I'm under the impression that normally you need a spring compressor to remove the strut tops, since there under load all the time. But do i still need one if i can adjust my coilovers so the spring is under NO tension? Reason why is that the guy , when putting together these struts mismatched the hats, so the brakes face the other way. So i need to swap them over

Hi guys, I have a question. Basically, i used to know a panel beater that used to "modify" the exhausts of his cars. As a result, the cars always sounded a bit louder and tough! All with the car's standard exhaust What i want to know is, "is it possible to somehow make the standard exhaust on my ae82 corolla sound a little tougher and "rorty" by doing a few simple modifications? Basically, insurance wont allow me to modiy my car with an aftermarket exhaust, and i can't stand driving a car that has such a wimpy exhaust note. Please help!

Hey hey, all you insane Corolla gurus out there. Should I go cheapo and fit wagon springs from the wreckers to stiffen my KE30's behind? Would it make an appreciable difference? I'm just assuming they would fit. Or should I get Redcliff Springs and Suspension to reset them plus 1 leaf for what is admittedly a very reasonable price?

While most of these have fallen off long ago, I'm trying to remove the door trims from my KE55 coupe, the only problem however is that I can't get the winder off. The trims are in execellent condition and will be for sale one they are removed, as such I'm reluctant to just hack them off. I know they are held on by a circlip of some discription, I just fall short of knowing how to get them off. Any help in with regards to this matter will be appreiceated Cheers jordan

I was thinking the other night and i was thinking of a way to get more air to the carbie and i thought of getting a crome pipe and puting it next to the radiator though the grill with mesh on it so no rocks get in and then feeding it to the carbie and mounting it on the carbie inlet thingo any way do your think this would do any thing at all to help the car or would it be a wast of time Thanks Heaps Luke

I hope this hasnt been covered before I have had a few people pm about hydrolic clutch in ke30, so i thought i would answer publicly in case anyone else is doing this. so i have taken some photos to help out. Some poeple claim the ta22 pedals bolt in, but apparently not. The photos mostly suck due to it still being in the car, but i tried. I used a ta22 master cylinder. The distance between the top pivot and where the cylinder pivots on is 64mm centre to centre. The master cylinder bolts on to the factory location stamped on the firewall, although you have to drill it to finish the job Under the dash The pivot point for thr pedal had…

I'm not quite sure which topic its suppose to go under.. I was driving my KE30 in the rain and i hit the gutter at approx 50kms this pushed the engine and gearbox over also pushing my wheel in. the frame for it has been bent and i was wondering how much this would cost me. Also i need new shock and who knows what else havent had a proper look at it. the fans hits whewn the engine is started too. anyone have a rough idea how much a KE30 corolla frame from the wreckers would cost me? Or anyone have any other ideas?

Hey all, I've just done a search on here and came up with a thousand topics........................... Question- How on earth do i remove all of the sound proofing/body deadening from the floor inside my rolla? i'd be buggered if i'm going to spend two days with a screw driver slowly picking away at it. I've been told that i need to use some sort of heat gun? WTF? Any help would be greatly appreciated! cheers phatke30!

hey everyone. i'm not sure if this is the right section so mods move as required ( but i think i got it right) my mum just blew up her mx5  , i know its not a rolla but you guys are all pretty car learned so i was hoping you all could help, underneath a wollies car park. she managed to get it home but its was running quite bad. we think it may be a blown head gasket though can't be sure, what is a way to check?? basically it is blowing copious amounts of white smoke out the rear and a small bit either out of the head or exhaust. she wont idle and is hard to start. the injectors where cleaned the other week, could this have caused some sort of other problem?…

Guys, I took my 5K for a burn yesterday and it got too hot. I got the radiator cleaned out (about 30 percent blocked) and today it still overheated, although it took longer and a much more energetic drive to do so. I've front mounted a davies craig thermo. I'm getting a lot of "blowback", lots of air bouncing off the radiator and pushing forwards. Yes, before you ask the fan is running in the correct direction. Has anyone ever seen a shroud on the front of a rad? I don't like the idea because you lose a lot of open road airflow, but in this case it will definitely improve the fans effectiveness. Any other ideas on how to get the temp down?

