  1. Hey guys, Just wanting to get some advice regarding using velocity stacks on a 4age, whether or not this is legal/engineerable? (just running the stacks, not inside plenum) on an 4age 20v blacktop going in a ke55. (located vic) Just trying to do all my research before buying parts and before talking to an engineer. i know you have to keep all emissions gear with the engine conversion and i know i read somewhere you can have pod filter or cai but not both. Just trying to figure out what area velocity stacks fall into? Cheers
  2. Here is the new and improved ke30. In malaysia so getting others to work on it is cheap! Don't hate me..... It already had a 4age in with all the running gear from an AE86 ('89). Bargain it was! Now all i need is to sort the idle hunting and find the nearest track.. Ready to start: Tinkering and engine issues more rust Spray prep Sprayed! Lovin' the badge Mirrors on... Any comments greatly recieved. thanks Rolla club. Anyone got a glovebox mechanism?
  3. Hi all, Just wondering if the Ebay Alloy radiators are worth it as I'm going 4AG-TE in my AE71. I currently have the original 4ac and it was fitted with a thermo fan, http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/FULL-aluminum-alloy-radiator-toyota-Corolla-AE71-AE72-/261213476702?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3cd189575e&_uhb=1 With the increase in power I am assuming I will need a better radiator. If there is anything good/bad to know about them it would be nice to know!
  4. Hey all, new to all this build thread business but here goes. I'm Ollie from ye olde Hobart, currently 19 and slowly working away at this project of mine. It's an '84 ke70 wagon that I picked up close to two years ago now, paid $2150 which might have been a tad too much due to the rust but ahh well. This is how it sat as I got it Pretty much as soon as i got it home I tore it apart to inspect the rust. Wasn't too happy with what I found.. This was the worst of it as well as the usual in the guards, gutters and a few other stray spots. Unfortunately I had to do a quick fix as my brother sold his car and needed mine. So that involved sanding back, rust treating and a mix of bog and fibreglass. Not pretty but it worked. Going to weld new metal in there to fix it permanently. It was sitting way too high in the rear so next on the list was some 2.5" blocks and flipping the bottom leaf to the top to flatten it out. This was the result and I was fairly happy. Again, not permanent, I plan to get the leaves reset. It basically sat like this for a while as I gathered parts. I am now getting much more serious about making this as clean as possible, and doing things properly. I have been cleaning and painting as much as I can, probably due to my undiagnosed ocd.. My plans for this is to have a slightly worked 4k with, twin dcoe's, extractors, Tighe 154 cam grind, 1.75-2" exhaust, wheels, coilovers, new bushes and a lick of a nice neutral colour. Currently thinking of a grey of some sort but still undecided. I'll leave it at that for now, but ill try get these posts up to date with where I am currently at asap. Cheers, Ollie.
  5. Hi guys I'm looking to get some clear/altezza tail lights for my 92 gti ae93. I've seen pictures of other cars with them but can't find them anywhere for sale. Is there another model that would fit perhaps?? Thank you...
  6. I'm looking to get a set of secondhand rims and tyres. Does anyone know if the stud patter is the same for all corollas? Mine is a 1992 and the rims I want to buy are off a 2005..
  7. I've recently bought a '92 gti as a project car. What is everyone's opinion on whether to turbo or supercharge? Fixing up the body first... engine last :-) Pros and cons of both please
  8. Hello! Just yesterday I had to pull off a 21 year old power steering pump that just died in my ’92 AE-92R Corolla Seca SX, 4A-GE, and to do so I had to take off the radiator, battery, air conditioning compressor, and dizzy.. we couldn’t jack up the whole motor which would’ve made the process easier so I had to do it the hard way unfortunately, so my question is how do I put the whole distributor back in, in the right place and get it all running normally? I hear it’s quite a job... I was told it’d be $700 to get the pump replaced by a mechanic because it’s such a big job, so with some help I did it myself. Anyone have some experience with this? Thanks very much!
  9. I have a smallport 4age and I am in the process of fitting it with twin 45 carbs and putting it in my ke70. I've read up a fair bit about the ignition setup but havent found any info about why I can't use my stock smallport dizzy with an msd setup, why can you only use a bluetop or a modified 4k dizzy? I have a smallport dizzy but haven't been able to find any bluetop dizzies anywhere. Any aftermarket ones around? Any help is greatly appreciated. Cheers.
