Hi all. Can those in the know please share their experiences with swapping out any combination of the 3K, 4K and 5K engines? How noticeable was the upgrade or downgrade? If I hypothetically took out a 3K engine and replaced it with a 5K engine, how much of an upgrade in performance would I get (not looking for horsepower numbers, just noticeable honest feedback). How impressed/disappointed were you with the upgrade/downgrade? Thanks heaps, Paul.

Ok, I'm aware some people wont like this. I'm aware dept of transport also wouldnt like this.... But I'm interested anyway. Early 3rz's ran a distributor of sorts, i believe the later ones still have the hole in the head for the dizzy, just blanked off. I'm just wondering whether it would be a massive backwards step performance wise to convert an efi 3rz to carb and dizzy. My reasons are simple, I just really like webers/dellortos :) . They sound hot! By my way of thinking an efi 3rz is a 2.7L four which makes about 150hp (flywheel) at 4500-5000ish rpm. Lots of 2L 4 cyls can make that at high rpm with webers, so I'm guessing the carbs wouldnt know if they happen to b…

Hey all. I am just starting to rebuild/modify a 4A-GE to put into my AE71 race car as a learning experience, I thought about upgrading the injectors using the ones off the 3S-GE sitting in the backyard which my sister blew up. My 4A-GE is a Blue top, So it has the 182cc injectors (Grey) Which equates to 36.4hp/injector so 145.6hp (91kw) is its max functionality. The 3S-GE injectors are 250cc. So that equates to roughly 50hp/injector so 200hp (125kw) would be their max fuctionality. So these injectors would only be good for under 125kw. I searched the FAQ and it says you can use 7M-GTE injectors as an upgrade (440cc = 352hp(220kw)), Only problem is i don't have…

hey all i've got a ke70 thats in the build atm. I know that a 4age is pretty much a straight swap into a ke (using the crossmembers and all). I was just wondering if it was any harder doing a 3s beams motor and box swap into one? What would i need to get 3s crossmembers to fit in or would need to get some made up. If anyones got any info on this please let me know cheers.

Hey all just curious I'm looking at putting a 3sge into my ta22 and adding a turbo my q is has anyone used a 3sge with a large turbo, i know lag will be an issue but will the 3sge still have reasonable pick up till the turbo spools up or should i just get a turbo that spools up straight away, I'm looking around the 225 - 200rwkw mark so if i have a turbo that only spools up later it will be a bit better to handle with every day conditions right?. and i don't want to be running crazy amounts of boost too as it will be a daily. any ideas, suggestions etc will be awesome matt

Help please I have a 3t motor in my KE20 and wish to fit up a pair of twin side draft carburetors . But the side of the manifold hits on the side of the distributor :bash: it is a long runner manifold. Is there a different distributor that I should swap too? I have searched and Google with no luck But I have found that people use a smaller 2T one? Thanks

Hey guys, I'm having some issues with my old girl ( the car... My mums fine) It started a few weeks ago and has gotten progressively worse, I could start the car and drive for a good ten minutes then it would start to die but if I then pulled over it would start again and hold idle but if you reved it, Would be fine then "miss" cough and start to die again, sometimes if you were light with your foot you could recover idle before it died. I used compressed air to blow out the fuel filter that was a little blocked... And noticed the clear plate on the front of the carby that shows fuel level was next to empty.. I then decided to bypass the filter and it's still di…

hey, would anyone know why my auto choke would be making the car rev right up(like 5k+ revs) when its cold. If i hold the little arms/leaver(circle in picture) down to keep the butterfly open it seems to rev alright..... if i don't hold the leaver down the butterfly closes and the car wants to rev out till its warm. i had the carby off the car a while ago while i was doing some work to the motor. not sure if all the hoses are in the correct spots. Cheers Zac

Hi guys, this is my maiden post on rolla club, so i'll start with a short intro.. i'm an r31 enthusiast, also own a '78 mk1 golf and an s13 sivia, and now also a t18 :) from sydney. Question: I recently picked up a 3tc powered t18, and have installed a single side draft manifold and a dellorto dhla 45. There is quite a lot of vacuum garbage that is no longer needed however i would like to retain the vacuum advance. the dellorto does not have vacuum anywhere on it. i have hooked up the brake vacuum to the manifold. am i able to t piece the brake booster vac for the dizzy? or is that a bad idea? can i just tap into one of the manifold runners and run v…

I have a 3tg engine in my race car and i just run some hose from the front of the head where the thermostat housing is to the rear which is the heater return line port. As i don't run a heater anymore. I was wondering if i can just block of these ports and get ride of the hose? or does water need to run through the head for cooling or something???

Hi Everyone! My friend owns a Daihatsu Rocky with the Toyota 3Y motor and a couple of days ago it was driven through a puddle just under a metre deep (would have only been touching sump area, though) and ever since it has lost all of it's torque and pulling power. It will rev up fine, although backfires a little bit when it's decelerating. Any suggestions as to what could be causing this? My friend claims to have cleaned under and around the dizzy cap! Cheers
