g'day boys. ok I've got a 4age engine with the small crank and I'm looking to replace the engine rods to handle the power I want but all the rods I find are for the large crank and I was wondering if it's possible to just get thicker bearings to fill the gap or do I have to get special made rods? I just not up to forking out $1,699 for a new crank. any information is much appreaciated.

I've acquired Toyota 5K 1486cc engine. A very basic specimen, missing most auxiliaries and in a rather poor state. My brother happened across an odd looking engine at the local tip. He rolled it over to check the number & $5 later it's on my engine stand. That is what I call a win. My intentions for this piece are unclear but hardly honourable. This is going to be a very slow rebuild as I want to go all places and explore all possible scenarios.... and I'm not exactly a rich amigo.

Hey guys and Girls, I'm new to Rollaclub, and yes i own a Corona and not a Corolla. I'm Nathan, but literally everyone calls me 'Socks', Live in a small town in tassie, and work out of the shed in my back yard. Never owned a corona before bar a skid bus years ago, couldnt sell my Commy wagon, so i swapped it for this. 1984 ST141 Dirty Auto Pig Corona, Interiors in pretty good nic but as you can see, bodys a bit worse for ware, also...auto. No major mods atm, just extended control arms, big wheels with stretchys and previous owner chopped the springs. Future mods are basically, make it look less shitty, work out what springs/shocks to run, find twin headlight se…

Ok so I have put into my ke20 a smallport 4age with t50 20 spline.. my build thread : http://www.rollaclub.com/board/topic/60867-another-4age-ke20/page__hl__%20another%20%204age I have 2 issues one which i think i have found the answer to. 1. i have an issue with oil leaking between the bellhousing and box. (i have found that i need a spacer ring on the input bearing.. will this be causing the box to move on the bh and leak oil?) 2. clutch slip. I have an almost new exedy clutch in there and afaik i have standard smallport hp. It slips really bad. could the spacer ring i didnt know about be causing this issue as well? any advice greatly appreciated, …

Are those ''octane booster'' fuel additives safe to use ? Do the manganese deposits from the MMT in them gum up the carburettor and foul the plugs, as described here ? http://users.imag.net/~lon.trea/TREATalk/Article04.htm Sure enough, on taking out the plugs, the insulator tips have turned yellowish. And I am adding in only half of that suggested on the bottle, or just half a bottle every 60 liters. The petrol in Malaysia is currently of questionable quality. Quoted as 95 octane, but performance is sluggish, engine knocks easliy, and tends to run on after switching off. My mechanic agrees, saying that this current petrol is actually of w…

Recently installed a 2" tacho in my ke30. This is the one i got from ebay for $30 + $8 postage. "Tachometer 2'' Gauge Wide Sweep 250degree reading 4-6-8 cycl adjustable In Dash" from seller "automotiveblitz". http://www.ebay.com....id=300880814731 Decided to put it where the clock would normally go Made up a simple aluminium plate to hold the tacho in place With tacho bolted in Wired both ground wires and the orange (light) wire to some plugs that would have been used for the clock. Red wire will hook up to plug in photo below, green wire goes to the ignition coil Don't know what this plug is normally used for, but is very handy for …

Hey all, going 4kc dizzy on a 4age smallport, and I need to know the measurements from the base of the shaft (ha) (where it contacts the head) to the top of the dizzy gear. IIRC I read somewhere that the gears for old and new 4ages are slightly different, so don't know if that would effect the measurements, so please if you do measure the distance to the bottom of the gear as well as to the top of it ;). Going to try get a late model smallport gear from a toyota dealer or something. Shitty 4ac blew a headgasket, so it looks like it's 4age time lol. Also, swear I didnt type that thread title so retardedly. Hax.

Been having fuel starvation issues with my ae71, which has a weber carb and aftermarket fuel pump. Would I be correct in assuming that it is better to have the fuel pump near the tank? Seems it doesnt suck very well as it is, damn dodgy job the previous owner did xD. It's a brand new pump, old one died due to running dry and rust particles, lol.

