Well I've read 100 times now, people saying that toyota inflated there power rating of the 20V 4age engine series. I'm quite certain this rumour is because all Japanese engines are rated in PS (metric HP) and people forget to take that into consideration. I'm assuming a 20% drivetrain loss for RWD vehicles. Crank power crank PS crank HP RWHP RWKW Silvertop - 160 157.8 126.2 94 Blacktop - 168 165.7 132.5 98 Now not everyone makes 94kw with there ST 20V, but there are many people that do. If you're making 85kw atw on a dirty old 20V with unknown km's on it you're doing …

Hey all, The time has come to buy an aftermarket ECU for my 20v KE30 project, just wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to which brand to go. I was looking at an LT10s but I've heard someone say that Microtech's are no good for 20v's. I realise that a lot of it is down to the tuner as to how good it works, but I'm hoping people can give me the benefit of personal experience. Ninja edit: Also if anyone can recommend a quality tuner in Melbourne for their chosen ECU I would be very grateful. Cheers, Sian

Hi guys, Just recently finished the 20v conversion in my AE95 and having some problems. Not being very experienced with this sort of thing I had friends helping me and when it came time to grind the block the alternator was still connected to the motor and got covered in metal filings. I blew it out with the compressor as best I could. The car is together and was running but I have no battery light on the dash. I'm pretty confident the wires were hooked up properly. I took it for a test drive last night and got about 5 minutes down the road before the headlights and dash lights all went really dim and the car cut out and wouldn't start again. Does this…

Just a quick question, can I use a silvertop timing gear on the blacktop 20v, just hard to find a blacktop 20v timing gear for the inlet, apparantly it is going to take a month for the blacktop one to be shipped out from japan. But i know someone i can get a silvertop one from, so just wondering if its possible, i do know that the blacktop timing belt has an extra tooth compared to the silver top so it might be a pretty stupid question in that sense, but i still want to make sure.

Hello all, I've picked up an AE95 wagon on the cheap :jamie: with a stuffed 4AFE motor (project thread coming soon). Always wanted one of these, but a bit more straight line poke would be great. Obviously I have several options for fixing the motor - replace the 4AFE with an low kms imported or (god forbid) exchange engine, rebuild existing motor which has no compression in one cylinder, or ditch the 4AFE and replace with a 20 Valve. :) Can anyone tell me roughly what is involved with 20V conversions into these cars? Are they a fairly simple plug'n'play type thing, or are there more substantial modifications that need to be made? What expenses other than th…

Just doing some research for my next drift beast project. It will involve the most insane 4A-GTE you will ever see :S (dead serious too) It will be a track only car so it won't be registered for road use (That will be for my MZ20 Soarer :wootjump: ) anyways I was wondering if it is possible to fit a 20v 4A-GE head onto a 4A-GZE bottom end? Thanks for your help. I will keep you guys posted as to the progress of this project. It probably won't be in action till the end of the year (well the engine bit, the car body modifying will be but) Thanks

Hi, I'm after some genuine advice regarding my 20valve. Ever since i bought the car, i've had idle problems. When its cold, it idles good, but when it gets warm the idles keep playing up. When i stop on lights the car sounds like its goin to turn off, but sometimes itll slowly make its way up back to 900 rpm, and idle good. Ive done a full service including leads, iridium plugs, filters, changed TPS, changed the computer (stock 20valve) and i've still had no luck. Has anyone had a similar problem or knows their 20valves well enough to help me out? Thanks.

Since we were deprived of ever getting these cool 2dr wagons in North America, can someone verify if the doors are interchangeable? I'm getting an 83 wagon and an 82 2dr sedan parts car soon and really want to make my own 2dr wagon! It makes no sense that Toyota would make different doors for these models so hopefully my dream build isn't a wash. Much thanks!

Hello ladies and gents i'm helping undertaker get his new ta22 to run and stay running, :D but were having a drama with the engine, it has a webber on it and once you get it running you can't accelerate at all it just dies like a huge flat spot, i have another webber at home, we changed the carbies around (mine is jetted for a t04 on the side of a t series engine :) ), but it still does it it idle's perfectly untill you feed it some go go juice, it's like the motor wont accept more air and fuel, i'm wondering does it have anything to do with the timing being out a tooth or so, or something in the mani stopping it from going. Any help would be great cheers Justin

ok guys, rebuilt my motor, got it running, once its ran for about a minute, it spits all the oil out, around the area of the oil filter, fuel pump, engine mount, blocking plate and oil pressure sensor, now I'm sure its not the headgasket, oil pressure sensor, i thaught it could have been the filter as i had a z9 on it, i changed to a z89a (recomended) the reason i thaught it could have been was because the z9 has an anti drain back, i asumed it might have flowed the oppersite way and pressured up, so could it be coming from the, fuel pump little blocking plate at the back of the block or the filter? one of the bolts is shonkey in the fuel …

Hi, this is my first post...ever. I wanted to see if anybody can help, and I really appreciate it if you can. This is going to be a long story, but I'll try to cut it down. I have a 1976 Corolla 2TC SR5 liftback. My dad was the original owner and it only has 75k on it, so it really means a lot to me to get this car running again. About a year ago, I came up to a stop and the car died. It wouldn't hold an idle. Anything below about 2500 rpms and it felt like it was out of time. Anything above and it ran perfect. I checked my idle screw and it was fine. then I checked and replaced all of the vacuum lines. It still didn't fix it. I couldn't really tryto check …

Appreciate this kind of info isn't common knowledge but does anyone know for sure what the lift and duration are for the 2TG TRD cams (304 and 288 - appreciate that's the duration but you know what I mean)? Failing that, can anyone give me lift and duration for cams with more aggressive profile than the boggo factory items?
