Hello all of you, A short introduction of me. My name is Paul and live in the Netherlands. I'm 51 years old and together with my son we bought a Corolla KE20 from 1973. I own the car now for almost 4 years, the outside of the car is almost like new after the respray (do everything myself) and a lot of cosmetic work. At this point the complete engine, shocks, brakes, are being overhault. I visit this site very often (also before I joint) to get more info about all kind of stuff, thank you all for the info on the site here, very useful for me Try to have some nice picture's this evening to this site. But one question is troubling me, how can i find out if m…

In my professional life, we spend a lot of time looking at what other people are doing in Australia and overseas, critically evaluating practice (including ours), and looking to improve how we do things. Part of this process is presenting research published in peer reviewed journals in what we call "Journal Club". But professional life is moderately boring, whereas cars are not! I'm fortunate to have built up a good collection of Car mags mainly from 1965 to 1975, plus a smattering of later stuff related to my AE86. For a while now I've been thinking I should post up some interesting articles, so here goes. May not always be Corolla related, but what I've enjo…

Hey guys I'm currently in the process of putting a 12a bridge port into my girlfriends ke20 coupe for her. I'm making a complete bolt in crossmember and mount setup ill post pics up as its done and see what yous think and if there enough interest ill be making a few to sell . I would like measurements for a ke30 inside to inside of chassis rails about 250mm back from the front as I want to see what the difference is between the ke20 and ke30. I will make a spacer plate out of nolothene to make up the difference . Once finished they will come powder coated . Kit will include - 12a 13b breast plate . 2x new engine mounts. All bolts 8.8 grade. Custom crossmember predrilled .…

Hey gents. Placing this thread here for us Corona fiends to use to share info and ask questions rather than destroying each others build threads with garbage. Mods please move if this isn't in the right spot ;) First question I've been wanting answered - who has the spare wheel mounted in the spare wheel well inside the left hand guard? And if so, what is the tyre profile? At some stage mine has been changed to a wider profile and she won't sit in there anymore lol Feel free to ask questions/share ideas in this thread guys.

Hi all was just looking at personalised plates for colours and they are charging through the ass for it. Is there anything stopping me from just taping them up and spraying them myself? I'm guessing it's probably illegal but not 100% sure

Whats going to become of topgear with out Clarkson? My THOUGHTS is that they will put some try hard to replace him and the show will stubble on for 12months then die. Much like the aussie version which just didnt have it (what every it is) I'm a fan of Clarkson i really think he makes it,with his smart ass comments and totally crazy antics. Thoughts!!!!!!

So I'm considering the mechanical direction to head in for the Ke70 sedan Ive bought. The car currently runs well with stock as a rock 4k and auto. Ive been reading up heaps on the thousands of different options and am leaning towards one of 2 plans. A: Cam, carb, exhaust and shave the head on the stock 4k motor. -cam: possibly a Tighe grind as they are local -carb: whatever I can find or make fit (single downdraft webber/dellorto, single sidie or whatever, twins will prob break the budget) -1.75-2inch zorst -shave head B: Buy some other kind of cheap, carbied larger capacity toyota engine(I know of an 18r thats available) that drops in easily. -could do 5k…

I'm a middle age guy suffering from my second middle life crisis. For my first one, I bought a yacht, which sat on its mooring for 7 years and formed a new reef. I've now sold the yacht and with the small amount of cash I managed to keep, I thought Id spend it on a classic Toyota. I've got two newish Toyotas which I can't fault and my father in law is a Toyota engineer in Japan. If I bought something else, I think he'd be pissed. Also, my son thinks the 1970's cars look crap so I know he'll never steal mine if I get one. I'm wondering if anyone here has "imported" a modified car from another state and registered it in WA. I spoke with someone from road safety in …

Discovered a hole in wifes AE112 corolla fuel tank today, its on a crease in the tank in an easy to get to place, seems like an odd place, tiny tiny hole, can't really see the hole, but petrol sure seeps out when you wipe it clean with a rag. Emptied out the fuel this arvo in anticipation for removing the tank, but my mate mentioned this: http://www.permatex.com/products-2/product-categories/specialized-maintenance-repair/professional-repair-systems/permatex-fuel-tank-repair-kit-detail about $30 at supercheap. Anyone used one? Seems fairly reasonable.