Hey there, I'm wondering how big of an ordeal would it be to put a 1jz-ge into a 1983, manual Ke70? How much money would I be looking at roughly to do this? And is it worth it in the end? My apologies if this is a dumb question, pretty new to this.

I will be removing the head this week to inspect the bores etc.. ill post pics when i work this tablet out. Ive been searching for a parts supplier but am finding it very difficult to source bearings, piston rings etc. has anybody found any good suppliers in the past for the more scarce toyota 3ete? cheers

( you know starting with the basics ) But this hasn’t worked out liked I planned it would I live in south Africa and getting the parts to do the most common changes on the car is near impossible . Hey guys, just needed some advice and knowledge from the world of the wise rolla guru's.. I just finished converting my 4k to Twin solex 40's and it runs... barely... now i know they will need a tune and balance and the engine still needs to be re timed. (to 8 degrees right?)... BUT the carbs were off a 2tc 1600cc and have a 32mm choke, unsure about rest of jets but going from the solex website jetting chart they should also be running a 140 for the main jet. I'm fairly certain this is the smallest size jet you can go for solex's but really, I'm just after some advice experience and knowledge about what i should be doing once timed, balanced and tuned.. thankyou guys…

Hi I'm a "newbie" to the forums but have had many different cars from commonwhores, to skylines, and a few corollas. I know my way around an engine and can normally diagnose problems i have had until i came across the ke from hell. Picked it up merely as a thrash around car because i own some land, fully serviced it, top to bottom from dizzy cap, leads, gaskets, oils, you name it, Ran like a gem and loved life. One day it wasn't starting, just clicking and not going nothing, (starter motor, i know) got over this by turning the key on and off until it went. Now i have nothing. No dash lights, no "door open" light, no clicks, nothing but headlights with no dash ill…

Hey, I have a stock 3K in my KE35, last tuesday it was running fine, like clockwork. But then I gave her 4 days off. And now I can't get her going again. I have checked everything I can think of; I have a good spark, excelent compression on all cylinders, and fuel is getting through (even tried starting it on some of that easy start spray). The only other thing I can think of is that the timing has gone out. (can that happen when its not running though?) Any help would be very much aperciated. Thanks.

hey guys just another quick question, the 5k i just bought has a 5k head but was once running a 3k bigport head and running a 10.9:1 compression ratio. the 4age pistons have the valve rececces in them so I'm just wondering weather its worth trying to find a 3k bigport head or just shave the 5k head and do a big port on it. what are your thoughts?? cheers again guys Not gunna lie, ill probabaly be putting a few topics up but should be right with most things :) do build 600hp diesel motors for a living :)

I've looked everywhere for a lowering block kit to suit my KE70 Panelvan for a temporary solution until I get my springs reset. Autobahn and Repco told me to hit the road. Cheapa Auto Spares said that they have a kit but it looks like it's for a Hilux (I imagine the early model "Lo-Lux") or something similar. I'm going to measure up my axle tube and stuff tomorrow and check it out, but I was just wondering if someone had already been through this process? Will the guiding pins and U bolts still be alright? Is there a kit not made for KE that still bolts up? Oh, and if you have a kit for KE on the gold coast, let me know. Thanks in advance.

Hello I need some advice . I have recently put a s14 sr20det into my 1981 ae70 lift back. As with the power upgrade it is certain to say I need better brakes and suspension. I have been lucky enough to have been gifted some s13 front brakes but is as far as I have got . Was wanting help on what master and slave to use what else I need to put the brakes on and what affordable rear brake combo to use in conjunction with the s13 front . And also a way to get around Nissan front and Toyota rear stud patterns . Please help!!

Hello all. Just a couple of questions. Currently fiddling with AE71/4AGE/T50 combo. The conversion is done, and running well. Car is club car never to be registered and runs on dirt. My problem is understeer. I have changed front springs to 175lb as per rally forums and chatting to well known suspension mob in Melbourne and rears have one coil removed (for now with king springs on order) Car has slightly raised front ride height for that "nose up" rally attitude and with one coil removed slightly lowered rear (still noticeably softer than front). Shocks are in working order and I have standard front and rear sway bars. I have run as sweep for local rally sprint on rally t…
