i've got oil on the bolts on my inlet manifold. i've no idea where it is coming from any ideas? here is a pic. its dry above the bolts. i've taken the bolts out and the threads are dry.

I have a couple issues with my 1978 KE30 corolla (1.2, manual trans) that I hope you can help me with. 1. It drives great, but when I put the car in neutral when coming to a stop it stalls. However, it will restart if I put it back in gear as long as I am still coasting more than 10/mph. Also, if I pull the choke out before I start braking it will not stall. 2. Sometimes the car will not start. When I turn the key it does nothing...no click, no attempted start, nothing at all. However, if I shift through the gears or wait a few hours it will then turn over. Hi all, Just wondering what people think of the 45 DCOE weber carbs... I'm putting together a turbo 3TC, currently have a 3TGTE Exhaust and inlet manifold, a T28 Turbo, and looking at suitable carbs for a blow thru setup, and came across a 45DCOE 14 weber at a fairly reasonable price. Seeing as I got no idea about webers (having been spawned of holden and holley origins) would these be suitable to run in a blow thru setup? I'm aware of the need to fully enclose the unit (or mod to handle boost) and run a rising rate fuel pressure reg, but just wanting to know what sort of flow this sucker would have on a 3T under about 12-14 psi? Hey guys, I just have a little question regarding running a reground cam profile in my 5K engine I am in the process of building. Now, I am aware that having the cam shaft reground will have an affect on lifter preload and valve clearances, but what I am unsure about is how to correct this as there is no way to adjust the rocker gear as the 5K has hydraulic lifters, and I don't particularly want to convert to solids. Basically, if the cam lobe diameters have been reduced by x, that means that the pushrods will be now that much too short for the rocker arms, am I correct? :'( So, if I get the head shaved by the same value x, will that cancel out the reduction of t…

I'm having some fuel troubles with my car and it would seem that my main pump is draining the surge tank faster then the lift pump can fill it as I found out after some "spirited" driving. Whats happening is the main pump hums along in the back and all is well until you give it some stick, after which the the main pump starts to make a gargling sort of noise like it's not getting enough fuel. Then it all comes to a spluttering stand still. hey guys i am looking to upgrade the carby on my 5k i was really wanting to go sidedrafts but i simply can't afford it at the present time. i have been looking into the webber side of things for it. the motor is fully ballenced with standard bottom end hydrolic lifters and all. it is running a lumpy as hell cam (unsure of specs as there are no new markings on there to identify what cam profile or who did it) a proted, polished and shaved 4k head, coby headers into a 2" freeflow exhaust.(and is fully rebuilt under 5,000kms ago) the webber i have come accross is a webber an old guy here in my home town (in NZ) there is a stamping on the side of it saying "34 DCHD" a…

Well i got to change the head gaskeyt on my 4k and just wondering if i jsut undo all the bolts under the rocker cover and it should just leaver off? bloody hasnt been changed in a while one of the bolts snapped :y: so now i gotta get that off

ok rolla members before we all get mad about this topic i have searched everywhere all over the site and none the wiser ok my dillema is... I have been given a tacho and i have hooked up the wires so when i put my lights on the tacho light will light up :y: and the iginition switches on but i havent actually got the tacho reving which is the problem i have a solering iron and wires ready to be hooked up what i gather is that i need to earth one wire then my question is does the other wire go to the distruber or what do i hook up that wire too any help would be much appreciated s i have been completely racking my brain for answers rolla members any help would be super…

Hi Guys I have a computer & loom that is set up with coil packs for a silver top 20 valve and was wondering if anyone knew how that worked? hey . this is for a friend. he owns a car as the same model as the one in the pic and its a 4a-c auto and it keeps blowing head gaskets (5 to recall). i was thinking it was something to do with the way the radiatior was mounted and was making air pockets in the top coolent cilinder in the engine? could be wrong please help

I'm trying to install a towbar on my van at the moment, and it doesn't have a harness for the trailer. I found a cable that had been cut off, it has 5 wires in it. Anyone here know much about trailers? not sure if it is a harness or not, and if it is, what wires to use when i connect a plug. any help would be appreciated :dance:

It's raining over here and I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to go out and do an errand in my automobile. :y: I get to the bottleshop and I've got my lights on (it was raining heavily) and my radio and my windscreen wipers on full ball. I turn my windscreen wipers off since I'm undercover and I eventually purchase my alcohol and hop back in the car. I accelerate to leave and the car just DIES. The more acceleration, the more it dies. I am thinking this is either from the huge pools of water I was driving through on the way there, or something to do with too much electricity being used. Or could it be from the water getting into the electrics? …

I am just curious as to how big to jet a webber on a 4k and what would be a decent size cam re - grind to still be able to drive it on the street with out it being like it has a massive turbo on it :y:

1990 Toyota Corolla GTS 4AGE FWD My harmonic balancer gave out and I searched high and low to find one, toyota has them for $450 new. Took a chance on one from a auto wrecker in New York (I live in canada near vancouver). I explained in detail that it was for a 4AGE engine to make sure I am actually getting what I am ordering. 3 weeks later it finally shows up and ofcourse its not the same as my old one. Same diameter but weighs about 2 pounds heavier. The half that drives my alternator belt is skinnier, one fewer grooves. Now I don't know if its just a matter of getting a belt to fit and this one will work fine. I don't want to take a chance on screwing up my cran…

