is there any brake upgrade that is commonly done to ae86 struts? i ask because i have ae86 struts in my garage, and i want to upgrade the front brakes on my ke25. i don't want to make steering much worse, so i'd like to use ae86 power steer arms, which other struts do bolt to, but i have these struts now :D i've already looked around, and there's the usual toymods article on changing to cressida struts. and whilst the TTT 300mm brake kit would be nice, i don't want to spend us$1200. with the s13 brake upgrade, from what i've read you install the whole nissan strut including lower control arms and steering arms, yeah? probably would ruin the front track on a li…

Got a bit tired of bulbs blowing, and went and got myself those cool LED bulbs for indicators. They look cool and all that, but... they don't quite work properly. I think it's cause they don't offer as much resistance (or maybe they don't draw as much power) as normal bulbs, but with them in, the indicator flasher doesn't flash... Is there any way to get around this?

So, we've got our project rolla.. Now, some time between disassembly for painting and re-assembly something has gone awry in the front suspension. We appear to have gained a degree or two of *positive* camber and the steering feel on straight ahead is very vague. What are we likely to have messed up? Are the strut tops offset? Can we have put anything else in backwards? Would love to solve it to rego it tomorrow.

Hey All. Well, ive descided to go full out with the gauges, in my Blue ke70. (for the piece of mine for nick and justin, i wont be doing it up there :harhar:) Basically, (see pic first up) - I'm extending the gauge cluster to the left, and adding "Oil temp, Oil Press, Water Temp" Catch is, i plan to do it, in a way, which makes it look STOCK ! So, that means striping down the new gauges, and changing the backrounds, and making all the gauge markings the same, as per stock ke70 / Ae71. Now that we have moved over that, what ive been doing is scanning in the gauge facures, editing them, making them a black and white BMP (black backround, white = cl…

Hi, I'm just wanting information on the super charges that were straped to the 4agze motor or any other toyota super charger. The purpose is that I need about 200 CFM at about 1-2 PSI to start my jet engine minimum. I have researched some SC and found they will do this easily but I want something compact so I instantly though about the toyota one. So if anyone can shed some light on how much air one of these babies can push what is the max pressure etc it would be much appreciated. Thanks Cameron

Hi, Today I was on the last leg of installing my 5K into the KE15 and the 5K is missing the small bearing that goes into the crank and supports the front of the gearbox input shaft. Now I need this bearing as the weight of the clutch plate makes the input shaft slightly sag and over time this will cause wear and when I engage the clutch it will be off center and make the car run bad. So i am wondering Where can i get a puller to get this bearing out of the crank? As I have a 3K here with a brand NEW bearing and I now want it out of the 3K so I can put it into the 5K. Cheers Cameron P.S. Does anyone know the bearing part number or size eg 608? So I co…

I'm driving home today in the Camry, and I suddenly notice it's getting pretty hard to change gears. Then I notice that the clutch pedal doesn't come back up anymore. That's strange. Hey look, even with the clutch pedal in the clutch is still engaged. Umm... Anyway, left it in 3rd and just managed to get home, slip the car back into neutral (can't get it into any other gear), cut engine. Had a look underneath, no clutch fluid. Hmm. Popped the bonnet, looked around, can't really see any leaks. Looked in the clutch reservoir, it's a bit low. Topped it up. Pulled the clutch pedal back up and pressed it again, hey it still doesn't come back up? Had a look at…