  10. I am currently undergoing a 4age conversion into a ke30. Today I picked up a T50 gearbox to go with a (I believe it’s a blue top) bigport RWD 4AGE. I need some advice on oil lines and vacuum lines, etc. The engine mounts arrived the other day but they are obstructed by the oil line in the picture. Has anyone else had this problem? The engine mounts were made for a 4age but I guess not all 4age engines have this setup. If I can’t find a better solution I will need to take the mounts to a fabricator and get them modified. http://postimg.org/image/sqnyvj55z/ http://postimg.org/image/e7rkzknrd/ Also I’m not sure where these vacuum lines coming off the front of the tvis intake should lead to. I have a feeling I have to buy a while heap or other bits and pieces to go with it. http://postimg.org/image/c42onr0gx/ A huge thankyou in advance
  11. g'day boys. ok I've got a 4age engine with the small crank and I'm looking to replace the engine rods to handle the power I want but all the rods I find are for the large crank and I was wondering if it's possible to just get thicker bearings to fill the gap or do I have to get special made rods? I just not up to forking out $1,699 for a new crank. any information is much appreaciated.
  12. Are 4AGE flywheel bolts the same as a 3TC? I'm looking for ARP flywheel bolts for a 3TC. When I search on ebay, bolts are advertised with the part number 203-2802. When I look on the ARP website catalog the part number refers to 4AGE. http://beta.arp-bolt...p?RecordID=1138 I've compared 3k and 3T bolts. They are both M10 with the same thread. Just the 3T bolts are slightly longer (~0.7mm) and has a more beefy head on it. If 4AGE flywheel bolts could fit a K engine, then they should fit a T.
  13. G'day mate. I hope I'm doing this in the right place, I've got a 4age engine that I'm rebuilding and I've got some ARP high compression pistons that are 12:1 ratio and I'm looking at a set of quad-throttle bodies some upgraded cams and what-not and I'm just wondering if the standard ecu would be able to handle all this of if I should scrap it and upgrade? cheers.
  14. Hi all, I have been researching turbos and found a bit on the wrx sti vf34/36 turbo on http://www.hachiroku.com.au/2009/02/ae86-tuning-guide-turbo-4a-g/ and was wondering if anyone has done it or had any experience or driven a 4agte with one on it? I'm very interested as it seems to be very quick spooling as the vf36 has a titanium twin scroll exhaust wheel and shaft with ball bearing assembly. It has a ridiculous exhaust flange though... custom manifold i guess! Also had a look at the garrett gtx3076r which my mate had bought for his ET turbo Pulsar, but once researched it seems like there would be nothing until 5-6k rpm? I'm aiming for 165-210rwkw, I have a late model AE92 big port 4agze, oil squirters, crank angle censor coil packs, Jdm RWD manifold etc I'm also thinking the smaller exhaust housing on it would be better than an s15 BB turbo as they have a .80ar rear or something..? Any thoughts on this are most welcome!
  15. I'm not to sure why but I've DONE the conversion everything's into my Ae92 corolla Now the engine is cranking but from what I have noticed its getting no spark, I thought it was the crank angle sensor which is in the dizzy on the blacktop so I changed it and nothing changed, then I noticed I'm gettig constant power to my coil . When it should be pulsing when I crank my engine, WHY IS THIS HAPPEENING THIS CONSTANT POWER AND NOT PULSING POWER KEEPS MELTING MY COILS Thanks guys
  16. Hey guys, so I checked my car in (AE92 GTi) for a mech. inspection today, i've had it for about two years now, always ran a little rough, but i kept it nice and serviced well over the years. So the mechanic comes back with this; can I please get some feed back on this? whats important, my guess is the leaks, he didnt figure out why my front end knocks, its a weird thing to describe, it happens when i put down power - not necessarily flat footing - but moderate acceleration, its a very rapid knock, almost like a driveshaft knock of some sorts, its not CV's because i do the full lock turn and no ticks, so if anyone has had a similar issue it would be much appreciated! here are some pics of the report and my car :)
  17. The start of my Rolla wagon project, reliving my youth by rebuilding the first car I owned 20 years later
  18. Gents, I'm sure this is a story a lot of you can relate to... I was disassembling the 16v 4age I'm putting into my ke38 wagon. After taking the pistons, rods and bearings out, I put them into seperate bags and lined them up in order. Here's where it gets crazy... I was propositioned into a three way by 2 swedish ladies who came walking through the front gate. In the throws of passion, the bags containing said engine components got moved before I had a chance to mark the bags with their respective order numbers! CHAOS! Now, having finished the marathon session with my new foreign lovers, I'm back to working on the 4a. I've attached photos of the markings on the bearing end caps. As far as I can tell, three pistons are identical and one is different. Three of the pistons have a '2' on the side of the bearing end cap and a '1' on the bottom. The other one has a '1' on the side and a '3' on the bottom. Can anyone help with this conundrum?
