Gday guys. The other day ont he way home from work my clutch wasnt disengaging properly and thus it was quite difficult changing gears. Not what i wanted at the time as it was f###ing hot. Anyway i thought id fixed it by moving the circlip where the clutch goes through the firewall but that lasted a few days and the problem is back again. I have a 5k with a 5 speed gearbox out of a ke 70. I was just wondering if you guys could shed any liight on the topic as it is really pissing me off. I've checked every point along the cables travel and ive since deduced that it must be somthing wrong internally. Also the problem seems intermittent and only plays up when i exceed 3500 r…

I have an Aisin clutch master cylinder from a late 70's model celica ill be using on my panelvan, it was already in the car when i got it but had been leaking at some stage so the firewall etc is a lil bit eaten around the clutch master. anyway I'm wanting to know of any places in melbourne that can re-seal/re-sleeve my clutch master. i found a place in the US that can supply me with a brand new one but with the aus $$ the way it is atm it wuld cost me $110 just in postage to get it here, so rebuilding the master seems to be the better option. any help would be great! cheers.

Hey guys.. Whenever I put my clutch down, it makes a stupid noise. It's not a grinding it's more of a high pitched squealing kind of noise. It doesn't affect the driving at all but it makes my car sound like it's come straight out of a cartoon... Also, I've got a whirring noise coming from my wheels or something... I'm not sure where it's coming from but I know it's under the car cause I can hear it past 50km/h. I've searched on the forums and found one post that suggested it could be a wheel bearing but I'm thinking it's the diff because something similar happened in my other ke70 and I changed the diff and it went.. but I'm not sure if it's the same thing? Any s…

hey guys, my clutch in my ke70 is slipping again. it is only the cable operated one, so there is no chance of hydraulic oil getting in onto the pressure pate or anything (as my trusty haynes manual explains). i adjusted the circlip in the engine bay and it was a good 4-5 grooves loose, but since then i can really really notice that the car revs are high, but the car is nuggeting along. another sign that its getting worse is that i use to be able to, when wet, give more revs and dump clutch a bit quicker and get light wheelspin. i don't really do many burnouts and crap, but g/b was changed prob a yr ago now, don't u think that the mechanic wuld have sed 'yeh clutch is …

hey guys just converted from a shitty 3k to a fully rebuilt and very worked 4k! used all the same parts off the 3k and put on the 4k like alternator etc. my problem is that the clutch is not fully disengaging. checked the cable and it seems to be working sweet. my question is, is a 4k crank different to a 3k? the flywheel bolted straight on but I'm wondering is the crank that the flywheel bolts to thicker or thinner? any help would be much appreciated!!! cheers

Engine running: Clutch pedal in, no noise. Clutch pedal fully out, noise. It only makes the noise when the clutch has fully egauged. Partially egauged, no noise. Does it in gear and out of gear. The noise seems to increase in pitch as the engine speed increases. The noise kind of sound simular to dry bearing spinng fast. The engine in front of it has only just been put there, but I believe it was making the noise with the old engine. The trans has plenty of oil. Any ideas as to what could be making this noise? Oh yeah... its a T18 with a 3TC and T50.

hi everyone i have a ke70 that ive had for about a month now, has stock motor, clutch, gbox n such anyways just now got abit bored so went for a quick trash at a local dirt road, a couple of handbrake clutch dumps here n there and then my clutch suddenly felt wak, it was very loose to press, and would crunch on alot of gearchanges unless the revs were match perfectly so i headed home, on the way i decided i was angry at it so i gave it a good kick on one corner now the losseness is gone and it feels ok again, but it still crunches on gear changes, especially changeing down and its not slipping its just like...crunching? so what have i f@$ked? and what do i …

Hey guys, I'm gonna buy some coil overs for my car, and I was wondering what can I do to them, can i take them apart and use different springs? Can I put different strut tops in? can I put different shockies in? Whats possible? My dream would be to have height adjustable, with damper and rebound adjust.

