  1. Hey all, much to my dismay my 4AGE block has a pretty deep pit in cylinder 1, so its either get it resleeved or use another block. However, I have a spare 4AC. Is there anything stopping me from putting 4AGE internals in the 4AC block? Is it actually weaker or anything? My mate has also offered me a 4AFE in ok condition, read up about swapping the head and that seems like a no go. But same again, is this block suitable to receive a GE crank, pistons, rod assembly? Cheers.

  2. Started by Beams,

Hi there, Looking at getting into some cheap motors to learn off. Firstly, Ive tried searching, but I can't find out much about the differences between the 4AC and 4AF blocks. From what Ive read, it is possible to bolt on the 4AGE head onto a 4AC block, but what about a 4AF. The reason for asking is that my workshop manual (Toyota 4AF 4AGE Repair Manual) only covers the 4AF model. Are the blocks the same? I would hate to torque up the bolts to the wrong specifications etc etc. Secondly, are the mounts similar/the same as the 4AGE mounts? Mates have a broken Corolla with a dead 4AGE, can I drop the 4AC/4AF and test it out? (Ignoring road rules for the moment) …

I have a modified 5K in my KE70 but i want MORE POWER, as does everybody. I want to know what the internal differences are btween the 5 and 7K motor because i plan to stroke out the 5K to up the displacement. 1. Are the crankshafts the same? 2. What is the difference in the length of the rods? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Mitch.

I had a look in FAQ and it seems KE55 & KE70 5 speeds have the same gear ratios. does anyone Know if a KE70 Countershaft is the same as KE55.? Maybe someone has a parts book out there. Thanks Darren

hello. I am looking for a diff for my ke55 rally car and was wondering if you could help me out. I am after a diff that is about 4.5:1 or 4.7:1 or there abouts. limited slip would be good but not essential at this time. i currently have the standard(?) 4.1 in there at the moment and the car definately has lost acceleration compared to the previous 4.3 (which i broke) which was also not the greatest for acceleration. The corolla has the 2t motor and 5 speed gear box and runs on 14 inch 4 stud rims with drums on the rear. Any help on what diffs fit in to the ke55 or what has to be done to make them fit would be most appreciated. Thanking you in advance. …

I have a general question regarding the performance of different suspesion setups relative to road surface condition. I live on a ruff as guts dirt road which means that my car is perpetualy dirty and everything rattles like crazy. I have often considered upgrading the suspension/wheel setup on my 4AFC AE92 but I have never bothered as my logic dictates that 'travel=comfort'. So I am currently rocking standard suspension with some basic 14inch steel rims (pretty sure they are off the late model lancer with new mags on it that I saw sitting next to my car when when I bought it a few years ago). Anyway I am interested in hearing peoples opinions on how stiff, lowere…

Made my own topic, don't want to get warned for doing the same stupid thing that many others did AFTER admin told them to stop. :) Anyway. I can't help but notice the "two" extra cylinders out of the Toyota V8  are you really comparing a V8 to an inline 6? Alright then, here we go. I presume your talking about the 1ggte, the twin turbo inline six 2.0L toyota engine, that was found in the JZA70 Supras. The JZA70 Supras weighed in at 1586kg, and the motor makes 210hp (156kw) (according to wikipedia.com) On the other side, you are comparing the 'Barra Turbo', the single turbo inline six 4.0L ford engine, that is found in the BF F6 Typhoon. The…

  18. I understand drum brake master cylinders have a "residual pressure valve" to keep say 10psi of pressure in the brake lines, as drum brakes require this to compensate for spring return tension. However, when you convert drums to discs, you need to remove this valve, or your new disc brakes stay on when you let go of the pedal. How does this work when you go the other way - putting a disc brake master cylinder on a drum brake car? I see Wilwood sell aftermarket residual pressure valves, is this the only way, or can you install a valve in the new master cylinder? JB1762 (15/16") bolts to KE30 booster. 20. Distributor Block Off Plate for 4KC? I'll be switching to mega squirt MSX3 soon and one of the reasons is to gain full control of the timing. In order to do this I have four 5v logic coil on plugs, a hall effect sensor, and 36-1 crank wheel. Obviously, the distributor is not needed with this setup. I know I need the bottom half because it is driven off the camshaft which turns the distributor that turns the oil pump. Is there a nice pre-fabricated cover to fit over the bare internals of the distributor while still allowing it to drive the oil pump? Regards, John

  24. Hey Guys, Does anyone have any experience in making your own brake lines? I'm in the process of putting on braided lines on my Corolla and the fittings are basically seized onto the pipes/tubes so in the process of attempting to undo the connections I ruined the fittings. In my research I found a whole bunch of videos of people doing all their own brake lines, mainly on hot-rods and muscle cars. It appears everything that's required can be purchased for approx $30.00 to $50.00 - which is a brake line flaring kit and a brake line bender. Has anyone had any success doing their own brake lines? Cheers, Tom.

I have noticed a lot of people that build their coilovers incorectly. One of the main thing I see that bugs me is the springs ability to remain captive. If the spring is too short can this be fixed by getting a taller spring with the same rate? I normally mention the SW20 MR2 struts for the shorter stroke, but sometimes it isnt enough.

Have a welder? Want a bigger exhaust? In fact you don't even need a welder (although it will end up cheaper if you do . Go down to your local wreckers such as the wonderfull U-Gank it here in adelaide and go down to the falcodore section of the yard. There you will find two sizes of exhaust, 2.25" and 2". I opted for the 2" because it should suite a 4k just fine. The 2" systems generally come from the early model cars and the 2.25" come from the newer models. The other reason I chose the 2" was because they come with longer stright sections and the hump for clearing the axle is a bit longer. They also had less resonators/mufflers taking up precious exhaust leng…

From my reading, it seems a common thing with some dizzy's that you can get different cam plates to change your total advance etc. Does anyone know: - If there are different cam plates available to fit and where would I find the part numbers OR - If this particular dizzy is used on other cars (ie - I might be able to pull apart other ones to get the guts and maybe find new cam plates!!) Hey All, My name is Adam, and i'm currently in the process of fixing up a KE30 to be a daily driver. The problem i have at the moment is that the wheels i've sourced foul on the struts, and i imagine it will only get worse once tyres are fitted. So what i want to know, is do all the 4 * 114.3 RWD 'rollas run the same offset between the strut body and the wheel bolt up face, or will a later model hub (perhaps one that came factory fitted with wider tyres than a ke30) give me more clearance?