Hi All, I'm in the process of putting a 4agze into my KE55 coupe. I've installed a T-series diff and thinking of ways of upgrading the rear suspension (hoping to use it as a road and track car). I found this thread on AE86DC. http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/showthread.php?t=33 I'm wondering if the top mounting cup is different in size to the KE70 or AE86? does anyone know? The idea will be to use the coilovers for the suspension and just the top leef (of the original leef pack) as a locator for the diff rather than setting up the trailing arms. Comments???

was reading on here, a guy got all the parts from ke55 to do a manual conversion to his ke55 auto. and the shifter didnt line up? he tried with the ke70 box and it lined up nicely? is this correct? need a ke70 box to do a manual conversion to my ke55? advice and info pleaseeee thanks evan

Been doing alot a reading and aparently you can get a brake upgrade using the xt130 corona struts and stuff couldnt find too much on here to do this so i did some more research on other forums and found this :lol: xt130 brake upgrade n suspention hope it helps the people thinking of doing this and if u do have something like this on here my bad 8/

I'm a man of many different vehicles and many different mechanical problems, which I'm sure is taking years off my life :) I have a suzuki swift cino 1.3lt SOHC with a carburettor, and it jerks and hunts terribly when driving on the highway (and chomps fuel too) but is quite ok when driving in town. The carburettor has had a kit put through it (by myself) the ignition timing is quite ok, it starts and runs really well in town. Now the question I have, when driving on the highway, at a constant speed, obviously not much load on the engine if any, what circuit would it be running on in the carburettor? I planning on building a turbo onto the side of my 5K with a blow through setup onto a 32/36. I just wondering if anyone has done this before and has any advice, also I'm looking at the moment for ideas on a turbo hat for the top of the carby that i can put the piping into. I'm really looking for some good blow through pictures and hat ideas, ive read through the big turbo thread but want some more ideas if anyone has them At the moment its probably gonna be a bit backyard with a j pipe and a small turbo running about 7-8PSI as I'm not touching the head yet. hey all ok i've just put a dellorto 40 sidedraft on and its backfiring through the rear barrel.also the gasket of the rear two cylinder is soaked with fuel as well. now the engine seemed to be running fine with the stock carby on it, a little rough at idle, but i put that down to having a stock carby on a sligtly worked 5K. putting this new carby on, i don't know if the engine is now showing the symptons because of the sidedraft and it now has two barrels so u can see that its got a problem, or there is something wrong with the carby. from what i know, i'm guessing its the engine, however i don't get why its running shit one one of the last two cylinders and n…

hi, I'm thinking of buying the instrument cluster off ebay for a ke25 / te27, its the one with the speedo and a separate tacho, with the other gauges inbetween . Question is, will this just plug into my ke20 or is there different plugs on the back. hey guys just converted from a shitty 3k to a fully rebuilt and very worked 4k! used all the same parts off the 3k and put on the 4k like alternator etc. my problem is that the clutch is not fully disengaging. checked the cable and it seems to be working sweet. my question is, is a 4k crank different to a 3k? the flywheel bolted straight on but I'm wondering is the crank that the flywheel bolts to thicker or thinner? any help would be much appreciated!!! cheers

Hey, havent been on here much but worth a try for a question. I own a ke30 with the stocko powerhouse of a 3k motor with the 4sp behind it. Its my DD. So i need it going smooooth as my 4B Suzy is out of order atm.. Now at half throttle she seems to be running abit rough on the road, as in flat spot, bit of smoke (only seen at night in other peoples headlights). Anything before half throttle is normal, anything after half is secondarys? So its the normal whoa feel the power kick..Well slightly. :rolls: Been on a 600km round trip last night.. The flatspot dissappears sometimes if i give a kick flat to the floor and back. Would it be timing?Points? …

we were at the servo 2day, my brother goes to start his car and it cranked over 10 times before it gardually go going, he didnt flood it i was watching his feet. no choke etc now i think its a fuel related problem. so thing along the lines of.... fuel going back down to the fuel pump instead of being held in the fuel bowl ? does anyone have any ideas on things i should start checking?

a mate has a old st141 corona siting out the back of his joint, has the 2s-c donk and 5 speed from what i have found on the net the gearbox and diff are bogwiner, can someone conferm? also is there anything else worth steeling for me ke70 befor he gets it scraped??? breaks ect.... thanks

hey guys, Hoping for a bit of help here. I recently put a 2tg into my rolla and of course expected the fuel economy to be worse than the 5k that was in there. Not this much worse though. Getting 16.5l per 100km under fairly normal driving conditions. Engine has mild cams and head work as far as I know and is running twin weber 40s with 32mm chokes. It was running rich and had machined out 34mm chokes and jets to suit then I got it rejetted with the 32mm chokes but it hasn't made a significant difference. So all you 2tg owners what sort of economy are you getting? And what carbs are you running?

I have a problem with my 4age ke70 it keeps snappin the water pump thats the 2nd pump ive been frew I'm running a clutch fan would anyone have an idea what may be the problem.
