yo fella's. i got a reconditoned 32/36 webber the other day and as fook knows we had trouble getting a adapter plate for it. so i made one and fitted it to the yella terra today, and wow! the acceleration has so improved so much! it is great. it goes better, sounds tougher and looks the part with that gorgeous ram-flo air cleaner, but it still a couple of flat spots from about 1/3 - 3/4 throttle. i know it's in the tuning but i am not sure how to tune it. the primary mixture is done, i just don't know how to tune the secondary mixture, anyone have instructions, idea's or experience with these carbys??? thanks

Ladies and Gents, I was about to go and jack up my Rolla and stick some jack stands under it, but then I read you're not suppose to put a car on 4 jack stands? :blinks: Any thoughts on this? I was planning to put the jack stands on each one of the jacking points and place the tyres under the car (also on uneven slopping dirt surface but that's besides the point...)

Hey guys just wondering if anyone has this kit and still knows where their manual resides. I have the unit but for the life of me I cannot find the damn manual. I want to get the wideband kit for the display so I need to re configure the unit but without the manual I have no idea how to do it. I think the kit is kc-5300 or something along the lines of that. Cheers!

  16. I am in need of a bit of advice from anyone with experience in the area of engine rebuilding. I've done lots of rebuilds in my time, about 20, of which only 5 involved/required professional machining, and never once ran into so many problems. Short version, i had coolant leaking in to oil, pulled the head, couldn't see any obvious leaks, but suspected the fact that because the head was quite warped (~0.5mm) that it was just simply a head gasket failure. The head has serious problems, but i cannot source a new one, so I'm doing a bit of a dodgy patch up just to get the car into a position where it can be run. While i have the head off, i thought now would …

  19. Hi, just picked up a 78 rolla 2dr sedan deluxe. I have never owned one and was in the market for a cool older car like this to tinker and have fun with. The car is in good shape. The previous owner though did his own suspension job to include cutting the front springs to drop it and put blocks in the rear. I have heard this can be done and doesnt hurt anything. My question is what can i do to make the ride-ability better? It bounces a good bit and is pretty rough at times on bumps. Are there coilovers i can get and what and where from. Also what about the rear with the blocks, is this good or can something be done with the leafsprings?? I look forward to hearing wh…

I can spend about $200 more on this car without the wife knowing that I'm spending way too much on the car...........so I was thinking either extractors or head work on the mighty 3K. I'm getting the cam reground as we speak for $75 at crow cams so thats all done however using the search function I read several posts that suggest that with a cam in the engine I really need to have extractors. So since I was planning on cleaning up the head myself anyway I figured extractors are the go. So I ring up a couple of places here in Melb and nearly fell of my chair when I'm quoted between $550 and $630 for extractors with a 2" pipe. I thought this was a bit excessive so I…

I thought all k pumps would be pretty much the same. ebay and the above thread have told me otherwise. there are freakin millions of k engine pumps. Maybe I should pull mine off first to use as a sample! does any one have a list of all the differences?

I have been thinking about motors and stuff, again. Heres my idea(s). Configure the injectors (on a 4/7ke setup) to fit into the spark plug holes, and machine holes for new position for spark plugs. Ill let you guys do the whys, pro's and con's lol. Also, what would the effects be if i was to completly remove the middle wall between 1 and 2 inlet, 3 and 4 inlet - make it all smooth offcourse, and a manifold to match... =) -> increase exhaust ports as well. ;)

Hi, Been researching TRD K motor parts lately and was curious to see if any one had info or more pictures. Now the pic below is of the TRD dry sump kit for the K motor: Now as you can see the new TRD oil filter mount has a red fitting in the side that is rather large. I dare say this is oil in as another red fitting is in the sump its self which is prob oil to the tank or pump inlet. Now the red fitting in the new oil pick filter housing if this is oil in Id say TRD blocked the oil in hole in the block so oil will be pumped in then go into filter then around motor. Now question is.... In the K motor when the oil pump is removed would of TRD just …

I picked up a 5k on the weekend that has the numbers cast 24010-211, which isnt on the FAQ but seem to be close to the 3k bigport head. It doesnt have the protrusions from 1 and 4 plug holes either. Does anyone know what that casting means? For the moment ill just assume its a 3k bigport head. I will be pulling the motor down next week anyway because it has a bit of blowby and could do with a build anyway by the sound of it. Ill keep you all posted on what I find, but in the meantime does anyone know FOR CERTAIN what the numbers mean? Thanks guys!

    Look pushrods... aren't they something. How many sizes are there for the K motor series? I've measured the few I have so please do the same for the good of the forum's FAQ. 1K - 2K(import) - 3K(early) - 172mm 3K - 175/176mm 4K - 186mm 4K(with lugs) - 180mm? 5K(solid lifter, D-Dish piston) - 180mm? 5k(hydraulic lifter, D-dish piston) - 150mm 5k(hydraulic lifter, shallow dish piston - 156mm 7k - A12 - 152mm PS: no i'm not a kiwi though I did source my apparently false information from Club-K.

I have ke55 borg warner diff in my ke20. Its starting to get all harmonic around the 100kph/3000rpm range. Its fine under acceleration and braking. It occurs specifically cruising in 5th gear at that speed. Sound a bit like a washing machine. "brrrr brrrr brrrr brrrr". Just like that! It appears to have a lot of backlash and it 'clunks' when you twist the tailshaft backwards and forwards. As this diff has the ke twenty spring mounts fitted id like to use this diff housing. What are my options in regards to replacing the diff centre and how hard is it? Will the centre out of any k series bw diffs fit?

]Hey guys, I have an historic sports race car - a 69 clubman with a 1k series corolla engine. The car has a new race engine ready to be picked up & fitted, but I want to upgrade the dizzy. The current engine has the standard dizzy, and although it is adequate, the new engine will have 35% more power - up from 55hp to 85hp, and as the engine will be revving between 7800 - 8300, I am after a dizzy that will be more suited for motor sport. I am pretty much new to the corolla scene - well, doing the work myself that is, and would like some info on better brand dizzy's for circuit racing. So Ive had a idea that may make me stick with my ke20 with a 4k. It is currently a very healthy engine with even compression, 5k electronic distributor, 3kbp head etc. I'm thinking of making a custom inlet manifold for 4x individual throttle bodies, using one TPS sensor at the end of the throttle shaft, and 4x 300cc injectors. Instead of using a twin weber/dellorto manifold I'm thinking of fabricating my own inlet manifold flange and tig welding the runners, injector bungs and buying some throttle bodies. whats sort of ecu would be compatible with this setup? I'm thinking a megasquirt may be on the cards??? planning to ditch the distributor, run individual coil…

This is going to take a bit of explaining so here goes; Got my 32/32 weber on the car and the adapter plate has a hole through it that is a long oval but the manifold that it connects to has two small circular holes. So the air from the carby goes through the adapter then hits the inlet manifold where it has to go through 2 holes and hits a bridge of metal in the middle. Now my mechanic has suggested I take to the inleft manifold with a file/hacksaw or something similar and turn the 2 holes into one oval as per the adapter plate. This is supposed to decrease the air flow restriction and give me more power essentially for free! Sounds good to me. Does this make sense t…
