Can I fit the alternator for a 4A motor onto a 4K motor without to much drama and muckin around or would it be just plain not worth it????

was just randomly searching google when i stumbled on this http://www.tweakit.net/shop/product_info.p...c484ebd8b072091 giving me all sorts of bad ideas :P if it was a bit cheaper... still it has got me thinking would be pretty cool on a 4k or 3tc what do you guys think, would it be much cheaper to try to attempt to build this setup over the $1,340 pricetag?

Hey. It's raining over here and I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to go out and do an errand in my automobile. :y: I get to the bottleshop and I've got my lights on (it was raining heavily) and my radio and my windscreen wipers on full ball. I turn my windscreen wipers off since I'm undercover and I eventually purchase my alcohol and hop back in the car. I accelerate to leave and the car just DIES. The more acceleration, the more it dies. I am thinking this is either from the huge pools of water I was driving through on the way there, or something to do with too much electricity being used. Or could it be from the water getting into the electrics? …

do ALL 5K motors have hydraulic tappets? are 3K and 5K rocker covers and distributors identical and interchangeable ? were 5K motors standard equipment on any Aust delivered cars? when were 5K's first and last built approximately? any help would be much appreciated, thanks pete

Hey. I'm trying to figure out a way to make a custom intake gasket for my 5K. My first thought was to buy a 4K gasket and get a machinist to enlarge the holes. Would this work? In other words, can it be guaranteed that the head ports were enlarged from the centre out in a uniform fashion? E.g. the photo below: If it can be guaranteed, then I can do what I first planned and I'm hoping it will work. Cheers.

hey my ke is alsome at the moment except for a little problem which bugs me. its running rough it wont idle at a one speed it keeps goin up and down. also when your driving and you put your foot down the car sort of stutters then takes off like it isnt getting enough air or fuel. my uncle says ive got a air leak or crap in the carby, i cleaned the carby blew it out and put a new gasket between the carby and manifold but it still doing it but not as bad. i think i might have a leak where the motor and the manifold join. this problem doesnt stop me from driving it as i just recently welded the diff up its mad goin sideways at 60k around the corner while its screaming a 5…

Hey guys, I'm having a weird problem with my 87' corolla and if you could offer some advice that would be great. The corolla runs a 4ac, which due to rough running recently got a carb rebuild. I am now tuning it and the idle was a bit erratic. So I disconnected the EGR system for now and that seems to have fixed the problem. When I went to set the timing the engine revs would jump incredibly when approaching the recommended 5 degrees, even after backing the idle speed, and fast idle speed right off. There is no troubleshooting description of this in the manual and I am quite stumped. :)

hey, I'm in the middle of putting a ca18det in to a pintara but i was wondering if i can use a ca20 clutch considering I'm using the smae G box from the ca20 would the clutch bolt up aswell

I need to center the wheels with the steering wheel. I really can not be bothered to take it down to a wheel alignment place because i would need to hire a tow truck to get it there. Is there any diy approach to line up the wheels fairly accurately? Cheers J

Hi, Ok the 3K in my KE30 is getting old and well its starting to over heat on long hot summer day trips. Now the radiator in the car is a bit tired and I gotta spare here I wanna clean up paint, add thermo fan to and get it all going. Then hopefully do a motor swap so I can have reliable slow fun again. But The spare radiator I have has been used a bit before (was not long recoed but and is still in top nick.) But the radiator has a heap just bits of gunk, small pebble looking things, general radator crap in it. I wanna give it the best clean out possible. How should I do this? Hey Hey, I put my wheels off my ae82 twincam on my daewoo cielo and there is always a vibration at 100kph like the wheels are unbalanced. They're 15x6 and 195/50/R15 and a tire shop my boss and my self have balanced them and the vibration is still there but its only there with these wheels and tires. When i fitted them they fit fine on the studs and they are the same stud pattern. Any ideas

Hi guys. I own a 1978 Ke55 Rolla. I'm just wondering where the hose goes that comes from the bottom of the fuel canister (charcoal canister what ever it is called) just behind the battery. I'm only asking because mine is loose and i can pull it out easy. The hose comes from the bottom of the canister and just sits in the chassis rail below it, under the battery. Cheers Andrew

Ok, I painted up a rocker cover for my 5k, and I pulled out the rubber grommet for my PCV valve and I destroyed it in the process. now I need another to go into it, but I can't seem to neatly remove the one from my other rocker cover. Any tips, or is there some alternative solution? New grommet (off the shelf) etc?

