I have just replaced the 5K engine in my car. The new engine is a 5K also and has been bored out 40thou and has had some mild cam work done, I have a set of extractors and the new engine has been fully balanced and ready to go - all except my current carby is crap. I am looking at upgrading my current carb to a side draught weber DCOE40 and am after some advice on the jet sizes and venturi size. Any help would be appreciated Cheers Shane

Just wondering if anyone knows how to tell what year/model there engine is, with nothing else but the engine number??? it is a 4k, need to know cause i have been told that there are 4 different gasket kits, for them! please any help will be great

OK, so I picked up a donor KE70 for a manual conversion for my KE70 because i got sick of skidding with a slipping sludgebox. I found that the donor has a stock 5K in it. I also have a KE20 with 4K that i bought 2 yrs ago that has: 32/36 webber + adaptor Larger reground cam (unsure what size until i take it out) and extractors that are sitting in the boot I am just wondering: 1. can I use the carbie, cam and extractors on the 5K? 2. If not, is it worth putting the stock 5K in or putting all the stuff into good 4K? 3. I might do some basic headwork, wich head would be best to use? and what would be best compression? I want to do a 4AGE conversion later, …

Hey All, In the process of putting a turbo on my 5k and was wondering if anyone can post a picture (or write a response) of how they have connected the oil return pipe to the engine/sump. I am making a manifold up and placing the turbo where the carby currently sits and then the carby will sit in front of it facing the front of the car. The issue I have is because of the 5k engine slant in the car (ke10) the oil sits higher in the sump on the side that my turbo is on. Cheers Shane

Hi All, I have just put a 5K in my Ke55 and I am keen to rid the bay of unneccesary crap. It has all the stock polution gear and a stack of various hoses runing from the carbi. Can anyone suggest what I can pull out to clean up the engine bay? what can go without affecting the running? Cheers - Paul

Ok, So i got my gear box and pedles (4speed ), now my dad said to me that i might have to change the yoke at the end where the gear box is attaching to the dryshaft. Is this true or would the auto dryshaft work? would i have to go get a manual dryshaft to work with the gear box?

just bought a ke30 with th e3k engine and as you would know its got shit all power, i was thinking about turboing it and was just wondering what would be a good selection of turbo to get that extra power ?? any sugestions thanks :)

I have recently purchased a 1968 Ke10 with a 4k and 4 speed in it. The car currently goes surprisingly good for a little 1300cc. The engine runs smooth and quiet, doesnt blow any smoke either. This leads me to believe it should be a relatively healthy engine. The car is basically standard but am looking to do suspension and front brakes. Wouldnt mind doing a few track days in it. I would like to get the most out of it with out spend way too much cash. 1st thing i will be doing is fitting a 5 speed. Hi everyone. I have a KE70 1982 and when i turn on the lights the high beem doesnt come on. when i flip towards the steering wheel then it comes on but when i flip back it doesnt. the lights are on when i try. thanks Scott

hi people i have an issue with my ke20 struts, firstly i have put ke55 brakes on to the ke20 struts. my problem is that when i reverse, the top of the wheel grabs the strut, so i thought no problem i'll put new wheel bearings on. this hasn't helped and its still doing it. now is their a different size ke20 stub axle or do i use ke20 wheel bearing? I'm stumped, please help

Hey all I got a 20v silver top in my ae101 it goes great but latley its got a flat spot between 2,500rpm-4000rpm. Any suggestions whats.causing it? And its been idleing at 2000rpm when it use to.idle at about 1000 rpm any suggestions on whats causing these issues?

hey guys. having a problem with my ke70 4age. bought my ke70 with a 4age about a week or so ago and has been starting and running fine but tried to start it up the other day and wouldn't turn over. wouldn't even make a noise to say the the battery is dead, so pretty sure that its not the battery. if anyone could give me a diagnosis to what it could be, that would be great. cheers.

I got a red top 4ag and I'm not getting any fuel out the injectors. theres plenty of fuel in the rail. and i put noid lights in the injector plugs and they work. i checked the ohms on the injectors and it reads 14.8. can anybody tell me whats wrong.? or something else i should check? is there any other way to check if the injectors are working or not? The fuel pressure regulator is good as is the fuel pump. any help, links, or anything would be HUGE! THank you.

I have just come into possession of a 78 Carolla. Body and everything is in great shape. The engine has a bad knock. It's undrivable because of the knock. I drove it on to and off of a car trailer to get it back to my house. The engine say ke55 but I was told it's been replaced with a Jem engine? In the past. I want to replace the engine. Is there a brand new engine that will go into this car or if not does anyone know where I could track down a reconditioned one and a someone who works on these to put it in. Or worst case scenario someone to fix the engine that's already in there.