Hi guys, a penny for your thoughts... My Rolla has a 7K fitted to what I'm assuming to be a standard 5 speed out of a Ke30. Bellhousing is cast onto the body of the box. When I first purchased this vehicle, it was running a 7K flywheel and heavy duty clutch. As I soon discovered, I was breaking a clutch cable on average once a month. This was because the fork had little or no adjustment, due to the fact that the fork was pushed right against the back of the spline due to the height of the 7K clutch and flywheel. I proceeded to change back to the smaller 3K flywheel and standard clutch. Since then the vehicle has considerable vibration on acceleration and decel, most notab…

hi guys, just bought a KE55 coupe the other week and its starting to have some engine problems. The engine is a 4K-C with a Fiat Webber on it and everything else standard. It has some trouble starting up, especially when cold. On my way to work this morning it had a distinct lack of power. as in, it struggled to get past 60kph in third. It free revs fine, but under load it coughs and splutters, sounds like its misfiring. some times it runs ok. but this only lasts for about 20 seconds, then it goes back to the coughing. It was running fine just a few days ago, but has started doing this more and more lately. any help would be appreciated guys, Thanks, M…

Hi, On my KE15 I purchased a set of real pacemaker extractors  These extractors are the same for every KE1X model so they SHOULD bolt straight on. well not quite :bash: I found when bolted on they didnt sit flush. Upon investigating I found the cylinder 1 runner hit my starter motor. Now KE1X starter motors the solenoid sticks out away from the motor. See pic below: (I cracked the back of the solenoid this is not from heat..LOL) These starters are also heavy and have less power than the later model starters so it is a good thing to change them. These have 0.6KW. Later models have 0.8 KW. Now if you run a later model gear box in your KE1X or KE2X t…

Hey everyone, my wagon is now built and on the road, it goes well other than a few teething problems. the next big task is tuning the suspension as it currently handles like a boat. I have done some research but i am new to this so i am a little unsure on what to buy. i read in an earlier post in the AE discussion which provided some good info but its about a sedan. i have a new set of munroe GT gas shocks and 3cm lowerd king springs in the front but i will replace them all if a new set up is needed. If someone could reccomend a shop in ipswich or brisbane who is good with corollas that would be great. and any other advice you might have about my suspension would be appre…

 Hey Guys Has anyone ever had to grind down a brake caliper to fit a wheel on before? I just got some new wheels and i put them on but when the front ones went on they wouldn't spin I then realised that the caliper was protruding too far out and the wheel wasn't quite sitting properly :lolcry: I took to the caliper with a grinder and took off perhaps 4-5mm of what looked like unneeded steel Is this safe? i haven't really got to the meat of the calliper or anything but i didn't knw if this was a common issue And also, how much clearance should be between the wheel and calliper? At the moment there is maybe 2mm Should i grind more off? A…

The Car I am looking at has some rust in a couple of area whihc I would love to look at the body structure BEFORE cutting the car. Any help would be appreciated. Secondly I am sure someone has it somewhere but I have not found too much is the wiring diagram for same above mentioned vehicle. Hi everybody. Have got my 5K in KE70 and it has been misfiring in in high RPM's, more so when the driveline is under load. I have played around with the timing to see if it was that, but can't seem to find a sweet spot. So wondering what other issues may be causing this to happen. Could it be carby? Motor is a worked 5k with 35/75 Cam, ported head, solid lifters and probably lightened flywheel (I didn't build motor) with a 32/36 weber bolted to the top. 160/165 air jets, unsure on fuel jets. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Cheers, Vince.

Hey I just lifted my Ke20 rally car for more clearance but now I have lost all of my negative camber. Is there a way of changing my lower control arm to something longer? Does anyone sell adjustable ones? Have they been done before? Do I need to modify my steering rack? I don't want to put adjustable top plates in they are to expensive and you only get a small amount out of them. All of my front suspension is standard except for springs. Thanks in advance B-Rad

so after buying my ke30 from andy h, a few weeks later my head started to leak water into my pots. after inspection i found a brand new head gasket and a minor surface crack in my head, but the crack had the appearance of one that had been there for years. the mechanic at API engines lonsdale agreed. it looks like the previous owner has obviously had troubles with the crack before then just put on a brand new head gasket to buy him 3 months or so and sold it to me under the impression the car was gold. The head has been welded and shaved by API engines, ive bought a new water pump (because the old one was going to give out soon), and new gaskets for everything…