  19. Hey Guys & Girls Just a quick question, what is the size of a stock ke30 rim? EG, 13x5 +15 and what size tyre because i am looking for a set of 15x8 - 25 offset and i am not sure if they will fit, nor what tyre i will need Please help
  20. Hi, I would like to present my rolla which is my sort of obsession :-) Its now twincharged and I think it is very near its complete state (which I am not sure what is exactly :-)) - Let me tell you my story. All started in 2008 when i was desperately looking for something with 4age engine. This E8 appeared on the marked and on the every next day I made a deal with its owner. It was a bit rusty but the engine was in great condition, car was light and nimble, had this smell of old inside :-) it was just great. I will post pics in separate posts of different stages that the car went through since than. This is how it was on the beginning:
  21. Hey all, it is a 20v Silvertop, Anyone have any opinions on why if I pour fuel into the throttle bodies and start the engine, it runs till its out of fuel, yet there is no injector pulse? I am still using the FWD wiring loom UNCUT as I only put the engine in for an event this weekend. I can't figure out why it would have been running perfectly in the FWD car and now it's not going. Its still a standard Silvertop ECU. Perhaps it could be something like part of the interior loom that is still in the other car that needs to be there? Although I'm just powering the ECU from my ignition switch and I've left most of the stuff that would have been in the kick panels disconnected because I don't want bulk wiring inside the car as I barely used any of it with my 16v? Maybe its an Earth that I've left off somewhere? If anyone has any insights it would be great because I need it by this Sunday!
  22. Hey guys, I have a 4age smallport AE92R with a blown head. I'd love to put a new smallport head on it, however my funds don't stretch far enough to fork out $400 for a new one, and all the U-Pull-it wreckers around here only seem to have bigport TVIS motors available. If I just get a bigport head/intake manifold do I also have to replace the ECU, Wiring loom, etc??? Or does anyone have any smallport heads they'd like to be rid of? Any help would be appreciated. Cheers, Josh
  23. I was wondering on peoples opinions on putting a SC12 on a 16v 4AGE smallport (N/A) So it will be high comp. I'm not planning on running massive boost. What would I be needing to change/upgrade to get it to work. Rough figures on price would be ripper! As its possibly to buy 4AGZE so I obviously I wouldn't want to spend more than one of those cost So what I assume currently is: Bigger injectors- 7mgte or 4agze, is there any other options? New ecu- could a 4agze be used? or aftermarket? Intercooler and plumping setup. Some what modified loom or possibly 4agze one? Not sure what would be necessary here New intake manifold or 4agze or will it fit the standard one? Will it bolt on the same as a 4agze? Any other things I would need to do/use Many thanks!
  24. So I’m swapping a 4AGZE out of an AE92 Corolla and dropping it into a less bent AE92 that used to have a 4AFE mounted in there. It appears that the 4AGZE was mounted a little dodgily (fits with the rest of the car) and the Right hand side (timing cover) engine mount appears to have been cut off the inside of the guard and this abortion fitted, pics to follow. I’ve done a little bit of research, enough to realize that the ZE installation appears to be dodgy and that I should be able to use a 4AGE mount and drop it into the new shell. Looking up ToyoDIY though, Toyota have different part numbers for the 4AGE mounts and the 4AFE mounts. There are also different part numbers for the bracket that bolts to the engine. I would have thought they were all the same, given they are all based on a 4A block, and some info I found while googling appears to agree with this view, people claiming you can drop a GE into a corolla using the FE mounts. But, thought I’d throw it out there, has anyone else looked closely at this and worked out if there is a real difference in the mounts ? Perhaps someone has a pic of the 4AGE mount and bracket that they can post up. I’ll post some photo’s of the 4AFE mount that I currently have. I’m sure I can make it fit with the FE mount, but if it’s not as strong or whatever then I’ll do it right this time round, rather than having to pull the mount further down the track. As always, any help appreciated.
  25. Hi, i knows this question has been asked before but as I'm new to the roller scene and i really don't know what to do. i have looked at doing conversions from 4age, sr20, rb20 to rotors but I'm not sure were to start and the complexity of the conversion as its my first "do up" car. so I'm not sure if i should stick to the standard motor and turbo it or...? its allready got 32/32 carb and exhaust but not sure what else i can do to the standard motor.