The other day after a massive spike a month or so back in temperature (then not driving him), I did a full flush of all coolant and used radiator cleaner and cleaned up the gunky thermostat and put it all back together, and for a week or so it was fine. But now as of a few days ago, the thermostat in my 26 has started fluctuating intermittently, once up to as far as it goes when I was in a multi-story carpark going like 15kmh.. and there's tiny bubbles in the radiator on startup.. Car: Ke70 Issue: Carpet Installation Hey guys, I was wandering If anyone had any tips, pointers or how to's on carpet Instalation as I'm looking to install a pre-moulded ke70 carpet that I picked up brand new from www.nobullaccesories.com.au. I attempted to install it last night but it seems surprisingly difficult, also even though the carpet is pre moulded, it's still too wide for the inside of my car, and don't know if I should cut it or not... Got a ke-38 with a 4afe conversion with a custom vj20 turbo setup. Decided to service it a few weeks ago (oil change, plugs, fuel and oil filter, leads, dis cap etc) and I'm not sure if its related but its been running like crap ever since. I blew an oil seal in my turbo at the same time so i swapped the turbo for a newer but the same model turbo. changed all that and thought it was my plugs all along. Tried iridium plugs at .8 gap with a heat range of 5, it runs good until the turbo spools. Tried standard ngk with a .8 gap and a 7 heat range, same thing. then i got tried ngk racing iritop 7 and it runs rough but will boost to 20+ pounds but only with a tiny bit of …

Hi guys, my 5k has suffered a failed lifter... i want to replace all 8 of them but without the hassle of changing to a solid lifter setup. can't anyone tell me where i can get a set in a hurry? the repco store thats local to me says no one has any in the country... Hi guys, My 5k which is in a ke20 corolla was working, I parked it and then it wouldnt turn over anymore :(, I was able to push/clutch start it fine with ease. I have removed the starter motor and checked it and replaced it, but it wasnt this, I have confirmed that their is power to the starter motor and while it was out I checked to make sure that it was actually running. does anyone have any ideas? I'm in a bit of a pickle, All fuses seem to be fine as well, could it be my actual ignition switch?

Hey Guys, Need some help as I have never ran a car thru regency for road worthy!! Issue: Originally purchased a MA61 as a street legal track car but upon stripping more then expected rust was present(SURPRISE??).... about 7 inches either side below the front windscreen is rusted out :( decided a donor car was needed and purchased a almost rust free MA61 without a sunroof! but is defected(Tread,a few lights & replaced steering column).. I was down at centre road wreckers today and found 4 hubcaps in the boot of a 78 Crown. I not sure if they are crown caps. The look datsunish. They haven't got any numbers or markings on them. hi I'm new on here..i need help with a carb off a 76 corolla with a 2t-c...i took it apart and it has three ball type check valves...i know for sure where one goes besides the one in the bottom of the accelarator pump..the others....help me!!! any one have drawings anything please!!

i have just got extractors for my ke35 coupe and when we took off the stock exhaust they have a hole on the bottom of the carby do i have to seal this hole up with my new extractors thanks heaps Luke :jamie:

i was offered a cheap price for a set of volks racing wheels,but the tyre shop owner said that the wheels pcd are 100 and mine are 114.3..so they have to put spacer to make it to my car..is this true? i'm a newbie..so please2,help me. :sad:

hey guys my babys hurt :( I'm guna jack her up tomorrow so i can have a look but thouhgt id post this to get some rough ideas and sugesstions its a ke30 - 4k -4speed the problem is firstly its very hard to put in to gear, when i get it in gear it makes a clunking noise, when you take your foot off the clutch while its in gear it will not move cotinues to idle and make the clunking noise. but none the less it goes into gear so i don't think its the box I'm leaneing towars clutch or broken stub axle? please any sugestions tips or advice would greatly appreciate it thanks guys

Hey People I'm calling on the ke70 guys who have had experince with rims to help me make my mind up. I'm keen on 17x7 Mullins/CSA Pursuit wheels. The PCD is 4x114.3 and offset is +40. The question is will these fit up nice under the gaurds, will i need spacers and are they to big.

Hey guy's, I'm 14 and currently in the market for my first car to start building to have something decent by the time i get my L's. I've been steering towards a KE70 as i really like the shape of the car in general and there seem to be alot of modifications out there available for the cars. My main question is, what sort of price will a close to stock KE70 be? I'm not looking at spending a awful lot, just enough to buy me the car with maybe a set of wheels, other than that I'd do the rest myself. I'm in a bit of a jam lol listen.i might be about to do a SR20 swap in my ke70 and i would like to know.forst is the diff will hold all the power. now the problem is that i live in israel and i wont be ale to get hold of an hilux\ae86\t-series diff what other option do i have i look at my diff and the 86 one.it looks the same.can i just change the inside component? thank you yohann

just had abit of a read in the FAQ/wiki section but didnt help me to much so i was just wondering in the old hiaces with the 3y engine, do the gearboxs bolt up to the k or a blocks if so is it worth it as i am guessing they'd be geared different beening a van thanks, corey

I have every as standard including the 1.3L engine but other than engine (which i want to keep for now), what mods do i need to do to push its limits eg. sway bar, shocks and stuff like that? Can any body tell me if there is any different between a 2wd hilux diff drum to drum and a 4wd diff drum to drum. I want to fit one to a ae71 race car so I don't brake any more axels. I know the 2wd fit in but I can only find 1 from a 4wd. Any help on this matter would be great Ron W.A

I'm curious, would the 2.7lt hilux motor I think it's a 2tfe fit in a ke. We have a work mate as a company car where I work and it seems to go pretty good, and takes some pounding from some of the boys at work lol. I think it would be a sweet motor but unsure if there would be any problems fitting it. Has anyone tried to put one in a roller or would it be too costly and too unknown as aposed to a 4age that has been done many times. Just a thought,
