Hey guys my starter motor just died in my ke20. I picked up a bosch one out fo a ke30 as I thought it would just bolt it but it uses larger 10mm bolts that won't for through my bellhousing! Are there different types of starter motors for corollas throughout the years?

Hey guys, bit new to this.... I'm sure the answer to this is really simple, Ive done a search and haven't really found a definate answer.... I'm wanting to put corona struts/control arms, etc in my KE70 to better my suspension and to eventually do the Hilux/Peugot brake upgrade. What I need to know is what model corona do I need to get the parts out of for them to fit? Is it just XT130? or 131, 133, RT142? Theres a xt133 at a wreckers near me, would that have all the parts I need? or do I need xt130 specifically? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Dave.

Hey guys, Currently doing a 4AGE into my KE70 at the moment and I am up to the exciting part of converting to a hydraulic clutch setup! Now, I know the obvious route to take is to fit an AE71 pedal box, or a t-18 with minor mods, but I am deciding to modify the original KE70 box to use the clutch master cylinder I have here from my donor AE86 as I'd rather not pay the $150 + that most people want for the AE71 setup and also, from my first assessment, I should be able to make the KE70 pedal box work easily. Firstly, here is how I plan to do it: From what I have seen, with the clutch MC mounted in the factory position (mould in firewall), the pushrod co…

Hey fellow rollaclubers. my friend and i started porting a cylinder head for the first time using tips sourced off the net and in books. so far we have only done one port as per picture bellow. does anybody have any tips they can share, any methods that worked best for them. i just wanted to hear people opinion on porting and if they think it is worthwhile of the hours and hours it takes.

hi all, this is a pretty basic one, just upgraded the diff in my ke70 and was wondering how the best way to bleed the brakes would be, the brake lines hooked up at the back on the diff but no fluid in them, so should I pump the pedal a tonne of times and try to get fluid into the line on the diff or should I just do the usual routine of pump pedal, loosen , pump pedal, will that eventually get fluid to the back. Also going to change the brake master while I'm bleeding brakes, A mate that doesn't really know ke70's said that there will probably be like 4 or 5 places (other than at wheels) in the brake system that I will have to bleed, sounds a little strange to me? …

hey guys ive just recently installed a jdm tank into my sprinter however it appears now that the car wont start up? Ive checked: 1) All lines and that they are connected correctly 2) Prime the fuel line of any air 3) check pump if it is actually even working (which it is). 4) Spark plug wise the car did not have any issues with it before i installed the jdm tank So what could it be? Can you please help me find the root of the problem. Muchly appreciated, Dave

Hi kids, I've got a 5K in my KE26 with a Tighe 104 (from memory) cam, headers, a fresh bottom end and a redline manifold with twin side draft Dellorto's on it... It's just done a head gasket and while it's apart i'm wanting to match port the head to the inlet manifold, install an electronic dissy, and up the compression to 11.1, i've read stuff on the net about the 5K having dished pistons and not much head height or something, is it possible to deck the head enough to achieve this much compression? or will i crash things? Ideally i'd like someone to say, take XXX thou from your head and you'll have 11.1 compression, but i'm sure it's not that easy? Also, can i use…

Hey all, May as well start at the beginning. I am a fully qualified Mechanic. I have recently moved to Mill Park (just near Bundoora). I have a 1976 Ke30 4 door with a CA18DET including Transmission and custom driveshaft. Up front are some RA60 struts, hubs, rotors and calipers which will soon have new bearings, shortened strut inserts with coilovers, machined standard rotors and green stuff pads. My first issue is the Positive Camber. Is there any adjustable LCAs or Camber hats for the ke30? As I have nearly finished the front end I am now looking towards the rear with the diff, I have read through the forums and have worked out I need either a Hilux diff with L…

hi all, I have searched but I failed to find the answer, I know that the thermostat plays a vital role in EFI engines but I am unsure of its importance in carby engines, as I have read that they are not of that high importance in carby car.. I just bought this KP-61 with 3K, engine sounds reasonable to me, but I found that the previous own had removed the thermostat also the Radiator Fan is connected to IGN1... because of extreme illiteracy, this is the first setup performed by the mechanics here.. referring that this is a hot country, we don't require it here... plus, if I have to install one, will a 4k or 5k thermostat will fit in?? Or just connecting th…

Hi all, a mate and I have just finished rebuilding his 4k with reground cam and shaved head, everything else is stock on the engine, we have gone to start it after the rebuild and it won't start? When turning over it is sucking air up the exhaust and pushing air out of the carbie. What does this mean? Any help would be awesome. Cheers Damon

Evening Everyone Just got a quick couple of questions about universal joint problems. Firstly I have a small port 4age in a KE35, T50 box and stock borg warner diff. I broke the universal in front of the diff the other day, just fell into pieces. Gave it a boot full, dropped the clutch and bang. Previous owner said that he had it happen to him twice as well. Now I know this is a "high load" situation and that things break at the weakest point. That being said, it is probably better breaking a uni rather than a diff, however, I thought that it was still pretty unusual. Has anyone had any experience with this? How did you fix it, what can I do? If I strengthen …

My car's got 300+ km's on it, so I'd like to clean the injectors. I don't want to remove them and risk damaging them. I've read a lot about people putting different additives in the tank to help clean them. Just wondering what people on here have tried and results. Pro's and con's of going this route instead of pulling them out. thanks guys Jordan

