as per thread topic, my ke10 has a Toyoglide, which i was fully prepared to Shift kit, slightly higher stall, and reco. but its gonna cost about 2k... i have most, if not all, of the bits to convert it to a manual. so my question is, do i convert to a manual 4spd(as its all i have laying around)? or do i pay the cash and get the auto rebuilt, tricked and then keeping the car original? thoughts?

Hey guys, I've been looking around through a few threads and can't quite seem to find the answer I'm Looking for. What I want to do is convert my points ignition to an electronic one, however, in preparation for a future engine build I'm looking at doing it with MSD gear. What I'm looking at are these; http://www.msdignition.com/Products/Coils/Stock_Replacement/8203_-_Blaster_2_Coil_w/Ballast___Hardware.aspx http://www.msdignition.com/Products/Ignitions/Daily_Driver/6425_-_Digital_6AL_Ignition_Control.aspx http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/toyota-3k-4k-5k-corolla-electronic-distributor-ke10-ke20-ke30-ke55-ke70-ke38-k-/111272845830 The car has a Bosch Distributor and changing…

gday guys.. thinking of converting the rear drums to disk on a ke30 so i can run hydro handbrake and would just prefer to run disks.. is it a hard job? can i just get the front assembely off another ke30 and put it on the back? I'm guessing ill need a different brake master cylinder? ive been told that because its such a light car the disk brakes wont be as effective.. anyway cheers in advance |blink|

Rear drums suck. What would I need to do to convert them to disc's? Also, is there another set of disc's/calipers that I can use as a cheap big brake kit? Off a Camry, Celica etc.

Hey guys, As some will know I've just brought a small port dizzy instead of a big port unit for my 4agte. But I have been tood a couple of times now that the small port dizzy has 4 wires and the big port only 3, but my old dizzy has 4 wires as well. So how many different dizzy's are there, could it be a gze dizzy? Anyway, What I was thinking and I have been searching, was to use the small port dizzy as a CAS and run multiple coil packs. Just wondering whats involved/needed. I'm running an Autronic ecu so that shouldn't be a problem The dizzy has 24+1 teeth like below Any info, ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Dan

Hey guys.. In an effort to get the rolla back on the ground quicker I am going to use the std ke25 diff but converting it over to 114.3.. I have the jap type diff with the bolts on the front.. Now I have read that I need ke30 axels and braking assembly, but when I was at the corolla wreckers he told me there was 2 types of ke30 diffs.. the jap type and the borgwarner type.. Does anybody know if theres a difference between the two and which one I should be using for this conversion?? Or am I totally wrong and should I be chasing a ke55 rear axels and brake assembly?? Also while I'm here, roughly how much power would a std 25 diff cope with?? ill b…

Well my little 4k seems to not be liking me at the moment and has decided it wants to start getting hot argghhhh. anyway so far i have started the process of elimination to the find out if the final outcome is a blown head gasket. this is how far i have got, including reading as many threads as i could What it seems to be doing is heating the water enough to build up pressure and almost fill the overflow bottle everytime i drive it. my daily drive is 45km and for the most part 100km/h so i would have imagined that if it has a blown head it would be getting hot along way before that. now the temp needle itself is sitting a bit above halfway (alot hotter the i ever reme…

hiya boys, I was hoping some one could clear this up for me. I had my 4a block acid dipped and bored ready for it's rebuild and was told by my father in law that, if i have a engine block acid dipped that i have to replace all the core plugs and any non ferrous metals parts that might be on it. (he is a yardy and has given me heaps of bum steers) I was thinking about replacing them any way, but I wanted to know is: Does the core plug "NEED" to be replaced, is it "just in case" or while it's out do every thing you can. Thanks Chris

Hi, I need some advice regarding my corolla 2E vacuum setup. The attached image is the vacuum layout of my car, but I am not sure where to connect the vacuum line of the VCV (vacuum control valve) in BLUE color. Those circled with GREEN and RED are to those vacuum hose are connected. But for the BLUE color, I am not sure if it connects to the circled in YELLOW or ORANGE. Thanks for your help.

