Hey i've got a 4k with a set of sidedraught 40mm dellorto's on it. the motor just seems to keep poping when cold and hot and just runs like a bag of shit. i was just wondering what peoples thoughts are on this. i was thinking of rebuilding the carbies or piss them off and just get a 4 barrel holly. Also the setup of got is basically a rebuilt 4k 300degree cam extractors 2 1/4 inch exhaust the twins when they run right somtimes, elec ignition port and polished head. With all of this do peoples corolla's fell pretty decent i can't rip a doughnut in the dry yet my stock as a rock 1.6 liter gemini can do it easy both have locked diffs and the the corolla just can't do it.…

Hi, A few small bits need assembling on my KE15 sprinter and I am jsut looking for advice. The rear drivers side vent on my sprinter was removed when car was repainted and now needs reinstalling. The back of the vent pictured below has 3 pins in the corners (see photo below): Now the holes in the car look like this: So I am wondering HOW do I stick this in. As in factory how did they do it as the top holes are a lot bigger than the pins but the bottom hole has like a rubber goo in it that makes the fit tight so just curious how people have put these in? Also the pins on the back of the grill are similar to the ones on the back of badges so it might…

Appreciate this kind of info isn't common knowledge but does anyone know for sure what the lift and duration are for the 2TG TRD cams (304 and 288 - appreciate that's the duration but you know what I mean)? Failing that, can anyone give me lift and duration for cams with more aggressive profile than the boggo factory items?

hi everyone, I just bought some new front shocks for my ae71 wagon. Now it seemed like a pretty straightforward task to change them. Ihave managed to get the entire strut out of the car, so the spring is out and brake lines disconnected and such. I can't seem to get the old insert out of the strut. Does anyone have any tips or advice to get the old one out? I have unscrewed the top thing which holds it in by the way, so i think ithe shock is jammed in there. I'm thinking of a hammer and putting it in the vice once all the oil is drained out, there must be an easier way. thanks adan

I've scored a coupla 32/36 DGVs and first order of business is to give them a cleanup. After removing the holders, the emulsion tubes are refusing to fall out in a willful and wanton display of bad manners. I don't want to go stuffing bits of wire and whatnot down there to encourage them ... I'm sure I'll screw the brass ... any hot hints from rollaclub land? cheers, Slapper

Hi, Is there any difference between KE30, 35, 36, 38 in the suspension front end design? Especially regarding front sway bars. Whiteline list BTF17 (20mm) for sedan and coupe, but a different part BTF6 (16mm) for wagon and van. Incedentally BTF6 is the same as listed for KE2# sedan and coupe. http://www.whiteline.com.au/docs/catalogues/WL_0323.pdf Why do you think they've done this?

Hi guys. The speedway team I'm with has purchased a Junior. We haven't raced it yet. Over the last couple of outings for this car it's spun so many times it's a bit of a joke. Well the laughter is coming from a corner nearby as I have to sort it. With the car up high and the wheels sitting on blocks I saw the problem straight away. The leaf springs aren't set right. To get tilt in the car they've put a straighter leaf set in the left rear. With weight on the LR leaf set is actually bending the opposite way to what it should be doing. The right side leaf set has about a 1/2" curve through out. Not much suspension allowed here. Is this a 'normal set up' on one of these cars…

Hey guys, About 3 weeks ago my daily 4AGE developed a rather loud rattle (almost like a bigend), I 1st looked at the timing belt idler as it sounded like it was coming from the front of the engine but it was fine, I was then told it was a bigend so i did the remove ignition lead test and it was still there, I was then told that it was buckets and shims so i took the cam covers off and had a look and none seemed loose so i just kept driving it until tuesday, When i left work the car was very gutless but i just wanted to get home, 20 mins later driving down the ipswich motorway at goodna the car coffed and farted and lost all power so i pulled over and turned it off, I then…

I just pulled my NOISY K60 apart today to find the front main bearing VERY rough and the front countershaft bearing rough and the countershaft galled up. It's an oddball; not like the K50, K51s. The front retainer is different from all the others I've seen, and all the ones in the books. I need another countershaft, and maybe another retainer and input shaft as these are damaged slightly Shipping would be high to the states I imagine, so donations are being accepted.... Also; if anyone could tell me exactly what a K60 g'box is, please let me know.