Every time I put the choke in (Push knob forward) the car will quickly die unless I aggressively pump the throttle, it is not responsive to the accelerator the moment it gets to under 2000 RPM. When I pull the choke out the car is fine and drive-able but the only problem is that it runs at 3000 + RPM even when just sitting at lights etc. Oh and it's a 4 speed 4K-C. I have adjusted the points (to the best of my ability, could still be a little out) and changed all fluids in the car including petrol. Another problem I would love to help with is most probably a blown fuse. My rear lights (indicators and reverse lights included) don't work, my dash light does not wor…

Hey guys. Thought i'd chuck this up. I got a thought yesterday when sorting my coilover gear to see if t18 brakes would fit ke70 struts, and they do! They're a decent size bigger, and slotted/ vented rotors available. I got it to work with a t18 rear bearing and ke70 front bearing. Presumably you could use a ke70 rear as well though. The only thing is you'd have to re-drill the 4 holes in the caliper bracket as they're a bigger spacing. But either way it doesn't seem all that hard at all, And pretty cheap. Also, This would work on ke10, 20, 30 and 55 as well. Not sure if this is any help to anyone but could work out a slight upgrade for much…

Both of them has hydraulic clutch , 5 gears , same 22 spline output shaft and is identically same...and ofcource has the toyota emblem! I decide to open one of them to check it from inside.....(first time) :jason: thats the result!! The big problem its that i don't know what code is and if it suitable form my engine(4age). From inside i can see that it is in a good condition...i think! Can anyone recognize it?

Hey guys as the title says I have a Ke70 and I'm just thinking about doing a 4afe conversion because of ease of getting the motor and price as I don't have the money to buy a ge motor and I can do ask the work myself just have a few queries am I right in thinking a t50 gearbox will fit it for the obvious rear wheel drive and as for the dizzy problem will a 4age rwd thing fit it and I would run Cathy so I don't have to hunt down a rwd manifold what other pebbles would I run into as for mounting I have read that 4afe blocks are the same as 4age blocks so engine mints won't be a phlegm I can get them any help would be much appreciated it didn't have to be a race car just ada…

I've looked through the Nikki carb guide and it does not mention anything about a certain part of the carby. On the underside of the carb, in between and off centre of the two throats there is a bolt with a hole going through the centre of it. It sort of looks like an port or source of vacuum for the carby. This bolt/hole looks the same as the one on the stock Aisan carb. The question is, what purpose does this have for the carby? The 4k carby mounting plate actually has a hole cut out for this port on the carby. Why this is of relevance to me is that to mount this carby you need to double stack the mounting plates. I am using a different mounting plate that…

Since we were deprived of ever getting these cool 2dr wagons in North America, can someone verify if the doors are interchangeable? I'm getting an 83 wagon and an 82 2dr sedan parts car soon and really want to make my own 2dr wagon! It makes no sense that Toyota would make different doors for these models so hopefully my dream build isn't a wash. Much thanks!

hey every one. i bought these two wastes of money off ebay. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/RWD-Starlet-4age-engine-mounts-kp60-kp61-kp62-Toyota-16v-20v-/281069396828?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item41710aa35c&_uhb=1#ht_500wt_1156 when i asked him he told me they would fit my new ae71 crossmember. but then on the motor drop date! they did not reach either side of the crossmember's mounts. (very upset) so i have sent the seller a message but havnt got a reply. so it is looking like i have the mounts. AWESOME! but my question is today where the hell do i find the right ones? i have a sneaking suspicion that they will fit a ke70 crossm…

So a few days ago, the diff just locked up as i pulled out of a street. Felt like the hand brake had been applied. Then it unstuck itself once i restarted the car and everything sounded fine so i drove it home. This morning it happened again while on a light corner and now its definitely stuffed, bad noise and feels like its unbalanced... Is this a common when the diffs get abused? I'm assuming I'm going to need a new pinion and center?

Hey guys I currently have a very weird issue in my MS47 Crown. 2 Weeks ago I jacked up the backend and removed the tail shaft to get rebuilt, the chassis has been sitting on stands for a couple weeks with the diff hanging down as per normal. I got my tailshaft back today, it was retube'd and balanced. Sat the car back on the ground and for some reason the back end is sitting literately 3 off inches higher than previous. How on earth does this happen? I've taken it for a drive, everything looks and feels normal, shocks are not locked or anything silly, why would it be sitting much higher?

Recently installed a 2" tacho in my ke30. This is the one i got from ebay for $30 + $8 postage. "Tachometer 2'' Gauge Wide Sweep 250degree reading 4-6-8 cycl adjustable In Dash" from seller "automotiveblitz". http://www.ebay.com....id=300880814731 Decided to put it where the clock would normally go Made up a simple aluminium plate to hold the tacho in place With tacho bolted in Wired both ground wires and the orange (light) wire to some plugs that would have been used for the clock. Red wire will hook up to plug in photo below, green wire goes to the ignition coil Don't know what this plug is normally used for, but is very handy for …

Right so this isnt a corolla carb, its actually a Suzuki Sierra carby...but hey a carby is a carby. I'm half way through putting a carby kit through it, and i have a question about setting the float level. I think the needle valve is actually a tad longer than one I pulled out, due to the fact that the adjustment is miles out. The manual gives me photo of the float with a measurement of 7mm from the bottom of the float to the gasket case of the casting (with the float/top of carby upside down and the weight of the float on the needle valve). And the float is parallel to the gasket face. In order to get this distance of 7mm I have to bend the bit of metal t…