G'Day all, I'm currently in the market for some performace extractors to fit a 4A-C motor (see WTB forum), but, before i go ahead and spend hundreds on getting them custom made, I would like an idea of what the potential power increase will be. I'm asking those of you who have done this, or know the effects of this to give feedback on what the benifits will be, and whether or not you believe it is worth getting the parts. Thanks.

Ok so I'm not actually thinking of doing this, but figured i would put my idea up for scrutinizing by other corolla nuts hehe. Does a 3k crank fit into a 5k? Assuming it does, when you did drop it in you would have a stroke of 6mm less correct?. Now i know what your thinking. "what is he thinking? it wouldn't work because your combustion chamber would be too big, cos of the piston being at 6mm lower at tdc" soooooo, the obvious answer would be to shave the top of the block 6mm. Hahaha, now i know what your thinking now, "what an idiot" But think of it this way, if you pulled it off, you could have a 5k with a bore of 80.5mm plus however much a 60" boreout wo…

I've got a 5K engine, but I'm buying an EFI manifold for it, i don't need to change to solid lifters for this do i? I'm assume not since I'm keeping the 5K head. Do i need an Electronic Dizzy? or will the stock 5K work?

I actually used the search function and found this. http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?s...17948&st=15 I'm about to buy a pump for the KE50 with a 3kc, build date 2/77. will a 78 to 83 pump work? I thought all k pumps would be pretty much the same. ebay and the above thread have told me otherwise. there are freakin millions of k engine pumps. Maybe I should pull mine off first to use as a sample! does any one have a list of all the differences?

Hey guys. Went down to Mettams Mufflers in Midland (WA) this week and got quoted $680 for extractors and a 2" sports exhaust. The guy just wrote 2" sports but I'm assuming he means exhaust, yeah? Is this an ok price? I rushed my superlites so I figure I better start being a bit wiser with my purchases. Cheers. :)

Hey guys, I noticed a post a few days back where someone advised against Ramflo air filters. I figured that the element itself is the problem? Anyway after measuring up my engine bay, I reckon Ramflos with the offset will be the easiest fit for my twin DHLAs, but I wanted to see what people think? If the elements in them are crap, I figured I will just by the Unifilter replacement items to go in there? Cheers tom.

i have been looking around the internet for a while trying to find info on putting a 7afe head on a 4afe. i have a few questions as i can't find too much for myself is it a possible/easy thing to do? are any gains that will come of it worthwhile? i am well aware that it would be a better choice to put in a 4age, but I'm a uni student and am not too phased if i butcher this car so i want to play with the 4afe.

Just wondering if anybody has ever had any problems with idler pulley or tensioner bolts breaking on the timing belt of a toyota s series engine? I replaced a timing belt on either a 3s-fe or a 5s-fe, and the idler/tensioners were noisy so I replaced those as well. less than 10,000km/6months later the bolt for one of them has broken, apparently from over-tensioning. I'm sure I didn't over-tension the bolts and I'm sure they felt quite ok when I did them up. Somebody else has done the repairs, apparently there was considerable damage to the valves when the whole lot came unstuck :) Just wondering if anybody has seem this before, I know there are a lot of people on here…

Hey guys, i recently put some dragway rims on my Ke35 and the first test drive showed that the car needs a wheel alignment. But i've been a bit slack and left it, but its been driving fine, actually alot better than before. But last night i had two other people in the car and the steering wheel (and entire front end) randomly wobbled badly at speeds of a bout 40-50 then i'd stop and it'd be fine, then it would do it randomly again. so i dropped one person off, and it did it less, then dropped the last person off and i was able to drive with no problems, and this was going through 80 zones. Just to let you know the front still has the old springs from the auto to manual co…

New to the forums and to Toyotas. I recently aquired a 1986 Ae82 5 door for 100 bucks. The beast runs and drives, but its an automatic. A few days ago I got an FX16 parts car complete with a manual trans, pedals and all, Also for 100 bucks. Ill be doing a manual swap shortly. I just have a few more questions as I want to get everything off of this car that I possibly can before junking it. I have read that the front struts can swap directly over? Can anyone verify this? I also would like to know if the rear strut assembly can swap over as well as I would really like the rear swaybar and rear disc setup. Does anyone know exactly what needs to swap over? It maybe easi…