Hi, Just doing some more work on my SC14 and K motor project and I need a pulley to try on the front a thin one. Now I know sigma ones are the right bearing size but I can only find the thick sigma A/C pulleys so they wont quit fit (yes thin sigma ones fit but I can't find one) So on ebay tonight I saw this: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Air-Conditioning-Co...1QQcmdZViewItem Looks like it will fit like a glove. Now since it is a experiment I was curious to see if some one has one in my area I can loan or post to me or if some one can measure the ID of the bearing on the pulley and the thickness of the clutch face and the thickness at the thickest part? Cheer…

I saw this corolla gauge cluster on ebay. It had a speedo that went up to 200 km/hr, and it had a tachometer: corolla gauge I've never seen this type of gauge in a corolla before. What would of it came out of? Maybe it only came out in Japanese models It went for a pretty high price. Would be nice to have though. Bruce

Hi people, I am new here and this is my first post. I'm from the UK and I own a 2003 Corolla 1.4 T3 VVTI. I bought it as my A-B car and wanted to modify it a bit. I want to use all genuine Toyota parts, everything was going well until I got to the wheels. There is not many 17" Toyota rims that are 4x100 here. I saw a set of Celica rims I really like and was wondering whether it would be possible to convert my hubs to run on the celica fitment of 5x100? So I want to ask How difficult would this be and what parts would I need? This car is for keeps so I would not mind to work on it and spend a bit of money to get this done. Any advice would be much appreciated. :P

Excuse the crude 'painted' diagram, but heres my current vacuum setup on my 3e-te powered corsa. This is how I bought the car and I dunno if it's right. Can anyone confirm or explain the correct setup? At the moment the vaccuum is coming from the plenum via a large vacuum hose into a screw in/out adjustable diaphram that also screws into the side of the plenum. From there, the lower smaller hose from the dipahram splits from a 't' piece to a round looking sensor thing ( it has a single electrical wire leading away from it) and also to the upper vacuum point on the vacuum sensor on the far left of the engine bay. The lower vacuum point from the sensor on the left hand …

ok, got the extractors and 2" all the way with 1 muffler put on yesty. prob is, the car runs like crap, I'm pretty sure its the carby, the idle is rough and drops about 200-300 rpm, and then gains it back plus more, etc etc etc. also there is a big flat spot on acceleration, so I'm guessing the carby is really munted. mate has a weber that i will try when i get the adaptor plate. also, got new rotors put on the front, and the pads are still brand new, was wondering does it take time for the brake pads to adjust to the new rotors?. cause my brakeing power is still really low, thanks

this is worth a post of its own I reckon. I've stuffed this into my offline favourites as it looks like it probably shouldn't be online ... so maybe it'll disappear. Looks like a complete late (from our perspective anyway) model 'rolla manual. http://aarc.epnet.com/application/8586/8586.htm enjoy, Slapper

hey Well i have got a 76 corolla fairly ruff but minimal rust :) I am planing on doing an engine conversion to a 4age. I have 82 corona strurts and brakes for the front as they are bigger. A 4age out of a ae82 corolla seca arriving soon (very excited) And a t50. So thats the plan so far.. mean while i have a 1982 corona with a 1x engine about to be scraped and i notice that the bell-housing for the 4 speed is seperate to the gearbox itself, so i was just wondering if it is worth saving, will it bolt up to a 4age and what other boxs would suit it? Thanks Corey

Hi guys. Ive got a a St141 Corona with a 3 speed auto. Auto seems to be having trouble selecting reverse or park. Its like theres something stopping it from engaging anything above neutral. Ive disconnected the selector rod and its definitely something internal in the box.. Looking for any advice on what the problem might be. I'm thinkinh it mite be easier to just put a 4-5 speed manual in it but I'm not sure what boxs will fit straight in.. Any ideas or advice is greatly appreciated guys. Cheers

Hey guys need to replace the front timing cover seal on the crank of the 1980 rs132 corona. when removing the pulley the balancer behind does not have a center bolt??? All i can see is it has a key way and no thread in the centre. Does this mean i just use a puller to get it off? What holds the thing on the crankshaft?? Thanks guys hopefully someone has done this before.

Hey guys, I am looking for another, better diff for my AE71 wagon (leaf-spings). I have done a fair bit of searching, and it looks like an F series from a RT 104 Corona might be the best option. It looks like it will have the right stud pattern (4x114.3) and the right suspension mounts (leaf springs), but I can't find what width it is. Does anyone know?

Hi, I own a 1980 Toyota Corona xt130 wagon (xt131?). It has 108000 kms on the clock and is running of a crappy 1.9L Holden Starfire engine. It was my first car and I didn't know what a nightmare the engine would be. Anyway, recently I have been having some issues with it. While driving the car will sometimes randomly start jolting pretty violently and to stop it I apply the clutch. In extreme cases it will continue as i slow and change down gears until it eventually stalls. After letting it sit for a while it usually works fine. The first times this happened it was going up hill at medium speeds (60 & 80 km/h) but now it has happened on straights after a while of…

Yes, thats right, I wanna know what the specs are for the engine timing. I don't see any specs in the FAQ, maybe it should be something that should be added and maybe also add how much advance you cang et out of the car to give it a bit more power? I'm running at 5 degrees BTDC but i reckon it could perform much better. Anyone got the specs?