I've picked up some pretty blue and gold anodised sleeves from fulcrum for my front struts but I'm baffled as to how they are actually attached. They look like they're made of alloy so they can't be welded to the strut. Are they press fit or do you need to attach a steel collar of some kind to hold it in place? I noticed Fook was using the same product but i can't see how its attached to the strut. Any ideas?

I was going to add this to the wiki but ERMA-GERD I got a head ache trying to get it down so maybe another L3370 8URR170 could get it down there. I've been misled for some time due to lack info in regards to coils so would like to pass some information on. The majority of stock 3k/4k units are either Bosch or Nippon-Denso oil filled coils designed for use with a ballast resistor. The ballast resistor is in place to limit the ignition voltage flowing through the coil prolonging the life of the breaker points and leads for that standard and original application, effectively culling 12 volts down to 9 volts. Without going into great detail this is how a replaceme…

Hi, my name is Andrew. I reasonably new to the forum so excuse the ignorance. I have recently bought a 1994 Toyota Corolla Seca (yes I realise that this is slightly newer than the cars this forum is built around, however I am hoping that you might all still be willing and able to help.) I have been thinking about installing a Cold Air Intake over the holidays for some entertainment. However after some research on the topic I still have some questions. Firstly I understand that the more expensive filter, the better filtration and life span. However I was wondering if it is recommended to fork out the cash and buy a brand name such as K & N or will a cheaper fil…

I was reading a for sale ad on AE86DC, what caught my eye was that somebody said the RWD 4AC pump and rear housing were the same as the RWD 4AGE variety. Since I happen to have both I compared the 2 and yes they are almost exactly the same, the main difference I can see is that the bit which the cam cover seal is supposed to sit on is different between the 2. Obviously this means you can basically get a RWD water pump setup for your 4AGE of your old 4AC. The biggest snag I can see is the FWD top water outlet wont match up to the RWD water pump housing :no2: . Now I'm not sure if anybody has tried this before but I had an idea to fix the problem. I've taken a few pics on …

Hi all, Wondering if you can help my wife, she is the proud owner of an old VP 3.8L wagon, and tonight driving home all of the electricals failed, starting with the dash dimming out, headlights dying and dash gauges reading lower than they should, then the car sputtered for a second and died. The car starts but stalls shortly afterwards. Any suggestions?? Thanks,

From running around trying to find out about all sorts of plastics etc, I discovered 3M Scotchply. This is how it's described: And among the many example uses are: automotive springs, trailer springs, and even helicopter rotor blades!!! I have heard, however, that it's not cheap stuff. But I thought it looked interesting!

Hey all, I believe I have compressed springs in my parts car KE70 as they don't appear cut at either end, yet the car sits lower and the springs move around a bit when the suspension is at full travel. Are compressed springs considered as dodgy as chopped springs? The only way I can see them falling out is if I launched the car off/over something so in that sense I under stand they'd be safe... But the spring rates would be shot wouldn't they? I'd prefer to have purposely built lowered sports springs but if it means I can save $200 this way then why not? Just curious as to peoples thoughts on this. Heres some pics that I took when initially confused as to…

hey all!! After a month of looking around for a new engine for my Ke30, I finally found one and was successful in changing my old 3k into a new 3k also. now it has a bigport head, TRD exhaust manifold, stock carb. (when I bought the engine it had twin down asians). had to change carbs because fuel here is very expensive. and now its running great!! now for the question, what should be the best gap for the contact point? i have tried the search button and I did not find any good results. OT: grimwolge, I still have the thing that you need, might ship it to you in about a week or two. thanks in advance for the replies.

For every one who has tried these things are a biatch to get in. I found a rather easy way to replace them. So here it is. What you will need: Hammer Vice 1 1/2" metal tubing Something to brace middle of control Arm (will explain down the track) You're new Bushes Your old control arms The fist thing you will need to do is get the old ones out. This is done simply by leaving them out in the sun for about an hour so there hot to the touch. Then bash the crap out of the small end. You will notice that one is smaller. Now to get your new ones in. These are the items I used for mine. The metal tubing was my old exhaust I still had lying around; it is perfe…
