So I have installed a 4age with jdm t40 bellhousing & ta22 t50 into my ke20. I have installed the clutch master from ta22, and the slave cylinder from the original 4age fwd box. it is sort of working in so much that i push the pedal and the slave cylinder moves.. but not enough.. it needs to travel at least double the amount it is currently travelling to disengage clutch properly. looking at the adm ta22 slave cylinder it is smaller in length to the fwd one i have used, so i am assuming (because i have never really worked on hydro clutch before) that my master cylinder is too small to push the slave cylinder far enough. Is that likely? I really wou…

Hi all, I need the part number for a 3k bigport manifold gasket (gasket that goes between the manifolds and the head (inlet & exhaust)), I've done a search of the forum and typed in "3k bigport manifold gasket part number" but to no avail, my local parts guy doesn't know what i'm on about, supercheap and repco are just a bunch of F#*&%$!ds, either that or if someone could tell me the exact model of corolla they came out in, Thanks in advance, cheers phatke30!

Hey everyone, I am in the process of fully rebuilding my 74 Ke20. It has the stock 3K engine in it, well i pulled it out last week, and the original 4 speed box in it. I got a manifold for a twin weber carb and a twin weber card for it. Any suggestions for a cheap power fix until i can afford for sr20DET conversion?

My girlfriend has a '88 Corolla 4 door. I has about 115k on it, and was just in for a tune, also the exhaust was replaced. Since then, the car seems to be running rich, and idling low, the gas mileage has dropped from 50-60mpg down to 29-30 mpg. Any thoughts on what the issue might be? Bad injectors maybe?

Right, just need another brain to confirm that Ive cooked my ECU. Yesterday I was trying to fix my head light when I blew some fuses, but think I blew more than that. For a bit I had limp home mode, but then everything died, no engine light, no fuel prime, nothing. All other electrics, lights, stereo, heater etc are all still fine. Pulled the ECU out and it just revs as if it was still plugged. Anyone got one I could borrow and perhaps buy if it fixes it? Cheers

HOLLY f@$k!! I thought as i ran to see that the positive going from the batt to the starter was melting an every other wire around it!! There was so much smoke my hole shed duched in like seconds!! I couldn't get the positive clamp off the batt cause i did it up so i had to cut the positive wire with some plyers!! Ill try to…

  18. Howdy! At the moment i have my ae86 sitting on the front lawn with a standard 4ac in it with a busted head... either cracked/warped or blown head gasket, as there is steam coming out of the exhuast, it misses and when i crank it with no plugs it shoots water out the holes.. hahaha Luckily for me, when i bought the car it came with another head that had been rebuilt, port n polished, fitted with dual valve springs and had the compression raised. It also has a custom ground cam in it too(I'm going to find out what the specs are soon). I also received manifold with two fully rebuilt weber carbs on it. I will readily admit up front I know very little about carbys, so please go easy if I sound like a bit of a tard! I have a KE35 with a 4k block and 3k head in it. It generally runs quite well, but it won't idle for crap. Generally it will idle ok for a few seconds (sometimes a minute or two), then will start to shake and miss a bit, and then just stall completely. Sometimes it will try and stall as soon as I engage the clutch when slowing down for lights etc, although if I just let the clutch out and roll start it, it will generally idle happily for a little while. If I sit with my foot on the accelerator a bit (sitting at 1500+ rpm) it will sit quite happily inde…

  23. Hi, Need some mind power by some gurus on here to help me with my idle issue... The other day was driving my KE11 and when crusing down a road at any speed if I jumped off the noise pedal car would pop a bit (so lean out pops ok all cool). Pops started to get more frequent when off the throttel so I figured car running a tad lean. Then BOOM car stopped ideling. But when driving with throttel open 100% fine. So I did the whole undo idel screw blow some compressed air in to clear idle jets spray in some carby cleaner put screw back in. Toyota specs say start at 3 turns off shut. Due to a semi mild cam (kicks in around 3500RPM) my idel screw is 3 and 3/4 off seat…

Hi All, Previously i made a post regarding some fuel pump decisions i had to make, i opted for the mechanical pump for reliability and ease of installation, pump went in a treat and there was a noticeable improvement on the first start however now the car is struggling to idle. Not idling at all would be a better way of putting it. this was my first time playing with fuel systems so has anyone got a tip or suggestion as to why this may be happening and how i would go about achieving a solid idle again. I am going to play around with the timing this weekend also as it may be up to that but i figured it wouldnt hurt to gather some other opinions. Cheers

  26. Hey everyone, So I've swapped out my old points dizzy for a new electronic one with an internal ignitor. It runs fine and everything but the ballast resistor is causing issues, occasionally the engine dies and I just have to fiddle with the connections on the ballast resistor and off it goes again. I've just had a quick google about upgrading points dizzies to electronic ones and from what I've read you no longer need the ballast resistor once you've upgraded to an electronic dizzy as the resistor is just to prolong the life of the points. So tomorrow I'm going to remove the ballast resistor, but now I'm wondering, will I need to upgrade the coil as the voltage would inc…

  31. Started by Doogs,

Hi, In a few months I plan to build a mild 5k for my car. For a while I have been considering different options for my build, but had not thought about rockers much. I know of some people who build holden 6s and similar era engines, and one of the mods they do is to install roller-rockers and up the rocker ratio. This aims to have the valve accelerating off the valve seat faster, and to produce reasonable power without having to run huge lift in a street car engine (that would result in rapid wear and lack of driveability). Has anyone tried/considered altering the rocker setup in a k motor, and are there any of these parts around for such a small engine?

Got the 5K driving finally. Driven a few times with no filters (they're coming...). The exhaust note is wicked, nothing too intrusive, but the bloody induction noise is really quite staggering (Twin DHLA 40's). I don't expect it to change too much, but has anyone noticed whether Ramflo's/Unifilters make much reduction in intake noise? It still needs a bit of tuning here and there which might alter it. What have other people done to quieten there twins down? I'm thinking of making up an Airbox for it with a pod. Let me know. TP
