear ke70 axels are discs right? Q.3 - Spacers - I know they give you wider tyres but do/can they change your stud pattern (4x100 pcd to 4x114.3 pcd) ? Q.4 - Can i change the whole rear end (diff, axle and brakes) from a ke70 into a ke20 with no dramas? I would appreciate all help and knowledge, Thankyou Will

It appears that there is f@$k all decent 'sporty' shocks available for the KE70 struts. With most companies offering OEM replacements or nothing. So for those that haven't changed over to sprinter/corona/T18 struts. What shocks have you put in the front of your KE70? So far I've only found these companies to supply shocks to suit: Gabriel Monroe ACDelco Pedders Currently thinking either of the first three and f@$k pedders off.

I had 30 thou shaved off my 4k head to raise compression. So i put it all back together today but now there is a really loud tapping that sounds like its coming from the top end its, not valve clearance or the rocker gear because i adjusted the clearances until they almost had no gap at all but it wouldn't go away so i put another rocker gear in and still the same I'm thinking maybe because of the head sitting lower the push rods are on a different angle that makes them noisy but I'm not sure what do you think?

So I've noticed, in a lot of big HP conversions with upgraded differentials, some people prefer to go for a single tailshaft instead of doing a cut n shut on the rear section after the centre bearing. Other than being cheaper to fabricate, are there any inherent benefits to a single shaft? Does the KE70 centre bearing not handle HP very well? Now bearing in mind I'm setting up my '70 to handle rather than slide, do you think a single shaft would be detrimental in that it would add to the unsprung weight of the rear suspended components? Any related info or personal experiences would be appreciated. Cheers Jarad
