Hey Guys. Slowly working my way to getting my daughters ke55 coupe on the road. The latest issue to come up is when the car is idling and the brake pedal is depressed there is a loud hissing coming from under the dash area, then at the same time the idle takes a dive and almost stalls the engine when the pedal is released the revs return to normal. Does this sound like a faulty booster or could there be another issue that relates to the vacuum system. Where do I start?

I recently purchaced a 1990 Holden nova sedan with the 4afc motor. It had a blown head gasket as a result of a faulty thermostat. The auto choke was also seized. I replaced the head gasket, intake manifold gasket, exhaust manifold gasket as well as the dizzy, ignition leads and thermostat. Full oil change and tune up. Having a few problems with a shutter or surge at low reves when driving. Any suggestions. While the head was off i cleaned the pistin heads and the carbon buildup on the top edge of the cylenders was removed and pollished. Valves also cleaned.

Currently I'm driving my stock ke70 but I'm looking to upgrading to a new car once I'm off my P plates. There have been so many options but I have narrowed it down to two options. Mitsubishi Evolution 8 or a Mustang 2016 EcoBoost. The car will be my daily driver with hopefully a little bit of track. Just looking for some advice and info. I've been looking at these cars and between the two the only real difference is that the EVO is AWD and the Mustang is RWD. They seem to have roughly the same kw/horse power and both 4 cylinder with turbo. However not to sure on body weight. Price right now, The mustang is cheaper but in a year or so I can only assume that they w…

Hey fellas, i have finally got my ke55sr near complete but running. I took it for a drive and drives well but there is a constant whirring sound when i am idling with the clutch disengaged. I have removed the clutch rod from the pedal and noise is still there. When i depress the pedal the noise goes away. Not sure whether the thrust bearing is still touching the fingers or if it could be the gearbox input bearing. Anybody else had this issue?? Cheers

GRR.. I'd spent an hour+ and almost finished writing up this post, when Mozilla Firefox crashed, leaving me to rewrite the darn thing all over. :lolcry: ANYWAY! Okay, folks. I'm starting up a thread for everyone to post up the details about rim and tyre sizes on their Corolla's, so that we can make a "Rims and Tyres - A Buying Guide for RWD Corollas" database. What I'd like everyone to do is use the template below and post up information about their car and the rims and tyres that are on it, so I can create a database for reference purposes just to give buyers/researchers a basic idea of what rims/tyres will fit, what won't fit and how it will look on their…

For those of you like me who used Imageshack or Photobucket with links onto here, I've just discovered Imageshack shut off the free accounts this year. Rats... I didn't know before the end of Feb, which was the cutoff for d'loading your photos. So I'll replace what I can in my topics from images on my computer, but some I don't have anymore. Trawling though the web for the 4AGE build showed an amazing number of broken links to photos, which will degrade the usefulness of the web over time. For a while we had all this knowledge at our fingertips..

I was fortuante enough to park my Kluger next to a wall that got painted. I've got white dots all over my bonnet now. Has anyone tried using meths to get water based paint off a car? I'm worried it will damage the clear coat. It was done a few months ago so is well and truly dry.

Hiya guys, I'm a bit peeved off, got my car resprayed around the 9 years ago, got the car sandblasted, after lets say 3 years, the paint started to bubble. I thought..."humidity bubbles", yeah it happens.....so I didn't think twice about it. The time is now and I've got panels covered in all these "little bubbles", so on further inspection to find out that its actually rust. Not happy Jan! Long story cut short, cheap sand was used to blast the car (sand containing salt), causing what we have to date. So, my question is -Re-blast the panels? -Strip the panels back by hand and deox? -Should I go soda blasting? Will it removed the impregnated rust? …

Haha! Yeah right! As far as I can see they don't exist as Toyota used an unusual size for the needle bearings on 1st, 5th and the layshaft ends. These are way out of production and no-one can find them. Naturally all the boxes are wearing out together, and when I put a box in for a new front seal recently they said the bearings were rooted and it can't be fixed. Unless we are willing to run out of manual boxes in a few years, we need some bright ideas on how to modify the shafts and housings to take a closely-sized common bearing. Keep this in mind when you're having a beer with someone from a bearing shop or a gearbox place, and post ideas up here. T50s on…

Just wondering if anyone has experience with both hypatec pistons "d and O" dish.. would one be any stronger than the other? Was planning on using d dish in my boosted build... But now considering using o because the c/r may be too low to start off with even for a boosted motor. Basically just wondering if the o dish would be as strong as the d dish??? 5k block 4k head combo...

Trawling around on the interwebs, looking for something that Mrs Parrot can buy me for xmas (since she never got me anything for my birthday.....) I got thinking about ultrasonic cleaners. Numerous videos to watch on youtube, including lots of interesting efforts with people making homemade vibration jobbies attaching sanders to jars etc. Purpose built made in China ultrasonic cleaners are not too unreasonably priced, if you keep to a maximum of 6litre capacity. Anyone have any experience with these things? As an example, this 6 litre model is $186 but they have a make an offer option

I'm going to turn out a few sets of these brass rocker spacers for the trusty K series. They're a straight swap for the springs and will stop your rockers from floating off the valve at high engine speed. Cost to you estimating $20-$50+ pst depending on numbers and and my costs. Any interested?

Hi Guys, Just wondering if anyone can help me out with some information. My girlfriends dad is trying to Sell his 1975 KE30 corolla, it is overrated condition has just had a respray and has 70,000klm on the clock. As I am pretty clueless about this stuff would you be able to tell what this would be worth? He is an auto electrician and works in a mechanic workshop so it has always been well looked after and has only had 3 owners I believe. Any help would be greatly appreciated, cheers.

Hi Members, I'm trying to get a hold of Mungi Mods. I don't know where he is or what he is doing at the moment. If anyone has seen him or has contact details please let me know. I have his engine crane and some nice tools of his and Id like to return them, as well as to catch up with someone who has done a great deal for Rollaclub members. :clover: Cheers, Matt

Strolling around the beautiful south gippsland country side over the Melbourne Cup weekend, my eye was drawn to this piece of artwork in a gallery. Can't quite see it on my wall, but may take someone's fancy. It's got altezzaclub written all over it, or perhaps corollaart might pop it up on the living room wall. Takumitax? I can already see KE55 parts escalating thanks to the mcphersontax.

I just received a coffee mug I bought on ebay. http://m.ebay.com/itm/TOYOTA-KE20-COROLLA-COUPE-QUALITY-11oz-MUG-/171465558099?nav=SEARCH To my utter amazement the image on the mugs resemble an image taken of my ke20 a few years back at All Jap Day. With obvious computer alterations, close inspection shows identical image angle, shape through the windows, alignment of the headlights, bumper and grill. I'm 100% certain this is an image of my car and I'm excited.

Hi, I'm looking at getting my ke55 resprayed pretty soon and wanted to know your opinions on what's the best way to go about it? Do I get it down to bare metal through sandblasting or stripping the paint? I live in the Sutherland Shire and want some good places to get it painted too if possible, I am happy to drive to get it done well though. Thanks, Kyle

In my professional life, we spend a lot of time looking at what other people are doing in Australia and overseas, critically evaluating practice (including ours), and looking to improve how we do things. Part of this process is presenting research published in peer reviewed journals in what we call "Journal Club". But professional life is moderately boring, whereas cars are not! I'm fortunate to have built up a good collection of Car mags mainly from 1965 to 1975, plus a smattering of later stuff related to my AE86. For a while now I've been thinking I should post up some interesting articles, so here goes. May not always be Corolla related, but what I've enjo…