hey recently got a mars 180 amp mig gas welder with 8 output steps and 10 wire speed settings, has a 15% duty cycle and will be used for the project car. mainly for welding new sections into the cut out sections of rust, ie floorpan, tunnel, rear quarters, engine bay, guards etc... I'm going to practice a fair bit before doing the car and would like to know : 1) what gas do people recommend? i think the mix of 95% co2 and 5% argon would be good for welding quality and not too expensive, this might be called mig shield from what i have heard. i do have a 2 gauge regulator (pressure and flow? possibly). seems boc and gas places supply bottles on rent and refills. …

Ok guys, I got sick of trying to find a decnet set if second hand extractors and decided to get a set from ebay. They were advertised as fitting KE10- KE70 corollas with the 4K-C engine. I don't know about the other cars but the sure don't fit the KE70 and they are a little on the small side. I basically had to cut them off at the collector to get them to fit and fabricate from there on. It is for my weekend fun car so it doesn't really matter in the long run but I thought that I should let you know to stay away from then as you will be wasting $250. Cheers Paul

I have an 86 model hatch with a twinky conversion. That went all good, the problems star when I try to fit some of the other bits on: ;) The fuel feed line tank end, no thread to bolt the bracket to. The grille, its too long. I can't just bolt up a sway bar because the floor has no threads The factory strut brace, I needed to buy bolts for the fire wall, no thread. Thats just a few on my list, Does/Can anyone help me before I lose the plot all together and just torch the thing. TOTALLY ANNOYED WITH THE WHOLE THING!!!

posted this on toymods - but I know there are a coupla subscribers who don't necessarily get over there, so I'll post here as well ... Well, the 32DIR on the 4K is haemorrhaging fuel (seemingly) from every available seal and partial orifice after a year of use ... well, there's a nice coating of red fuel and dirt shite all over it ... and I'm suspecting fuel pressure may be the culprit. I'm about to slap a 32/36 on the 4AC and (in addition to fixing the 4K's problem) I don't want the same issues on this one ... I have the stock 4K fuel pump pushing fuel into the weber - I think the toyota pump is in the 7-9 psi region, where as the weber probably wants some…

Hi, Well decided last weekend to do a engine swap on my car. I had a tired 4K in my KE30 and decided I wanted to use my rebuilt 5K so did the swap took 1 day and car ran well SHIT. Got around problem with a points dizzy so I could get enough advance on it (electric dizzy only gave 0 degrees TDC at most) and ran carby fuel level up. This all gave an idle of 1000RPM and for 100km trip used 15L of fuel and up high toped out at 5000RPM and top speed of 120km/h b4 car pretty much died. So got car today to a work shop and tested and this is what I got: Car at idle is to lean at a road running well high way motor speed car makes a shit load of un burnt fuel.…

Hay guys I'm a little confused about something! iv got a problem with my 4k it seemed to b running on 3 cylenders any way i checked to comp an cylinders 2,3,4 had 180psi but cylinder 1 only 40psi. So i took the head off thinking it was the gasket cause i also had white crap under my oil cap an stuff. anyway took the head down to my mate to get it shaved to put in back on and he reconds the head and the gasket looked good so he turned th ehead upside down and filled it up with fuel an the valves didnt leak so we filled the cylinders up with fuel to check the rings an cylinder 4 leaked out in about 10 mins and the rest were ok!! so what I'm trying to say is if the rings…

Hi, Got 5K into car today and running thanks to help of trev but it idles fast can't be timed long story there and is a bugger to run. So I am looking into swapping the 5K carbie throats and jets into the 3K one. So I was wondering will they fit and what are the 5K jet sizes and throat diameters. I read the FAQ only has 4 and 3K ones. Also will a 4K points dizzy go into a 5K block? Probably yes. Why u say my electric dizzy don't have time to muck with it so going old school for ease of use for a few months then swapping back to electric dizzy and before you ask keeping the electric dizzy not for sale..lol Cameron

Hey everyone, my car soudns alright drivign around town and stuff, but at 100 on the highway i get a real loud noise, ive been told its wheel bearings, searchedo n ehre and heard wheel bearings or diff. it doesnt seem to fit a bad diff diagnosis. it does sound more like noise from the wheels rolling along, is it due to bad insulation of the cars not blocking out enough noise, or just sum stuffed wheel bearings. autobarn said 40bux a set for front and rear, would that be all id have to buy? or will i need seals and grease and stuff? I'm not to sure what a wheel bearing looks like.