I have a silver KE55 XX coupe that I'm preparing to upgrade with a 2TG and it needs some rust repairs and a backyard snick'n'respray. It was resprayed by the previous owner and it wasn't a bad job but by his admission the Super Cheap clear coat he used was crap and soon deteriorated so that now all the top surfaces have either coarsened or flaked off. I've painted an RX7 in silver acrylic before and I wasn't happy with the result. It looked fine - like a maintained example of a 30 year old car. But not a freshly painted one. A friend bought the RX7 off me and painted it again in silver acrylic and got the same result. Actually I reckon my job was better. Spray pai…

I'm going to turn out a few sets of these brass rocker spacers for the trusty K series. They're a straight swap for the springs and will stop your rockers from floating off the valve at high engine speed. Cost to you estimating $20-$50+ pst depending on numbers and and my costs. Any interested?

Hey there fellow rollaclubbers. Just a querie about air con for my 1989 ae95 sr5 wagon, it currently doesnt have air con, but just trying to work out if there is an air con setup from a similar model corolla that will fit mine? None of my previous toyotas have had air con and I'm getting a bit soft in my old age, and would be a lot more comfortable for when i need my car to take the kids anywhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated :) Cheers Brendan

Just wandering what tyres people have been using for drift, how long did they last?, how much power were you running?, psi?, did they delam? and were they ran backwards? (directional tyres) and of course the cost per tyre and how they performed! slippery or grippy, predictable at speeds etc. and also what front tyres do you run for a bit of grip! cheers! :dancetall: :dancetall: :dancetall:

G'Day Rollas, So I'm only new to this community and cars in general so I apologize in advance. I've been a proud owner of my KE70 for almost a year now but I am in need of some advice.. I have a 4 Speed Manual CS, Everything 100% stock and original, being that the car has been garaged for 20 or so years it still has some problems. I've been wanting to get a mustang for quite some time, but I'm also really interested in turning my car into a drifting/daily little speedster. If I was to keep the car I would want to do the following. Change paint colour Install chrome bumpers, body kits/lips. Replace 4k engine with SR20, upgrading suspension, brakes and maybe…

A mate has just bought a Rona RT132 18R 5sp for his first project car. Seeing as this site was so helpful with my wagon, I thought i would ask for some hints and tips on modding it. It's gonna be a daily so nothing too extreme, but a 3SGE would be nice eventually Any assistance would be much appreciated..

Long time lurker... Looking at buying my first rolla ke30 soon. Plans so far are swapping engine for rebuilt CA18det. This will be a longish build, not in a hurry to get it on the road as its my first engine swap that's not the original engine so pretty much a learning curve. hopefully I can pick the brains of a few people on here :) Josh

I need some advice from you fine people, and I was hoping you could help me out :D I seem to have a problem with the right side of my boot, Somehow water seems to keep filling up and I have no idea why. I took it to the BP to give it a clean today, I was soaking that area with a high pressure hose and the whole time it never filled up once.. It only ever seems to fill up during heavy rainstorms.. Any ideas? I checked my seal on my boot and everything it perfect. I did have some gaps in my tail lights but I have sealed them up since then. Cheers :)

Hi all. Wondering how to disengage the over drive gear on a crown. To engage it when the right revs are reached a dash light comes on. Take foot off gas. Till light goes out. Then gas it again and it grabs "overdrive". How do I get out of overdrive? If this is in the wrong spot mods please move.

I have a 2005 Corolla Ascent (base model, no modifications) with 260,000km on the clock. I've had it since km one and it's had an ok life - not much city driving, a lot of country km's. It's had logbook servicing for 200,000km then fairly regular servicing since then. It's had it's gearbox replaced at 215,000km. The front bumper is quite dodge but still works. It's got a few dints and scratches, as well as a cosmetic rust patch underneath the door handle on the drivers door (bloody roo!). It was just registered in Canberra in February. Aside from the gearbox, it's been quite cheap and very reliable and good on the petrol. I just got quoted $2000 to fix up the foll…

Hi Guys, Just wondering if anyone can help me out with some information. My girlfriends dad is trying to Sell his 1975 KE30 corolla, it is overrated condition has just had a respray and has 70,000klm on the clock. As I am pretty clueless about this stuff would you be able to tell what this would be worth? He is an auto electrician and works in a mechanic workshop so it has always been well looked after and has only had 3 owners I believe. Any help would be greatly appreciated, cheers.