Hey friends, I recently bought Queen20v's ke70 panel van. Today i tried on some Simmons V4's 16" that came off my brothers car rx7. I got them all on and then reversed out of the driveway only to find that they scrub on the front shocks. I drove back into the driveway and began taking them off from the front. I got to the rear left wheel. Took all bolts off but i can't get the bloody wheel off. No matter how hard i pull it doesn't budge. I hit the back of the tyre with a mallet but was a bit hesitant because i am only using a stock jack... Can anyone assist me with this problem? Much appreciated, Will

Gday, I'm trying to get the key barrel (ignition) out of my ke30. But have know clue how it comes out Tried for a 2 hours. Belt with the hammer wont work. Its probly some thing easy as. Any help would be great cheers Jamie

gday lads just wanting to know if theres a rule of thumb when adjusting the air/fuel mixture on the carby, like tighten it then back off 2 1/2 turns or anything similar to that?? I'm running quite rich and don't wanna get a paided tune until i fix my muffler

My window winders are doing the normal jam thing as I wind down. A little pressure on the glass helps. I have replaced the drivers front one before. I have two spare rear dorrs and was wondering if anyone knows if you can swap them? Also, what is the best dry lube to use on the mechanism? And yes, I went and bought that special tool......... hay guy's last week i drive my ke30 down the coast for the week (new year's) and when i got back i noticed when i pulled my oil cap of my 3k motor it was blowing white smoke and it smelled like fuel really bad this has never hapend to me before. is this bad?????? cheers shaun.

another question for you guys, with the 4a-fe,4a-ge and 20 v twin cam engines ,are you able to fit a after market adjustble fuel regulator ??? will it help much in perf/tuning ?? and where would you fit in the engine bay ?? this is to suit a ae-92 / 94 rolla btw. cheers glen

Hi all i was after a fuel cap to fit a ke36 i was wondering if any one had a spare they would part with for $$ or would no were i could get one (preferably original) i have alredy bought a couple from diffrent places but they have been crappy generic cpc brand ones that continue to leak fuel down the side of my panel leaving ugly stains (also how would i go about removing the fuel stains in the paint)-the ajax isnt cutting it any help appreciated thanks guys

hey all i need help was sold a coil and ignitor, apparently for my smallport. problem is - were having troubles identifying exactly what the 4 wires correspond to... we have every single wiring diagram and pin out diagram the internet can host in several hours of foruming and googling! apparently smallport ignitors arent supposed to have 4 wires either... apparently? do i have a camry ignitor or something? or should i stop listening to my mates who say my shit is wrong? can anyone confirm this? HELP!

Hi guys, Torqued the head up on my 5k and slapped all the rocker gear in. OH OH valves hit pistons first go. Bugger. I pulled the rods out, they were about 156mm long, so I dug around a bit and found some 150.5 long items and they went in perfect. I'm guessing the longer ones are off an early K engine? (Kangaroosa, you might be looking for some longer rods I think they're the ones I got from you with the cam!) Anyway, the shorter rods gave me lifter preloads from 1.1-1.6mm as best I can measure. For you other 5K builders does this sound about right? I originally measured one at about 2mm but I redid it and got it about 1.6. The longer lengths are on the i…

i got front and rear wrap around bars, i put the front on but it isnt sitting right. do the models that came with it have a different front apron or something? or different mounts to the standard ones so it sits back further? i got mine posted and he only sent the bumper, no mounts. it sucks that it doesnt look right and i want to know why.

So I went to put in my 46.5mm welsh plug that I got from Sprints. Damn bastards gave me the wrong one, so I rang them and they said "nah we've never sold one that size" No kidding. Has anyone else had the same issues getting hold of a new one of these welsh plugs? Only Toyota can get one, they're not sure which is which so I just got them to order both back ones...... Now I have an unknown period to wait and it will hold up the engine install! I fly back to work monday so it'll be another 3 weeks before I get the damn car going....

my light doesnt come on when i open the door anymore, I'm thinking its the switches on the door have gotten old. the light is switched to door and it works fine when i set it to on. where can you buy new ones? or should i try my luck with the wreckers, or is there sumthing else i can do?

I recently changed the cvs on my ae92 as it was knocking very badly. Now after a month the knocking came back only when I turn right and got foot off clutch,then as soon as I put my foot on the clutch the knocking dissapears again. Is it time to change the bearings as well is this what may cause the noise? Any Info would be apreciated.

Hey guys, I got a 4ke injection off teddy on here. And i i would really like to get a workshop manual or something, so i can hook it all up or any information. It doesnt look that hard to me to hook it up. I got some pages from a big workshop manual, but i only took out the corolla stuff, it was from back in the day when i was a mechanic, because i thought it might come in handy, but i only took it all out because i had a ke55 for a paddock basher. Now I'm not sure, where i put it all, but i know it is amongst all my corolla and valiant stuff somewhere. But yeah, any information will be good thanks :lmao:

alright here's my problem i have an aftermarked steering wheel on my car now but as of last night its been makin an unusual clicking noise when i turn it slightly to the right it sounds like its comin from the indicators any ideas? its quite frustrating
